Does IZFAS have a Newgrounds account? Perhaps we could get one. I know the original pilot is on there, I even reviewed it.

EDIT: I'll PM Skoo about it if we decide.

I haven't heard of Viacom messing about in Newgrounds or DA either, I think it's youtube because of the number of people they can sue. : \

Okay, this is serious, and I don't mean serious like we'll laugh about it in a few years, like financially serious. Apparently, Viacom, the one we all know and "love" as the major monopoly company that owns MTV, Nickelodeon, CMT, South Park, SpongeBob, Invader ZIM, etc. are going to sue Youtube for uploading fan-made videos of their characters. I just saw this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94K0fAIBQHU&feature=sub and it quickly sent shivers up my spine.

What if Viacom decides to sue us? They're always pissed at the world if they don't make a dime out of it, I think we should seriously think at HOW we're going to post this series without awakening a troll. Hell, I suggest we stand against this during this movement, I really think they're being irrational about it.
Lol yeah I saw that video yesterday. Viacom just sux. But they couldn't sue us if we used our own stuff. As long we don't use their animation, audio, or anything that belongs to them theres no way we can get sued. :yay:

Edit: They may own Zim, but they won't own anything we make. It'll all be made by us. AND we're not making any money off this. So that means they wouldn't be able to sue us right? It'd be different if we we're making money. THEN I think we'd have something to worry about.

XD Let's hope so, I don't have $15,000, and I'm sure most of us here don't either.

I still think we should avoid posting videos in youtube for a while, I just know those "businessmen" type, they always find something to sue about. D|

WOW are they serious?? Viacom is just ridiculous....I believe this is how a company loses loyal fans very quickly ._.

I seriously think since Viacom is being stupid we need a disclaimer for the website. Before they start pointing fingers at IZFAS

You know i wonder how much Invader Zim actually worth?

I know they lost me, I'm completely boycotting them now. :\

That's what I mean. D: They look like really ridiculous people, and the CEO is some crazy 80-year old something man, I'm POSITIVE he's senile.

I've been wondering about that too, but it looks like they only keep it to just mess with Jhonan and the other networks that have offered money. I wouldn't be surprised if they found it worthless. :<

Also, if they tried to sue us how would they find us? We could be almost anyone in the world :bounce:

I skimmed through this thing and from what I can understand in this legal jabber jimmeh, I think they can't sue us.

I know, seriously...

I wonder what would happen if they were boycotted for one week...how much money would they lose, because they are being selfish pricks.

It sort of reminds me of a guy who was complaining that he no longer made 5 million and all he was making now was 2 million or something like =_=

There's plenty of sites we can post videos on. Vimeo.com, livevideo.com, I know there's more but I don't feel like looking them up. Really, I don't think we have anything to worry about, there's millions of fan created work and viacom can't get rid of it all. If sites that give away the episodes for free can still exist, which is one of the bigger things that pisses off companies like viacom, then we can continue doing what we do to.

Worst comes to worst, we'll just have to ensure our survival by upping the security around here and maybe posting our videos as an anonymous organization. Have new users sign some sort of agreement when they join this forum saying that they aren't here with any ill will against us.
First rule of IZFAS is you don't talk about IZFAS.

I doubt it will come to that though.

Viacom is the equivalent of today's U.S. Federal Government. Too powerful and not in the right mind. But that is just my opinion.

I actually watched this same video earlier today, ironically, as I am a subscriber, same as you.

@Deranged Black Kitten

We'll all get codenames and trench coats, as well as a pen that shoots tranquilizer darts, too. Then we will overthrow the mole people and- WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT?!?!

@DBK: Hm, I guess we would do that if we see things taking a turn for the worse, I wouldn't want to be secretive about something we'd like to show to everyone. <XD

@Dee: Everything big in business is, really.

His videos are funny, <XD

Okay, that's just retarded. Against all logic. Can't really do stuff except keep on going like I did until now... I haven't been buying anything from them since the Spongebob movie years ago and I watch IZ online. I WOULD have bought the DVDs if I had the chance... but nooo, they're sold out and they ain't making new ones and the show ain't on TV in Germany. So whatever, it's their own fault I'm being illegal. :XD:
I don't have a Youtube account and don't want to make one but I'm going to blog this matter in German.
I don't think they can really sue us if we pronounce that it's a fan animated series and we don't want to make money with it, just spread the love.
Germany's most famous Youtube comedian (an IZ fan, too, BTW :yay: ) made a sketch about a similar matter... she got famous for her Harry Potter parodies, but they got shot down by Warner Bros. Loyal fans keep uploading them however. :yay:
This her sketch about Warner Bros. : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwuTG0puaVU
I'mma translate it, I think it gets the point across quite nicely:
Sketch Translation: Everyday Business at Warner Bros. Office
*Poster reads "WB office"*
*Office Dude (OD) plays with Harry Potter DVD as if it was a toy train while Secretary (S) watches*
S: Why do you keep doing this?
OD: I'm thinking about how successful we used to be. The times when we still had money and could afford toy trains. At least there's one depicted at the back of the DVD cover! ...It's hard times for us. We had to release 800 of the employees in our movie department! Even though we did everything right! Prohibiting the spreading of our materials through Youtube. Music just the same as movies! And series! And... plush rabbits that look like they could be from us. But still... SOMEHOW, people don't like us anymore! Just why don't they like us anymooore!
*knock on door*
S: I'm, eh, going to, eh, open the door. *gets up*
OD: People! *whispers* Potential YOUTUBE users!
S: That should be your 5 o'clock appointment, I ordered somebody to come here for alternative marketing concepts. *opens door*
*Marketing expert (ME) enters*
S: Hello, please enter.
ME: Hhhhhi. *comes closer to OD* Mister... Brothers, I assume? *shakes hands* Hello.
OD: *clutches DVD* This is MY train!
ME: *steps back* Okaaay.
S: So, um, please sit down. Coffee? Tea?
ME: Nope. *sits*
S: Okay.
OD: Soooo... Alternative marketing conceptsss. You may talk now.
ME: Well, I was thinking, you know, as advertizement for the new Harry Potter movie, for as long as it's not in the cinemas we could upload videos on Youtube, like, for example fan-made synchronisations.
*OD pulls out gun*
ME: U-um, I'm not suggesting this to harm the movie industry, but because I just LOVE the movie, a-and Warner Brothers!
OD: Love...? You mean... like the love a man feels for a woman? Or... for another man, depending on personal tastes? Or... like the love of a man... for his weapon! *takes gun in his hands*
ME: E-er, there are many people who love videos! On Youtube! *slow motion: "Youuuuuuutuuuuuuube!"*
*OD starts shooting while S watches. A moment after OD stops, S gets up.*
S: I'm calling our attorney. *leaves*

Dudes, I know I'm normally the paranoid one in a situation like this but chill. Michael's sending the message out to any YouTubers' who upload slide-shows and AMVs, we on the other-hand upload fan-made episodes of Zim, everything we include in it is fan made, sure all the music will have to be fan made now also but it's okay because we have some awesome musicians. If everything we do is completley fanmadewe have no reason to worry, the message is intended to those whohave uploaded a picture from the series or music, clip etc. Don't worry you guys, kay?
