Hey guys,

So, my thesis presentation is on Wednesday. And, man, am I nervous! GAHHH!!!!! SO nervous, I've been having butterflies in the stomach for the past week. I think this is one of the most nerve-testing things I've ever done. Sure, I get nervous when I go out on a date.... or awaiting exam results.... but nothing so much as this!

I'm trying to remain calm by reminding myself that I do actually know stuff, and that the people I'm presenting to I've known for a number of years now. Plus, a cup of tea helps also to quieten the nerves. ^__^

Have you guys ever had those deep stomach-clenching nerves for something? What was it? How do you keep calm in such situations? :)

Also - wish me good luck? ^.^

Cheers! ^.^ I had a study date today at the library, got to bounce a few ideas around with him (fellow Honours student) + received email from my long lost supervisor who gave me some helpful tips and words of encouragement.

Feeling a little bit better about it all... mostly I am just excited to get the presentation out of the way!

Plan for evening after seminar? = X-Files, crisps and absolutely nothing else. :P

I find i don't really get nervous, ever. I think this is a bad thing though. Things which I know are significant or somewhat dire, end up lower on my priority list because of this and i end up doing things last minute, during which I still pace myself however i feel like.

I was looking for a video/song about encouragement to post here for you
But when I searched, all I got was religious sermons and jesus bands...
Apparently the christian's have adopted encouragement as their own word.

^.^

After a practice read through and hours of editing the final draft, I think I have it down. I come to ~40 minutes, with 5 minutes to spare for emergency definitions and anecdotes.

Feeling good! I am still a bit nervous.... but, going to take the rest of the night to relax with a hot shower, packing for tomorrow and skimming through textbooks as a lazy read in bed... :)

Tomorrow I'll wake up early, head down to Uni - cash in my FREE coffee voucher at the Guild cafe (!), and do a final edit through... then 2pm the seminar begins.

I can't wait until this is all over.. I've been dreading this since I took on this Honours project last June. At least now I can spend the final month and half worrying about nothing but the thesis itself for submission.

Thank you, HappyDragon.... for dealing with my self-involved posts and anxious updates. :P

The Murdoch Guild has two cafe's here on campus, in the library. They are okay, coffee is decent most days..... and they have a stamp card thing - buy 9 coffee's, get the next one free.... which is why I am so excited about drinking this coffee that I am drinking right now.

Saves me $3.60! :D

I have an old Biomed companion who works now at the cafe.... I get extra stamps when he is taking orders. ^.^ Networking that actually pays off!

It isn't... and that is why I am not a member. :P

If I was, I could get my coffee for ~$2.80 instead of $3.60.... but, I don't mind too much. Any student can take advantage of the coffee stamps, and so I make it up with that instead.

I was only a member of the guild back in my first year - before they started charging people outragous fees each Semester (which I could never afford anyway). I found that I didn't really use their services enough to pay the membership fee. :)

--

Just to sort of finalise the story -

My thesis seminar went great! ^.^ Ten people showed up, mostly lecturers and classmates of mine who have helped me along the way. I spoke for 40 minutes, desired time. Answered most questions informatively and confidently. I am so happy! It was the -best- feeling once I finished and walked out into glorious sunshine!

Taking tomorrow off study to finally relax a bit and not think about anything. :)
