*1507* Andrew was restless. But then when wasn’t he? He had been visiting the Dacre family on and off for years, with such a large family there was always something interesting happening. Though one particular Dacre he was most interested in, Marion. She was such a tomboy, just like the Jane Guildford he grew up with. They at least were women Andrew preferred; women who went out of their way to be proper ladies sometimes bored him, but never Marion. Perhaps because he had been thrown into her life and corrupted her. Just like any other male he was ignorant of any feelings Marion may have for him, to him they were just friends. Just a boy in woman’s clothing. Andrew never considered Marion as a woman he would want to sleep with, but for the past year Andrew couldn’t help notice the change in his friend. She was changing from a tomboy to a woman. Years before he could pretend that there was nothing different between them, but it was becoming harder to ignore. He didn’t want anything to change; he wanted everything to be the same as it was. And no doubt, now that she was of age she would be married off and possibly lost to him forever. No matter how much he tried to put it out of his mind, it was getting harder for him to not see her as a woman, just another of the many he had slept with. He was older than her yes, but he still acted like a child. If Marion’s father knew how much he was corrupting his daughter, Andrew would have received twice the amount of punishment he had received in the past. Like this day, he was restless and summer was extremely irritating. So riding bareback upon his horse, it didn’t take him long to seek out his friend. Grinning mischievously, he reined in beside her out in the gardens and held out his hand. He expected to kidnap this girl. “Marion, let’s ride and go swimming, this heat is killing me!” |

Marion knew she was much too old to be playing in the garden with her younger siblings in such a way, but she couldn’t help. Eleanor, Anne, Edward, and Francis were simply much more interesting than her mother and the stuffy indoors, where her elder sisters spent their days reading and sewing and doing all sorts of womanly things. They were especially busy now, preparing for her eldest brother’s marriage, which was to be quite the event. It wasn’t going to be an event of shocking grandeur, but it would still be somewhat extravagant, if her mother would have her way. Marion almost feared for anybody who dared oppose the woman, who she knew could be quite vicious from time to time. She knew that any day she could be married off to an old man; she could be a mother in another year, should she find the appropriate suitor in time. It almost caused her a panic, the idea that she could be so responsible in such a short amount of time. It all depended one what her parents desired, and at least so far they seemed content to focus on their older daughters, particularly Magdalen, who was so unfairly smart and beautiful, in Marion’s opinion. The sound of laughing children broke her from her thoughts, and she noticed Eleanor chasing after their brothers, seemingly angered by something they had said or done. Both boys, and Mary, who sat on the sidelines of such an amusing situation, were erupting in fits of giggles at the red of their sister’s face. Even Marion couldn’t help but laugh a little, if only because she felt so carefree. The sound of a horse distracted her from her sisters, and she turned to see a comforting sight. Riding towards her was Andrew Dudley, the man who held her heart and had yet to know it. Perhaps he never would know, she thought somewhat somberly. For now, however, the brightest smile lit up her face. What would today bring, she wondered. It was so very hot, so hopefully nothing inside of the stuffy house. His horse pulled up beside her, and he told her of his plans. How could she deny such an offer? It was, after all, rather hot today, and she could use a bit of playing around for now. ”We can’t have that, now can we? What would I do without an Andrew Dudley in my life?” she said happily, accepting the hand he offered her. |

As he waited for Marion to agree (because almost always she did), Andrew noticed the redness of the younger Eleanor’s face. It didn’t take him long to work out what had occurred with her brothers cheekily laughing their faces off and Mary in a fit of giggles. He grinned slowly, remembering such moments when he and Jerome did much the same with their own sister. Though John always seemed to like chiding them for it, which always spoiled the fun, but that was just like John, especially when he started to act as if something was stuck up his…well that was a long time ago. But John was still the same, and despite Andrew now being a man, he too was much the same as he used to be, except he found other things to entertain him now. One such distraction was before him and he grinned at her reply. “You would be bored and miserable without me.” Such a darling she was. If he ever considered marrying anyone he wouldn’t mind it being her. But he was too wild for anyone to try and tie him down into a marriage; he wasn’t suited for such a life, well not right now at least. He shifted backwards on his horse, before taking hold of her hand. Normally, he would just swing her up behind him, but he was in a strange mood and instead wrapped his other arm around her and hoisted her up in front of him. He then took a firm hold of her hips and helped her settle between him and the neck of the horse. Then to keep her in place, he wrapped his arms around the sides of her to take up the reins again. Once they were settled, he nodded to her brothers and winked at her sisters. “Don’t go telling anyone will you?” After much time with the Dacre family, he was already quite popular with her younger siblings and they wouldn’t dare tell on him. He though would be doomed if they decided they were jealous and whinged about being left out, but Andrew didn’t think of these things. After giving the youngsters a grin, he urged the horse on and before anyone could stop them they were gone. It didn’t take long for them to reach the lake. It was one of Andrew’s favourite spots in the area, especially in the summer. Reining in his horse, he helped Marion down first, then hopped off, leaving his horse to wander. He gave Marion a quick peck on the lips, it had been a natural thing for them to do when they were younger, but now it felt a little different. But before Andrew could think on it, he ran to the edge of the lake, stripping down as he went. “Come on! Last one is a chicken!” After hopping on his feet, he managed to strip down to his linen shorts and dove right in. |

Marion didn’t know how much longer she had to be so lighthearted. When would it be that she would be taken from her family’s home to care for one of her own? The fear was very real, and a part of her knew it was too much to hope for that she would marry Andrew. She shook the thought from her head, instead focusing on the man in front of her, who lifted her into the saddle. It was strange; she didn’t usually sit in front of him. She didn’t question it, however, settling into a comfortable position with ease. She eyed her siblings, who seemed to want to go along with what Andrew suggested. Good. Marion didn’t want to have to deal with her mother when she got back (not that her younger siblings had ever really made a habit of tattling on her). Without another word the horse took off. Marion couldn’t help but enjoy the feel of the air on her face, the smell of the woods. No matter if she was on a hunt or simply a walk, she’d always enjoyed the outdoors. They were so free, so beautiful, and there was simply so much to see. The smile on her face remained, as relaxed as the look in her eyes. They eventually arrived at the lake, and she was immediately elated. Swimming was a joy, especially on a day so hot and unbearable. Marion couldn’t get off the horse quick enough, ready to jump in the water as soon as her feet hit the ground. She paused for a moment when Andrew gave her a quick kiss; it was a normal thing to do, but each time it made her heart flutter. However, the moment’s hesitation saw him running towards the water, stripping as he went. Marion saw fit to follow, having a harder time taking off pieces of her own outfit. The race was announced, and she found herself losing. Oh well. Eventually down to what she’d swim in, Marion joined him, enjoying the cold water. ”So eager to get in the water, are you? Is it possible that you are part fish?” she teased, splashing water over in his direction. If only her mother could see her now, she might have a fit. Marion could only think of how amusing it would be. ”Of course, that would make us a strange sight to see. A fish who can walk on land and chicken who can swim,” she pondered, laughing at the image. Andrew had dived right in without thinking of just how cool the water would be. It took the breath out of him for but a moment but within minutes after resurfacing he was quite used to the temperature. It was now rather soothing; he could feel his warm body cooling. His head had popped out of the water at the right moment to hear Marion’s question. He laughed and shrugged, swimming over to her and dunking her under the water, before helping her back up to meet his grinning face. “A chicken? Well you look like a mighty fine chicken, good enough to eat!” He swam away from her before she could get him back for the dunking. And before she could catch him, he dived under the water again and for a long moment he didn’t reappear. What might hope such a fool like he would have drowned, but it wasn’t that at all. Marion would soon feel something touch her leg and before she could do anything, Andrew grabbed her and as he resurfaced her threw her up in the air. He looked on and watched as she was airborne for a brief second before making a resounding splash as she fell back into the water. He chuckled and slowly swam over to her, grabbing either side of her waist, to steady her and allow her to the time to recover. He gave her a charming smile, as he gripped the sides of her corset. “Come on, you know you love me.” He grinned and slid closer to her. “But you might drown with this weighing you down.” Before she could stop him, he unlaced her corset rather easily and tugged it off her. But then he paused when he noticed that water combined with her chemise didn’t hide much at all. “Oh…” Andrew looked rather dumb now, floating there in the water with her corset in his hand, floating by him, while he couldn’t stop staring at what he had revealed. He had seen breasts before, but he had always been trying to fight the mere fact that Marion was a woman now and should be treated differently. And now his fantasy was wiped away as quick as a woman could slap him. Awkwardly, he tried to return the corset to her torso, but it wouldn’t cooperate with him. Removing garments was way easier than returning them to one’s body, and the fact that the garment continued on wanting to float, didn’t help any either. |
