Just looking at his demeanor, one would think Charles to be born of nobility. Yet, they couldn't be any more wrong, for Charles Brandon is but the second son of a lowly standard bearer. His father was Sir William Brandon who bore the standard to King Henry VII during the Battle of Bosworth-Field. There he died by the hand of Richard the Third, leaving Charles fatherless. The King decided to take the child into his household and raised him alongside his own son, who would one day be known as Henry VIII.
From a young age, Charles was schooled in the arts of reading and writing. Not necessarily God fearing, Charles went through all the the sacraments that were required by the Holy Church, but never truly adhered to it's principles.

Growing up in the Hampton Court, he was surrounded day and night by the upper nobility. Not being a noble himself, Charles felt that he had much to prove to his superiors. What he lacked in bloodlines, he made up for with charm and effort. Charles gave all his best in whatever endeavor he decided to undertake. Be it hunting, swimming or letters, Charles quickly mastered his skills gaining the approval of his teachers and the admiration from his younger friends.
A few years older than Henry VIII, Charles was a sort of mentor to the young prince as the two were growing up. Having much to prove, Charles seldom allowed the young prince to beat him at practice duels or sporting events. This gained him the younger boy's respect, and caused the two to become the closest of friends.

The two boys, along with William Compton, were practically inseparable growing up. Wherever there was one boy, the other two were never far behind.
The close relationship between the three remained such even in adulthood. When he came of age, Charles' friendship with the future King, along with his skills in combat and chivalry, earned him a Knighthood and the job of Royal Cupbearer . The title "Sir" was affixed to his name, and small stipend was given to him every month.

The new found money, and title, were all Charles needed to succeed in his favorite pastime: women. For the young knight was a dashing young man, he held the favor, and the flowers, to many of the realms mistresses.
Charles stood by Prince Henry when the King passed. Comforting, and consoling, his longtime friend as the youth transitioned into his new role of King of England, Wales, Ireland and France. Standing proudly among the nobility, Charles was witness to the coronation as the kingdom was ushered into the new era under King Henry the Eighth.

kyp ▲ 25
<a href=http://z10.invisionfree.com/Shadowplay/index.php?showuser=7567">•••
[/doHTML] |
