Hey guys. So, I was listening to Apocalyptica's song Farewell, a regular on my playlist. I was also playing that final epic scene in Saving Private Ryan in the background on my second screen, just for the visuals. To add the cherry on top, I was browsing in slideshow my pictures of Jeremy Davies (Daniel from Lost).... ... for no reason other than he is a beautiful, beautiful man. So... this is what I had displaying simultaneously on both screens (just imagine the scene of when Tom Hanks was trying desperately to shoot the tank coming towards him). ![]() Now then, if you can!, imagine this song, nearing the end a few minutes in at the dramatic wonderful climax: Me = total emotional breakdown. It just hit me that it was all too much at once!!!! :O !!! The music of Apocalyptica's haunting powerful tune to the desperate final attempts of Tom Hanks as his hope and will fades in a blank, cold expression as he pulls the trigger and finally the explosion as he hits the vital weak-spot. The planes arriving overhead.... the realisation that Tom's been hit quite badly and Daniel's shooting of the German officer. ~Sigh~~~ All too much! --- So... as you can tell, I'm having quite an uneventful Friday night, so this is what I do for fun instead. What are you guys up to? |

OMG. You know those fantasies that your mind often wonders to when you're dreaming about something really nice, some event or situation you would feel is the best thing that could happen to you? Mine apparently was put to film: Acquiring it as we speak! A story about two strangers meeting while the guy is performing music, they meet up sometimes having wonderful experiences together and great discussion. The discussion is the main focus in my daydreams.... if you can believe. Then they (meaning I and my dream man) both awkwardly come to the realisation they are falling in love with each other. ^_____^I think my lazy Sunday afternoon has just got itself a film while I trek through emotional elation. ![]() ....... ................. ..... I also think being single has finally made an effect on me if this is what I seriously consider to be a divinely created representation of my daydreams....... ![]() |

I have been telling everyone to see Once since it first came out and no one would take me seriously. It blew me away; Glen Hansard and John Carney are geniuses. It even won an Oscar for best original song from a motion picture. COME ON. It's the best musical i have ever seen. Ever. That being said i hate musical films with a passion. I even have a poster of it above my computer, it's only been there for what.... 5 years? With what you said i think it had a sad yet perfect ending under the circumstances of the film. What did you think of it Jen? |

Ah! You know, somehow I had a feeling you had seen this film George.. ![]() I thought it was wonderful. ^__^ I am usually not a big fan of musicals, but this one had me at every song. They were beautiful actors, and when they sang it came across as if they really really felt it. The ending surprised me, but I too thought it rounded off the movie well. Just yesterday I went back and re watched a few of the songs. I particularly enjoyed the one in the studio, the girl singing the song she wrote for her husband and her acting corresponding to the heart-breaking lyrics... it was great. They were great lyrics. ![]() Listen to George, give this movie a chance. ![]() |

Just to let you know, neither of the main characters in the film were actors. They had both never acted before in their lives, Glen Hansard is a musician from the Frames and Markéta Irglová is a studio pianist. Almost everyone else were friends or family of the cast and crew. The scene when they are all around a dinner table singing with their family was actually their own families and something they do regularly as a tradition. The performance they gave under those circumstances was just amazing. The many of the songs in the film were initially intended to be covers but when the budget came through as a miniscule 150 thousand they had no money to pay royalties. Glen and the director John Carney (also from The Frames) wrote all the songs in the film themselves. It was also John Carney's feature debut. There is so much more i can say about this film but ill leave it there. It is kind of my job to appreciate film in all its aspects so i understand no one seeing my recommendations at times. It just kills me inside to have someone say "Hey i saw -some film- and it was so good!" and i had told them about it before just to have them brush it off as a "musical" or "drama" or the thing i hate more than anything in the world "Does it have subtitles? Eww no, i dont watch movies with subtitles". *Edit: rushed spelling Edited by Bon Jovi, Apr 22 2011, 07:08 PM.

So... Turns out my -real- emotional breakdown occurred last night in the early hours of the AM. At 5am I sent -this- to Paul. I'm trying really hard to relax today, I joke about it a lot - but this really is a difficult time for me completing this thesis. I am scientist at heart, philosophy Honours? Seriously Jen? It is best to take things light-heartedly, right? =P I will keep this email to remind myself that someone actually has to read this... but... at least he knows now. It is just really hard to have him overseas these past four months. ~sigh So I thought I'd share this in light of good spirits and to provide a bit of a chuckle at. Back to the salt mines... |
