So it has recentley been decided that we are keeping The Pilot episode, but it needs re-writing, unfortunatley in the hopes of fitting as many of you lovely voice-actors' in as possible the script got a little cramped, so in this moment of need, we turn to you, our loyal public, in the hopes that you can think of a script SO COMPELLING, SO THRILLING, SO HUMOUROUS, SO ZIM WORTHY...

...It can be used as THE Pilot episode for the newer version of the IZFAS!

Rules:

- No swearing

- Has to be in the limits of around 1000 words or more

- Be ORIGINAL

There is no time limit, we are accepting a number of 15 scripts only, although if you have worked extremley hard on your script we will except it as the sixteenth and GHP and I will read over it and give our personal opinions towards it.

Votes will be started when we have 15 completed scripts ~

10/-10 Votes - 26 Monies

15/19 Votes - 36 Monies

20/25 Votes - 46 Monies

30+ Votes - 50 Monies

-

If there are two or more users who get 30 votes or more another poll will be made, the loser will get 100, winner 500.

NOTE: YOU ARE ALLOWED TO ADVERTISE YOUR SCRIPT BUT PLEASE ONLY POST IT TO THIS TOPIC - COMPLETED - YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MAKE YOUR OWN TOPIC FOR IT THAT WILL RESULT IN YOU BEING SUSPENDED FROM THE COMPETITION, ADVERTISING INCLUDES:

LINKING THE PAGE INTO YOUR SIGNATURE
MENTIONING IT ON OFF-TOPIC CONVERSATIONS WHEN NECESSARY

-

This will be a Minisode (Mini Episode) and is NOT a promo. So please do not include cheesey lines advertising the IZFAS, because our (new) logo and website adress will be shown at the end of the feature for people to take a gander at then. This is pretty much an ordinary episode. This time more to the point, showing the public what we can do.

Best of luck -

~ Josheh and Staff

Questions, questions. Alright:
The pilot doesn't need to involve every VA like the latter version?
Are we wanting minisode style or promo style? Or is that up to the writer?
When you reach maximum of fifteen scripts, and some of the scripts are not very good, will you still close submissions?

I think it's meant to be able to last around 3 minutes tops, and no include ALL the voice-actors--mostly because I think that's the reason they decided to re-write it.

But I agree with Anonymous' last question. In any case, I'll brainstorm tomorrow, right now I can only make a light drizzle.

Minisode, it's introducing our team in many ways so it may take a while but considering it's pretty much a mash-up of the talents.

As I mentioned if we find a script which is so well written and so brilliantley figured out, I will add it as the sixteenth submission. So that basically answers your question. But I guess to sum it up more easilly, they still tried their hardest, but if the script's not so good, well they just wont get as many votes. They still deserve their chance to get in.

@Cosmo

Skoo said the script needs revising because it could get kind of chaotic with all the characters on set. So it has been decided, it can't include every single character. But now that we have enough people on Staff I feel we can make those un-made episodes we've all been dreaming to get around to. And I'm sure everyone will appear at least once.

As for time, I'm still trying to work out what three-minutes is in word amount. And it also kind of depends on how fast the VA reads his parts.

I must admit this is a great idea since lets face it the first pilot DID ave alot going on making it sort of confusing for those who would be new to the zim universe. We need basically a way of reintroducing the zim universe without confusing the viewers, but also in a sense we need to tell the premise of a story, so in a way it will be hard, but I know we have some creative members and good writers so I know we will have a abundance of good scripts to look through can't wait!

@Josheh I believe well at least to my opinon that 30 minutes is 10,000 or so words so I believe that 3 mintues is about 1000 words or 900 at least, and of course this is just a estimate build upon scripts I've written, but hey thats just me. And Josheh does this mean we decide or the members do if the script is the one we want for the pilot?

And also I am afraid that I won't be able to write anything for the this only because I have been swamped with writing Battle for Meekrob/ Special Doom with a friend so wish you all the best of LUCK!!

Once fifteen scripts (Or sixteen duppending whether there is one brilliant one we just haven't included) have been produced a poll will be made showing the title of the script and theo ne which get the most votes gets made, if there is a draw another poll will be made etc.

I believe all the staff members who volunteer to reading the fifteen/sixteen scripts entered ... read them. I personally will be reading through every one since I think it will be interesting to see what the community produces. I don't know whether you will be reading through the scripts since you're basically manager of the script area of IZFAS Refresh, no?

This is a fun fact I learned in my storyboard class: While it varies, generally one page of a script is equivalent to one minute of screen time. So, the average Zim episode (excluding double-length ones) would consist of a script 10-12 pages in length. So if we want a short that is 3 minutes max, then its script shouldn't need to be more then 3 pages at 12 font size.

I think it would be useful, considering it's the pilot, if we reintroduced the basic premise of Invader Zim (briefly of course) so that anyone on the internet who stumbled across it, even if they weren't a fan, would be able to understand what's going on.
I agree with Josheh though - let's just get our best ideas out and see what we come up with.

Wow. And I thought I was the only person who learnt that. Yeah, that is a pretty usefull piece of information, but as I said, the speed of everyones' voices vary. So some may speak quicker than others in recording. But still, thank you for posting the fact.

Hmm, why does it have to be a cohesive script? Why not present it like a preview of a major movie. Lots of fast loosely related clips cut together like they are part of something larger. That would be exciting and it could be just filled with one-liners and any characters. Just a thought.

And a good thought it is, unfortunatley, right now we need to show people exactley what we can do. And showing a mash-up of loads of clips of film we don't have isn't really the way to present it. It's the kind of thing you would use to present the coming of a new series, for instance 'they now know what we can do, so we'll give them short previews of what's to come.', the Pilot is really meant for giving a people a taster of our talents put to work for the first time, not tasters of future episodes.

yea, i think i agree with josheh, putting random clips together doesnt really show off what talents IZFAS has to offer. But i was wondering, will the writers be going off the original pilot script, or completing something entirely different? while, im not a good writer, and im not going to post a script, i was just curious.

Well, i cant wait to read all the things people come up with. I think this was a good idea ^-^

@Rush; If you think about it, the pilot is more like an alternate universe kind of thing with the characters still remaining in character. After the pilot, the writers will start working on scripts/episodes that never got aired so it won't be a completely new Zim series. Hope that helped. :)

I love writing and I know how to write a script. Maybe I'll contribute one. It just depends if I get around to it with everything else I'm doing...
