Ooh, Leek have won a game. They're title contenders again! Perhaps Carlton were over-awed by going to such a big club.

We were truly awful tonight though.

if we carry on playing like this were going to make Leek look good. We've been together as a team for 2 & half years & played fantastic football in tht time so why all of a sudden are we bypassing the midfield. Back to basic's boys and start playing the football we know your good at. Tonight was £7 wasted to watch that performance

As the league game at Leek has now been arranged for Saturday 16th, perhaps it's time to put our differences behind us and give Mr Cox a nice welcome introduction to management. How about letting Leek win in the Evo-Stik Tea Lady's Cup or whatever it is, in exchange for 3 points in the league there a few days later?!

If it was up to me I would be making the players refund the crowd their admission fee for that display. I think I speak for the club when I say that they need to apologise to the paying fans and repay them with two sterling performances against Leek. The players are paid decent money to play football twice a week, a priviledge most people would happily pay for (and indeed do at all lower levels). It seems to me that they are not hungry enough any more and maybe some of them need to make a decision - do we go out drinking on a Friday night or in the week (when a week game is on) and play County league football or do we be more professional and get paid a reasonable amount for playing? A simple decision - and if they're not careful, one that will be made for them. There are a lot of people putting in hard work and their own time (for nothing) and the players need to think about this before they step out on the pitch. If I'm getting fed up about it and starting to think is it worth it, then I can only think that other volunteers are as well.

And I'm not the only one unhappy - apparently Wardy was going to make the whole team turn out for the reserves on Saturday (although some of them would have struggled to make that grade on Tuesday's performance). Only the fact that it was a Staffs Cup game and the players wouldn't have been eligible for the game against Stone Dominoes prevented this.

Although we don't have the biggest budget in the league, it is also not the smallest any more, and the wage bill is up substantially compared to 2 seasons ago. If players are only going to put in mediocre displays then I am afraid that there are plenty of local players who could do that on a lot less money. Time to step up to the plate boys.

Two victories in a week against Leek would be some compensation but, even then, they need to keep putting in performances until the end of the season.
