Much amusement at the postponement of this game today. The Leek site carries an article bemoaning how fixture congestion could wreck their promotion challenge (yes, it's the weather's fault, getting humped 7-1 has nothing to do with it).

Meanwhile, in Lincolnshire, the prospect of a midweek trip to Staffordshire doesn't seem very popular. Surely it's nothing compared to the travelling in their Southern League days?

All of this is a bit odd as I'm not sure they needed a pitch to play on. The two sets of fans could have got together, had a good argument over who was the "biggest" and has the most "history" and could have allocated the points on this basis. It's what they'd like to do the rest of the time. :D

I dont know why they can't use their second pitch over the road. Farmer Joe's horses field has a much better surface and the barns and paddocks there offer much more attractive surroundings for the fans.

A pitch inspection was at 10?? Surely a bit more time for the temperature to rise was needed! There was no frost at 11.30- 12! They may as well of had the inspection at 7 in the morning! Surely the ref should have looked at the forecast?
Everyone involved with Leek were surprised it was called off???

You're in a no-win situation though.

If you leave the inspection much later, Grantham would have been whining about not being given enough notice to get there. If you gamble on it thawing out by kick off time, and it doesn't, that'll also cause a massive fuss.
