George was born to Sir Thomas Boleyn and Lady Elizabeth Howard, the eldest surviving son of their marriage and the eldest child overall. Though born in Blickling Hall, the family's home, he spent most of his youth growing up at Hever Castle in Kent. Some of his fondest memories from childhood include running through the beautiful gardens there with his sisters, Mary and Anne, with whom he is very close. From a young age he was expected to follow in his father's footsteps and become a courtier and politician. It was not where young George's heart lied, but he was raised that way nonetheless. He often found life at Hever stifling and was forever begging to be taken to court.

At age ten, he was granted his wish and taken to court in the hopes that he would be accepted into one of the households of the royal family. He was introduced to Henry VIII's court during the Christmas festivities where he mingled with several other young men with whom he would become especially close with later in his life. A combination of his family's influence and his already charming personality earned him a place within the future king's household as a page boy. He could not have been happier. Court was very different from the quiet country life he'd experienced at Hever and he threw himself into the hedonism whenever he could.

He quickly discovered his like and aptitude for cards and gambling. His Boleyn wit and observation let very little slip away from him and it did not take him long to learn how to flirt with women. It started as a game for the young boy but quickly grew into something more over the months that followed. Already naturally charming, it did not take young George long to develop a reputation for himself among the other courtiers. Almost everyone got along with George - those who did not were among the most conservative members of the court, and George didn't wish to associate himself with them anyway. He very much enjoyed the fun the court offered him and intended to enjoy it, despite repeated warnings from his family to cut it out and change his ways.

George also involved himself in various other courtly activities, including bowls, tennis, archery and hunting. It's still very rare for him to miss something; he would have to be on his deathbed to decline an offer to dance with a pretty lady or gamble. He became a familiar, entertaining face in the court's social life and is generally welcome anywhere people want to have a good time. In 21st century terms, there ain't no party like a George Boleyn party.

His education continued while he was at court. It was expected that he follow in his father's footsteps as a diplomat and he learned some Italian and Latin, and spent some time at the university of Oxford, though he never graduated. Though the hedonism of court was distracting and pleasurable, George did soak in his lessons and learn a great deal from them, even if very few people have seen them practically applied. He's become a talented linguist and translator, though his personal reputation and lack of true ambition is keeping him from turning his talents into a career.

George became perfectly fluent in French following a brief trip with his father abroad during one January. His eyes were opened to the wild and notoriously sinful life of the French court. He spent more of the trip flirting with French women and drinking than paying attention to his lessons, and he taken home with Sir Thomas soon after despite the many friends he made at the French court. His father made it clear the Boleyn money would not support his son's increasingly out-of-bounds habits. It was here that George began to seriously delve into gambling. His luck held with him and he amassed enough money through cards to continue to carry on how he pleased. He also began writing poetry, turning many a fair head with his words.

To the Boleyns and Howards, George was turning out to be a disappointment. His reputation at court was both excellent and terrible - almost everyone loved George and almost everyone knew his dearest vices and he did very little to disguise them. In an attempt to make George useful for something, he was married to Lady Jane Parker, a wealthy heiress. In preparation for his marriage, he received Grimston Manor, a country mansion in which he was supposed to make his home. He very rarely visits it, preferring to spend most of his time at court.

His marriage to Jane Parker only made him worse. George found nothing but disgust and contempt for his snarky little wife and only threw himself deeper into London's brothels and put more effort into chasing the skirts of the women at court. His family married him to the only woman he has no desire for and he has become increasingly bitter about it. So far they have had no children; George has made little attempt to try for one.

After his unwanted marriage, George's thoughts have begun to turn inward as he considers what he really wants. Years of gambling, drinking and chasing women into bed have begun to wear on him and a little voice is beginning to suggest this might not be all life has to offer. Yet he sees no way to escape the Boleyn web spun around him, a thought he represses with more drinking, more gambling and more women. He's caught in a vicious cycle and some part of him recognizes there's no way out. Sometimes he wants to escape. Sometimes he likes the power of the Boleyn name too much.

When it comes to religion, George is outwardly a Catholic but secretly longs for religious reform. He would welcome Lutheranism should it enter King Henry's court, but recognizes that now is not the time for him to speak of his personal religious ideals. To do so might mean losing his head and he jokingly tells himself he's too pretty for the scaffolds.

Thus far, George has made very little attempt to further the Boleyn name - only his own has risen with his charm and his smile. He dislikes his family's attempts to manipulate their way into power, though he is beginning to recognize its importance - especially now that his sister Mary carries the king's child. Even George can see where this might lead the Boleyn family and though he has money, he has yet to earn a title for himself. He is not immune to the Boleyn feelings of arrogance and feels the sting of being titleless among some of the other men at court. What better way to earn himself something then by tying himself to his sweet sister's fate?

Despite the impression he's given others for his entire life, George is no fool. A Boleyn girl caught the king's eye - now the games have truly begun. Mary's babe might be enough to pull George out of the cesspool of sin he's lived in and make him a true courtier yet.

Or at very least, the uncle of a king.

Sashalle reigned in her horse as she topped the next crest, looking over the land before her as she embraced saidar. There was no threat that she could see, no Trolloc horde swarming over the surrounding hills. That was good news. The Blight had been quiet the past few times she visited her homeland of Saldaea - perhaps too quiet. Her lips pressed together tightly for a moment as she tried to puzzle out what it meant. Look at her, looking for Trollocs like a Green and musing over patterns in history like a Brown. Sometimes she did not think there was an Ajah right for her.

But there was no use considering what she could not change. With a nudge of her heels, she set off down the next hill, navigating through the forest easily. Riding had always been one of her favorite pastimes, but it had also been taught to Saldaean girls as a matter of survival. She still remembered how to use her knives and her body to protect herself, but she had not done so for several long years. She was Aes Sedai, now. Aes Sedai did not twirl knives between their fingertips. At least they were still permitted to ride horses. It would have been foolish to not allow them to; how else would they get anywhere?

For some time, she rode by herself, nothing but the sound of the occasional animal breaking the silence. She mounted another hill and found the Arinelle River, ready and flowing as it always was. Embracing saidar again, she peered into the distance, looking to see if she could see the famed towers of Maradon, the Saldaean capital. That was her destination, today. She had gotten news that the last of her siblings had passed away and with that, she considered it safe to return home. She was to inherit the minor title her childless brother had possessed. All that was left was filling out the paperwork; something few people wished to sit down and do with an Aes Sedai. Her business would be brief, and then she would be on her way again.

But for the moment, it was beginning to grow dark and clouds were gathering in the sky. It would rain soon. She did not need a talent in reading the weather to know that. She lifted her reins again, guiding her horse toward the river. That would be a good place to camp, and perhaps bathe a little so she could properly impress tomorrow. She did not wish to weave saidar if she could help it. There was no need for a sister to find her and interfere in her business. The King of Saldaea had at least one Aes Sedai adviser - each country had them, of course - but Sashalle would not be stopping to say hello.

Upon arriving at a suitable place, Sashalle dismounted, guiding her horse to the river bank so it might drink. She had removed its tiredness from it several hours earlier so it might carry her without complaint; they had been riding for several days now, and she wished to make good time. Tonight, she would let it rest a little longer and regain its strength before they began tomorrow. She resisted to take off her slippers and dip her feet in the cool water, settling for leaning down to cup her hand in the river and drink that way.

A few droplets of rain were beginning to fall now, and Sashalle moved to undo the canvas tied to her horse, planning on erecting a shelter for herself. For a few moments, she worked in silence - then the small crack of a twig caught her ear. Aes Sedai calm in place, she embraced saidar, slowing turning to gaze in the direction of the noise. "Show yourself," She commanded in a voice that was soft, but carried into the brush. To the untrained eye, she appeared a woman in Saldaean attire, out for a ride. A skilled someone might recognize her face for an Aes Sedai's. The rain began to fall lightly, beginning to wet her hair. Sashalle sighed internally. Hopefully this would not take long.
