http://www.mcnaughtonart.com/artwork/view_zoom/?artpiece_id=353 ^ Browsing the net of a lazy Sunday afternoon I came across this: a painting that provides commentary of the USA as a whole, the backbone of it's development and those that represent the downfall of the Christian ideology of the country. After going through and hovering over every item/figure of the painting and reading the authors commentary, I thought it was worth sharing. There is so much I could say about this painting, regarding my opinion of numerous aspects of how the artist portrayed his own thoughts and reasons for including the figures he chose. As well as my own personal response of disagreement on some aspects. Just thought I'd share it with you. Provoked a great conversation panel inside of my head. --- P.S - Disregarding all interpretation, it's an incredible piece of work. The faces, the poses, the emotions are portrayed excellently. Perspective is off. The people in the foreground are the same size as those in the background yet Jesus is 50% larger then everyone else and he is in the middle. The people far in the background are ok though. The background seems to be half flat and half fisheye lensed. The building on the right on the half that is on the "Fisheye lense" side does not conform with the rest of the backgrounds positioning. The building on the left. Its windows are lazily painted on with a quick double stroke technique. |
