    - - - - Dreams, There is nothing that Marion desires more than to earn her mother’s praise, although she would also like for her name to be somewhat known.

    - - - - Fears, Marion is afraid of being an old, lonely woman. She enjoys a colorful lifestyle, and not only does the idea of aging frighten her, she also hates being left alone. She will do anything to ensure that she does not die a life as a burden.

    - - - - Overall Personality,

What is it that makes up Marion? Perhaps the most underlying trait is her low self-esteem, stemming from an extremely critical mother and the lack of a support system as a child. She was not given much attention, and therefore does some things that may be considered undesirable to gain it. She hates being left alone, almost as much as she hates letting her family or her loved ones down. Marion also has a difficult time making up her mind, often saying one thing one day and another the next. She can be described as vain, although this is merely an attempt to protect herself from criticism that may stem from an unsightly physical appearance. Speaking of criticism, she doesn’t take it well, even if it’s meant in the kindest of ways.

Marion tends to keep her true thoughts to herself, and can be described as ‘fake’. Whether this is merely part of her manipulative nature or a defense mechanism has yet to be seen. She is rather selfish, and isn’t afraid to get what it is she wants, using people like mere play dolls if it ends out well for her or her family. However, she does listen to authority, and when directly asked a question from somebody she respects she will answer in a truthful and straightforward manner.

As for her more positive traits, she is extremely witty, and enjoys making puns and saying things that may be considered insightful. She hates sitting around, preferring to always be doing something, whether it be flirting with different men of the court (something which earns her a reputation as a bit of a whore) or listening to poetry being read out loud. Marion is a very playful woman, enjoying not only mental but physical exercises. Well, those appropriate for women, at least. She also holds her family close to her, no matter what disputes she may have with them at any given time. They are among the only people she can be counted as truly loyal to.

Outwardly, Marion can be a bit of witch, depending on how she is treated or who she is interacting with. If she is treated like the dirt beneath one’s shoe, and she is of equal rank to said person, then it is likely that somebody will receive somewhat subtle insults. If she is envious of somebody, particularly of women who are well educated, then she will likely be extremely petty and somewhat hostile. If somebody lacks a sense of a humor, she simply continues to tell jokes, getting a form of entertainment off of their frustration.

    - - - - Overall History,
Marion was born into a crowded house, already having seven older siblings, which left little for her to inherit on her own. From an early age it was well known that her best chance at a successful life was to marry well, and marry early. The majority of her childhood was spent being overlooked and criticized, mostly by her mother. Her education wasn’t neglectful in any sense; she was taught to read, which is more than many could say at that time. However, she wasn’t a thoroughly educated woman, and came to envy those who could fluently speak multiple languages and write their own letters. This envy, her loneliness, and her low self-esteem contributed to a childhood that wasn’t always happy.

She often found solace in the boys that would occasionally visit their house, becoming attached to one in particular. They became close friends, and as the years passed they fell in love. Unfortunately, he was interested in more women than just her, and became a bit of a womanizer. When she discovered this fact, Marion was heartbroken, and went into a bit of a depression. She remained friends with this man, and continued flirting with him, although it would seem that their romantic interest in one another simply disappeared.

One by one her siblings were married off, and over the years she gained a few, younger brothers and sisters as well. She was sympathetic towards her little sisters, who shared perhaps the same prospects as herself. Her two older sisters were married off well enough, and her oldest brother, Thomas, married twice and had a son. Marion was eventually sent off to court, and served as a lady in waiting to the Queen until her tragic death.

  • - - - - Roleplay Sample,
Delicate zephyrs twisted in her curly hair, whispering promises of lightening bugs and cicadas into her ears. The sky was a canvas of color, with shades ranging from peach to navy, and stars just starting to dust the air like the snow that she so hated. A reminiscent expression crossed the blonde child’s face; it was here that she felt the most at home.

Annabelle remembered when her mother would bring her here, when she would play with her amongst the waves and mistake plastic bags for jellyfish. She remembered staying out on the beach to watch the sunset, and cooking smores over the open fire, with the marshmallows burnt to a crisp, just like they liked. She recalled the feeling of heavy eyelids and a mother’s warm embrace, and the feeling that she was truly loved. The memories left a bittersweet taste on her tongue and a tear in her eye, for these were the only things she had left of her mother. She didn’t want to recall the visits to the hospital, or the weight that she had continued to lose in her considerably slow decline. No, she’d rather think of the happy times. The happy times that felt like they’d happened decades ago, even if it had only been three years.

She felt a strong hand clasped on her shoulder, and she looked up, seeing a few tears on the aging face. She could trace its path through the premature wrinkles, creased in with stress and worry. It was then that she knew it was alright to cry, alright to be mad and frustrated. Tears ran like rivers down her face, and crying noises were emitted from her throat. The hand on her shoulder tightened, attempting to console the little girl. It was useless; she needed to let it out, to release the tensions that had been adding up for quite some time. It seemed like hours that she was standing there, when really it was just a few, long, tear-filled minutes that exhausted her. When her tears were finally spent and her face with swollen and blotchy, the sky had turned a deep shade of navy, and now the few speckles in the sky had been joined by other, and they were currently engaged in a beautiful dance across the universe.

She grabbed her father’s calloused hand and nodded, and they both turned to head back to the car, having just survived the one-year anniversary of the death of Annabelle’s mother. They left behind nothing to mark this occasion, nothing but a single rose that they’d felt necessary to leave. It was here that she felt most present, after all. She had always seemed happy there, even when she was in pain and when she had absolutely no reason to be happy.

And it was so that a family tradition was born.
