A very easy win, 3 0 up at half time, mainly due to using a 4-4-2 formation, everyone played well and the new lad gibbo i think in the middle was very good, sam hall controlled the game well in the middle, defence and steve were solid, haddrell and shots always look dangerous, second half we missed a penalty, their keeper sent off with about 15 minutes left. We should of scored at least 6 or 7, but still 7 goals scored away in the last two games and two clean sheets looks play off form to me. Felt sorry for willenhall , we know what its like to be at the bottom and relegation not far away, good luck to them,i hope they stay up as we enjoyed our visit to your friendly club last night, good club house, away support was ok, flags on show, vocally got behind the team, well done all |

Willenhall Town 0-3 Kidsgrove Athletic Liam Shotton 20, 23 Matthew Haddrell 45 'Shot-On Athletic' - Official Match Report Peter Ward's Kidsgrove Athletic pulled off a comprehensive victory at Noose Lane on tuesday evening, In a fixture that saw three emphatic goals, one disastrous pass-back, a sending off, and a missed penalty. Not that any of that listed seemed evident following the opening exchanges, with the visitors gaining the majority share-hold of posession, from which Liam Shotton eventually capitalized on. A disastrous error in the heart of The Lockmen defence saw Stephen Jackson chasing the 6ft Striker into his own goal-net, with the front-man fortunate to gain the recognition of scoring the goal, that as he were aware of the incoming Jackson from behind. Shotton doubled his, and Athletic's advantage only three minutes later, when a drilled effort from an acute angle saw Jackson force the ball into the net, despite a heroic effort to deny the aggressive strike from bolstering the visitor's position. For any stuffing that remained with The Lockmen, all would be lost by the interval, as the experienced boot of Matthew Haddrell drove a strike in that beat the athletic Jackson, and whistled into the bottom right corner. A comprehensive margain to say the least at half-time. A revitalised Reds outfit led by Shaun Cunnington, saw effort's from Lee Chilton and Jamall Pinnock comfortably smothered, before hosts Keeper; Stephen Jackson was at the centre of attention further more, being dismissed for pulling down Shotton, who now had an oppurtunity to accumulate a hatrick. Against the stocky left midfielder of Anthony Nicholls, Shotton failed to make the most of the exceptional oppurtunity, and after being denied further more by Nicholls, his successful evening came to a close. A rousing reception awaited him, as The Lockmen sought for a consolation strike from Lee Chilton and Terrence Morton. The points were sent packing with the visitors, thus bolstering their promotion ambitions for the 2009/10 campaign. |
