When they finally arrive in the fortress, Annatar is less than impressed. He has hoped that he'd convince Celebrimbor to abandon his plan for them to end up here happily ever after, but the stubborn elf wouldn't even hear about it. He doubted he actually even understood the subtle manipulation he tried to use on him. He looks around the place that is supposed to be his new room and sighs. It's dusty and mouldy and quite drafty - the fortress itself is falling apart. He sits on the bed and a large cloud spreads around him, making him sneeze and cough. Damn that elf! He leaves the bedroom to find him and give him a piece of his mind, and he has no intention to be subtle anymore. |

Celebrimbor looked up from where he was trying to clean up some of the appalling dust on the Master chamber. "Annatar, my beauty. It's better in here, cleaner than the rest, as bad as it is. I would like you to stay in here with me, if you would be willing. Much warmer, after all." His desire for the lovely and notorious Maia to share his quarters, had, of course, very little to actually do with cleanliness OR warmth. It was old love, sweet and cloying in its intensity, that was most motivating the ever youthful Mirdain lord, as he took in the sight of his adored, his doom and ruin, his heart's fondest wish and dream. "We may keep one another safe and secure, my fair Annatar, here in this farflung Keep, safe from the molestations of this world, and secure in our mutual love, yes?" |

Annatar looks at Celebrimbor as if he's grown a second head with goat horns on top of it. Is the elf for real? Remain in this dump for the rest of eternity? There's bigger chance of Anar, that trollop, falling from the sky than him staying here even one week. He's far too angry to subtle or manipulative at that moment, so he puts his hands on his waist, glares at the elf and simply says: "Celebrimbor, I hate it here. It's mouldy and dirty and dusty, and everything is falling apart. I have more self-respect that stay..." he pauses, despite his anger he doesn't wish to hurt the elf's feelings than saying it's a dump "in this ruin. Please, can't we go somewhere else?" Anything to get them out of the old fortress and on the road again. Perhaps this time he'd be more successful in making Celebrimbor follow him onto his quest for his Precious. |

Despondent at the tone in his beloved's voice, Celebrimbor struggled to stay calm himself, and made the point: "Annatar, my beauty, perfect of Eru's creation, you must certainly understand I was able to achieve your release from prison by only the very thinnest of margins? You have no army, you have only me, such as I am, and the mercy of the Istar and Eru himself. We are here because we are hidden, there is no other place for us at the moment, even Mordor, Minas Morgul, all are being watched." Gently, he took the gold toned Maia into his arms again. "Artano beloved, when I came here, I came under the weight of a lie told to Namo Mandos---I beseeched him to allow me to come to you and ask due recompense for my murder and torture. I was allowed to come here ONLY on that accord, and as you see, I have done the opposite. I have asked nothing of you, nor tried to exact any vengeance. The Valar themselves may not be too well pleased with me, as they are with you as well. In hiding, we MUST remain." |

Sauron glares at Celebrimbor, his full lower lip sticking out in a full pout. What the damn elf says is true, and they both know it. It doesn't mean he has to like it or agree with it. All he wants at the moment is to flee this dump in the middle of nowhere and go after his Precious. He relaxes in the elf's arms and lays his head on his shoulder, sighing softly. Perhaps a little honesty is in order. "Tell me, Celebrimbor, who do you think I am? An obedient, sweet little elven maiden who would do whatever she is told, so that she would please her mate and the will of the Vala?" he asks, still cuddled in the strong embrace. "Have you forgotten who I AM? WHAT I AM?" he looks up into the elven eyes and allows his own to glow with their vicious preternatural fire. "I am Sauron, Celebrimbor. You tell me you love me, but you need to choose who do you really love. Me, the Maya who betrayed the Vala, who has followed the will of the one you call Morgoth Bauglir, who shared his bed and who was his right hand and his most trusted lieutenant. Or is it that you love an idealised image of me, the person YOU want me to be, and you would put me in this cage in an attempt to force me to be the person from your fantasies?" the glow of his eyes intensifies to a bright white glow "If that is your intention, Celebrimbor, better kill me now and be done with it. I will not bend to your will, or the Vala's, for that matter. I never have and never will." It is a huge gamble, he knows, but sometimes one needed to take the greatest risks to reap the greatest rewards. |

"I have forgotten nothing, my beauty, not my own screams as I was burned and gouged and impaled at your hand, nor the cries of my people as they fell to your orcs. I have not forgotten the screams of elven blood for justice in the legends of you and your lover, nor the thirst in the hearts of Men to alleviate the ruin you brought to Arda. I have forgotten nothing. But in my love for you, I can --and I DO--forgive all that was done to myself. I have no power to forgive for any other of your wrongs, but for all that I may, I do. I am under no illusions, no fancies, and I have not taken leave of any of my senses." He held the guilty party close, and nuzzled the soft golden flood of perfect hair. "I see you as you are, what you were, and most of all, what you might be yet. Not a vision of my own desires, but that which you yourself might aspire to. But whatever your path, Annatar, I will love you, I will cherish you, and I will never let you go. I will ascend any heights and suffer any pain or indignities for you." There was no mistake, no error in the elf Lord's heart or mind. He knew what his beloved was, and he accepted it. He did not CONDONE it, but for the sake of love, he accepted. |

Sauron's expression grew guarded as Celebrimbor talked of his past transgressions against his people and he listened to him quietly. Finally, when the elf was done talking, he looks up at him, allowing the light in his eyes to fade, his expression becoming a picture of love. "If that is true, my love, if you truly are capable of accepting what I am, then I beg you to allow me to leave. Come with me. I would not ask of you to aid me on my quest, but I ask you to accompany me out of this place. I cannot stay here. I need you to understand... that Ring, I do not need it for the sole purpose of ruling, I need it because it is part of me. I forged it with part of my power, part of my Fea. Without it on my finger, I am an incomplete, miserable being. I am empty, the world seems gray, my senses are blinded because my soul is torn and mutilated. I need my Precious to be whole again. I have endured for so long without it and it is a torture that is slowly driving me insane. Help me, Celebrimbor." |

He was done, was he not? Of course he was, he was a beaten Elf, and he knew it, just as before, just EXACTLY as before, he would deny his beloved nothing. No, not as before, before he HAD refused him access to the Rings in his power to hide, and so brought down the fatal wrath of his lover. This time, weaker and more eager to please the angelic creature, he would refuse nothing. Thereby, of course, dooming them both, in all likelihood. Had he brought Sauron to the edge of Ruin again now, by beginning this again? If---and when---Sauron fell again, and pulled him down as well, how could he live with himself? "My love, my sweet fair faced and purely worshipped, how can I refuse you anything? I never could could I? But I implore you, the clear mistake of such a venture is very real before us, and there is no denying that as well. The others when they discover your absence will assuredly take steps to restrain you once more, and no doubt, myself as well! I can only fathom that you must have used some manner of guile on Elrond himself, I can not imagine he would have ever agreed as he did. But yes--you are unhappy, and it wounds me. Let us depart, on the accursed journey. I see no good coming of this, but I have lost the power to deny you. Alas, for both of us, Annatar." |

Sauron gave his lover a warm, pleased smile and put his head on the elf's strong shoulder. "I knew I could trust you, Celebrimor. You have never disappointed me. I promise you, and I do not give my promises lightly, I will do my best not to disappoint you as well." Then, he gently pulled himself from his arms and put a chaste kiss on his lips. "I will go prepare for our journey. We must leave as soon as possible." |

They left at dawn, and Sauron was, as always, resplendent, and the elf never took his eyes off of him. A smile graced Cele's lips as he took in the golden radiance of the magnificent Maia, and they departed, on horseback no less, for Cele had been able to procure two steeds for them --a bay and a beautiful pearl white stallion--Sauron he had insisted take the snow white mount, and he took the lesser in perfection, the bay. They headed south, Sauron seeming to sense the Ash Naz in that direction, and the way was seeming straight enough to him. Due south, towards Mordor, towards first of all Minas Morgul, now held strong by Er Murazor and the Ulairi horde, all Nine together to guard the western outpost for Sauron in his absence. Celebrimbor rode at an even canter besides his lover, aware of his crime now, more fully, in the open air, the cool freshness seeming to brutally remind him of other things, more innocent and less evil, that had all gone before now. Now he was a traitor to the Valar themselves, just as Sauron was. Sauron's horse suddenly broke into a faster pace, and then before the elf lord really knew what was happening, they were racing southwards, Sauron's long hair flying behind him, hellbent in every sense to reach the object of his ardent desire---before it was too late. (( OOC South, towards MM )) |
