I had a good talk with Slert over the past couple of hours. We talked about that fact that just chilling out on the forum and giving progress updates on the forum will not attract new members. The panel was nice, but there are other methods of advertising. Click on the words behind the colons to reach the page I'm talking about (except for tumblr...wtf is that?)

Facebook: We need to give status updates and random blurbs/questions/activities/amusing statements to keep it busy, mixed in with progress updates from the staff. I could post how boring the rigging animation video was, for example. That is proof of progress AND you get to laugh at my boredom. Double win for everybody for me! So facebook definitely needs to start moving. A page like ours can allow for admins, where we post with our own accounts, and it shows up as IZFAS's main account. We should have multiple admins like that. All of the staff and the cheerleaders should be included in that. Also, we should promote more people to cheerleaders.

Twitter: This can be for more frequent, more minor updates on the project progress. I'm sure we'll have a lot to say while working. Also, random brain vomit goes here. Slert is making it and will be one of the people keeping it active.

dA: This is for contests, activities, and overall art-based IZFAS thingamabobs. Perhaps screenshots of our animations, little clips of it, short scenes of animatis, and stuff like that, as well as a main place for dA-goers to access info about us that is not readily available anywhere else. On the journals/blogs, we have links that lead to other journals/blogs that say what we are about, a staff list, a mission statement, a forum link, and many other things. We have picked out staff members for it (co-founders on the page) and we will be demoting/promoting as people stop/start being active on it.

Tumblr: Hell, I don't know what a tumblr is, but Cosmo made one. G4P Edit: Tumblr is sort of like twitter but with blogging and the addition of adding videos and junk. It's actually quite useful if advertised properly. People can follow you, you can post updates, etc. It hasn't been updated in forever, but if we get it moving, it could actually get some people going, because if it gets popular, when people google IZFAS, the tumblr account will be what shows up.

Youtube: THIS IS IMPORTANT. We must post animatics, promos, advertisements, video progress reports, and other things that show that we are alive and working. I wouldn't mind getting on a video to complain about how boring these videos are, for example. Videos are what people want to see from us in the long run...as we ARE an animation group.

WE NEED TO GET THE BALL ROLLING, GUYS. We need to be ALL OVER the internet if we are going to continue to grow!

More power to you!
I think of all five Facebook and Youtube should be of the most importance.
I can't think of one person I personally know who doesn't have a Facebook or search Youtube frequently.
DA is third priority, it's excellent for finding and recruiting talent.
Twitter is handy for when you have a solid following. It's one of those features you can announce, say on Facebook, with much excitement and get everyone pumped for the "progress" your making, even though it took no effort on your part. (ex. COMING SOON: IZFAS ON TWITTER! YEAH WE'RE AWESOME!)
Tumblr is...eh, useful for the handful of people who have an account.
Between Facebook, Youtube, DA, and Twitter I think we'd be covered.

I totally agree with this only problem with one of those is YouTube, which we need an actual video to post which could be inconsitent with how long it takes us to make an actual episode but other then that it's fine.

But thats one of my points! They dont only have to be episodes! How about video updates from an admin or staff member between episodes? Screen captures of us working on animation while giving commentary. Record us making the voices. There are a lot of options for things people would like to see.

That's a good idea, the voice actors should start doing The Trial... So you and Toto get busy xDDD *shot*

Gosh darn, yes man! Do it! Let's put out short animation reels. Animatics. Clips and contest promos. I've been following Soapy Waffles on Youtube/Facebook and this is exactly what they've been up to. It made me EXCITED. I wanted to hop aboard and paddle the boat.
Just a little thing like a twenty second clip of a half-finished job makes an incredible impact!

I was thinking on this the other day, The Trial is a huge episode.
Not just in the sense that it's a load of work for the staff of IZFAS, but it's huge in the whole general Zim plot.
This is just my thoughts on the matter now, but personally I think it'd be best to hold off on The Trial for a future project. Not because it's intended for later on in the series, or because of the amount of effort it'd be to create, but so when we do make that episode, we make it EPIC.
If we work on the in between, fun episodes it'll get our animators time to familiarize themselves with cartooning it up in fluid Zim-style. (Like the beginning of Season One to the end of Season One, you can see the major improvements as the professional animators got the gist of the show) It'll give our voice-actors time to stretch their golden vocals, get our musicians accustomed to the vibe and theatrics of the show, our story boarders will be able to design and draw up a concept in a snap.
By the time we have four or five eleven minute episodes pumped out there is no way in heck that we aren't going to attract new talent to further improve our productivity because they see what we've done and it's been successful! We may even recruit a few 3D animators, better voice actors, more animators, storyboarders, who knows. The possibilities are infinite.
What I'm saying is I don't want to see IZFAS try to tackle The Trial just because it's a cool episode and end up doing a half crap job, not because we don't care about it, but because it's so much!
The Trial should be an episode we're prepared for, and we're ready to blow people out of the water with.

Oh, is that what they've been doing? :0 Well, lets get started!

I like the way you think, Anonymous c: On everything you said, I high five you. I completely agree with your point on the trial. How about another episode that we've already scripted?

I'm not sure if it's already been mentioned or not, but drawing tutorials could also be a possibility. Not just for paper sketches, but lessons digitally and perhaps even with 3D. I've come across lots of people who want to find how-to videos for IZ characters. And while recording, perhaps you could briefly allude to IZFAS to give them an idea on what they're looking at.

Also, maybe a mock commercial. The difference between an actual commercial and a mock one? The mock one is more of a parody of how commercials are, and are a playground for silliness. Why make such pointless drivel? Because people like silliness and will watch it. The more ridiculous the better. And with the mighty powers that be IZFAS, it could be very amusing and fun to do. You could make mock advertisements for IZFAS, IZ, or some made-up thing related to IZ.

Examples of mock commercials: Powerthirst, the WTF blanket, Old Spice parodies, etc.

And perhaps even little "interviews" with the characters of IZ, where the voice actors could do their best impressions and give the viewers a little insight into the world of IZ.

Ah, I'm glad everyone agrees! For a bit there I thought I was just being a nuisance haha. Also, I'm working on something special for y'all... might not be anything INSANELY useful, but I think it'll be cool. :3

If it's shorts we want, I can get scripting. I've got an idea that would do just PERFECT as a short, and would be a good promo at the same time if you guys wanted me to work in a little dialogue.

Also, I agree with y'all about the Trial. It's not that it's too crazy, but if we hone our skills a little more, just think of how truly EPIC it will be. :D

I am now your follower on Tumblr! SUCCESS
Really though, that's a weird explanation, I mean, tumblr is a website for blogs. Blog is a pretty common term right?
And a "handful" of people? TONNES OF PEOPLE USE TUMBLR! Seriously search up some tags or something, uh... speaking of tags, you seem to have tagged your posts incorrectly, unless you seriously expect people to search for "invader zim fan animated series tumblr promo video recruit animator storyboard concept artist voice actor".
... oh yeah, and tumblr can be linked up to twitter updates I believe, other than that I'd offer to help run and design a nice blog for you guys to use but considering I'm a brand new member I probably wouldn't be trusted with something like that. (herp derp!)

This is true! I don't go on Tumblr, but I know it is a rather popular blog spot. I use Wordpress myself (when I attempt to keep a blog... which never seems to last long), and I like how that one works.

And if it is anything like Wordpress, then yes, you can hook the blog up to twitter so that followers get the latest blog posts right away. If we do end up keeping a blog (which I think would be a good idea... because what project doesn't have a blog, right? It's easier to show the world more lengthy updates, as opposed to Twitter and Facebook - because while Facebook has a higher character count than Twitter, going in-depth on something such as the animation progress or how InvaderCon went is difficult without lots of space.

And don't downplay what you can do just because you're new. Talent is talent... and if it's decided a design is needed or someone should help with running a blog, well... I know I'd be glad to have you on board. If you've got something to offer, let it shine! :)

OH YEAH. Forgot the most uh, important reason.
Jhonen Vasquez uses tumblr. ;o So obviously everyone else should or something. EHM. You can also see his twitter feed on the side, which is nice and convenient (something you guys should do). :3?

Thanks a bunch for your niceness, Slert, though I was more getting at the "giving out password information to strangers" kind of thing (well, that is assuming I would access the blog to post things, though I could pretty easily test layouts and things in other ways and submit it to an admin)... well, it's up to those guys in charge, uhm, yes. I need to tweak the layout for my own tumblr actually!! Maybe I can make a shiny one for IZFAS while I'm at it. (Maybe. /slow at html)

That's actually a good idea, I think that each admin should be reponsible for a different form of social media, Halo already runs the youths channel so why shouldn't swibs, G4P, or me take charge of the Twitter, DA, or tumblr account. I think it would encourage activity.

How about another episode that we've already scripted?
Well, although I'm quite sure the VA's are ready for some action, I'd say wrap up the episodes that have the prerecorded audios first. Those episodes are pretty solid, and how could it not stir up the inner fan-love in even the most casual viewer?
After those are under our belt we could start attacking the actual show's concepts along with our own concepts.
