Away at brigg on tuesday with no thanks to the league.

Just more proof of what what little respect the league have for their clubs (other than the Halifaxs and Chesters of this world). Despite clubs like ourselves being completely volunteers and the league's officials being full time (paid for by the clubs and the league sponsorship), and despite having a Saturday game against Market Drayton coming up, apparently Mr All Cock and his full time cronies feel it is beneath them to spend a bit of time rearranging a couple of games so that the brigg game could be a Saturday. Its time somebody informed these little Hitlers that they would have no job without the clubs and that they are supposed to be working for us and not against us.

Instead we have to travel with half a squad for a game against our fellow relegation fighters.

In the last 4 years, I'm not aware of one bit of help forthcoming from the league although they feel it is acceptable to fine us for every little thing or paperwork out of place. Quite honestly they are the worst representative of their members I have ever come across and I am becoming totally disillusioned with the whole charade. Anyone want a volunteer job with no pay or prospects but plenty of banging your head against a brick wall?

Hopefully the players can have a kind of siege mentality and overcome the obstacles and can then stick 2 fingers up to the league. But if the club end up getting relegated because of the result from brigg, then some members of the league will need to take a serious look at themselves and ask themselves if they are really good enough for the job.

Kidgrove to Brigg is just over 100 miles. Hednesford had to travel to Truro when they got moved to the Southern Premier which is over 260 miles away. Even though it wasn't a mid-week fixture, that is still a ridiculously long journey for step 3 football !!!

I think that as you progress through the leagues, you have to expect some degree of travelling. What you hope is that within any given league a sensible approach is taken.

Firstly, I don't understand why this fixture has to be rescheduled so soon. It's more than likely that we'll get a bad spell of weather in January or February which will result in more cancellations and may have presented an opportunity to rearrange this for a Saturday.

Secondly, you can't tell me that there's no way of arranging the remaining fixtures so that the games against Goole and Brigg fall on a Saturday.

Those "running" the league seem to forget that this is Step 4 non-league footy, not the Premier League. Not only does it show a lack of respect to the clubs, but also the players and the supporters. Perhaps if we defaulted on our tax bills we'd get better treatment?

Alan , Taking your last paragraph I could,nt agree more but doesn,t this happen at every level of football where we have league officals who are just in it for the money and prestige ? in fact with the vast majority it is just one big ego boosting excersise with some rather good free junkets at the seasons end .
It would do some of them good to get out of bed on a freezing winters Sunday morning and go and see how many people give of their services free for lads and dads football, and similarly in local league football, but no they wait until the end of season presentations and then come out of hibernation so as to appear as
"guest of honour ?????" at some do or other.
No, Alan, I,m afraid that the likes of the great team of officials and fans that Grove and many more other clubs have will continue to be frustrated by officialdom with their quango like mentality who quite simply do not have a clue, and I speak from experience having had dealings with the Staffs F.A. in the past.
Thats my rant for the week over and done with, sorry.
