Catherine was devastated. Hadn't Guy suffered enough at the hands of their grandfather and the tragedy he went through when he was just a boy losing his father? Catherine lost track of how many times she had cried. She wasn't allowed to even see her cousin, which only made her more upset. She had already lost her brother, she couldn't lose her favourite cousin too. She had no one to talk to about it, as much of the time she refused to talk about it, or she was simply trying to be strong, especially for the younger women in her family, namely Ellie and her cousin-in-law Margaret.

The men in her family weren't really helpful either, she was sick of men and the thought that her favourite uncle ended up being the one who had to arrest his own nephew just killed her inside. She didn't want to lay any of this on her parents either, it would just upset them too greatly. No, she was in this on her own it seemed. But keeping all of this bottled up inside wasn't doing her any good. She didn't have a real purpose here at court and now that her important cousin was locked in the tower for treason, she didn't think she would be getting any marriage offers any time soon, which of course only made her more miserable.

She was a failure to her family and to her family's honour and she couldn't do anything about it because the fact that she was a woman. She spent less and less time in public, not really afraid of the whispers and stares against her family, but what would happen to her if she acted against them. She had bitten her late grandfather, surely if she did something against her family's enemies would make things worse for her? But then the rumours started, specifically courtiers who considered someone bigger behind this act of treason and the name she heard the most was 'Norfolk'. It may not be true, because it was just rumours right?

It was enough though to have Catherine leave the Great Hall in a hurry. She missed having her French friends and family around. She hated the English court, which only made her wish she had smuggled herself on the French ship before it left. She felt like an outcast from her family as everyone else was getting married or marriage offers but her. She didn't know what she was doing wrong, but perhaps it had a lot to do with her character. She wondered if she should go home to her parents and live the rest of her days caring for her adopted sister, Millicent. But she couldn't bare the disappointed looks her parents would give her if she returned without a marriage proposal. She didn't know how to fix herself, no matter how she pretended everything was alright. Catherine though was just a bomb ready to explode, and it happened when she came face to face with a dark headed Howard in the hallway.

It didn't matter that he wasn't exactly a Howard, all reason had left her mind. It was just lucky that no one else was around to bear witness to the crazy half Spencer. Tears already stung her eyes as she confronted the man before she could think what she was doing. Her tiny fists hit his chest, which probably felt nothing to him but an annoyance. "This is all your family's fault! What did Guy ever do to you?" Realising now how silly she was being, she burst into tears and slumped to the floor, crying into her hands. Finally, her emotional bottle had burst.
