This will make sense soon The Sleeping God Reece Law It is said that at the beginning of the universe, before people or beasts or birds or any form of life, there were two beings living outside of time. They called themselves 'The undying ones' and they were brothers born from the same womb, the womb of the universe. The first brother, Ha, was a noble creator who wove the great expanse of nothingness into planets and stars. He breathed life into the empty universe and created the laws by which it was to be governed. He injected fire into the suns which gave life to the planets which orbited them. In great bursts of light he threw stars as seeds to paint a tapestry of mysterious beauty in cold lifeless space and gathered them together to form solar systems and galaxies. He smoothed over every hill, cut out mountains, filled the seas with life-giving water and the innards of the planets with molten rock to keep them alive. He looked upon his work with weary eyes and it was good. The second brother, Nix, was not as industrious as his sibling and chose instead to lose himself in his own mind, thinking for eons and meditating over the reason for his existance. As Ha rested and prepared to fill his planets with life, Nix traversed the universe which Ha had filled with planets and stars, jealous of the wonderous things his brother had created and all the amazing things he had accomplished. He flew about the expanse growing hateful and angry toward Ha, cursing his name at every new discovery and swearing that he could do better. Wallowing in hate for his brother Nix formulated a plan to take revenge on his over-achieveing twin. Ha awoke some years later and began to work on the life of the planets he had raised. Buzzing with ideas for new life-forms he began his work on a planet called Earth, creating the smallest of lifeforms and letting them grow on their own. As he created the last of the bacteria on earth his brother appeared behind him with a mischevious smile on his face, this put Ha on edge as he knew his brother was up to something but could not tell what exactly it was at the time. 'Brother' Nix asked casually 'Can I help you with the next one?' Ha frowned and nodded 'Of course you can dear brother, we shall make this next planet the most glorious one in the expanse for we will have made it together!' As Ha turned his back to continue Nix unsheathed a dagger made from the heart of the very first star Ha had created and plunged it into his brothers back, twisting the blade when the hilt hit the spine. 'Now this universe is mine brother! Mine to create! To Control!' Nix cackled as he pulled the blade out. Ha turned to face his brother and before the poison took hold of him, ripped out the powers given to Nix by the universe and threw them at the seas of the Earth. Nix screamed in agony and fell through the atmosphere and into the ocean. 'You will regret this brother!' Nix cursed as Ha succumbed to the stars deathly serum. Fearing further action from his enraged brother Nix fled into the depths of the earth with what little power he had left to recouperate, gather his strength and find the powers stolen from him. Ha did not expire however, he was simply thrown into a deep slumber by the stars poison and remained in orbit around the earth as it grew into the strange place it is today. Some say he is still alive out there, somewhere, dreaming of new worlds he can create when he wakes up. Some also say that Nix is still alive, hiding somewhere on earth waiting to take his final revenge on his brother and the things he created. The End |

For the sake of actually providing relevant comment (and the fact that I managed to actually settle down for a few minutes to read this), I enjoyed it, it paints quite a picture for the imagination. ![]() I am looking forward to seeing how this fits into the Not Quite Human story. |
