Just in case you were in any doubt, the game due to be played tomorrow at the Seddon Stadium has been postponed. The pitch is under 6 inches of snow as is the stands, and the roads leading in to the ground are ungritted. This game is likely to be rearranged as a midweek fixture.
Dont know about anyone else but I'm getting withdrawal symptoms! and looking at the forecast its not looking very positive for a game anytime soon. :-(

We urgently require volunteers to help clear the snow off the pitch tomorrow. I know the game is already off but the groundsman has informed us that with the amount of snow on the pitch we could be without a pitch for a few weeks when it thaws. And with the midweek rearrangements that means up to a further 3 home games could be postponed in January.

If you are able to assist then we will be down the ground from around 10-10.30am tomorrow morning. I am sure we will be able to arrange refreshements and chips at lunchtime for all volunteers!

3 or 4 of us down today cleared carpark which will at least enable us to keep the function tonight on, which may not bring in much money due to a probable low attendance but at least provide some much needed funds to help pay bills.

As we were unable to clear the pitch with the people available it will probably be early February until we are able to resume home fixtures so any funds from functions, however little, are welcome. However this means that there definitely will not be any further funds available for strengthening squad as we are now getting quite behind in bill payments - in fact in all likeliness a budget cut may be required. I am sure that this will be a fact repeated many times throughout the league and hopefully the players will be patient. However, as we all know following earlier seasons, the survival of the club must come first and success must not come at a cost.

I think that by now we have to accept that our club is not as well supported as other clubs in this league and there is only so much that a handful of people can do - it is probably therefore unrealistic to expect to be competing against the likes of Witton, Chasetown and Sheffield (even Leek, maybe) and I think that this fact will tell at the end of the season. Despite this I think our side has done very well to compete at the top and if we can keep them together I think our footballing future at this level is safe. Until we can improve the volunteer base of the club, however, I fear that we are currently over-achieving as a club even at this level, never mind the league above.
