    - - - - Fears, To have no direction and to end up in the same situation as her aunt.
    - - - - Overall Personality, Elisabeth is a headstrong sort. She has been taught to hold her convictions and never be afraid to speak her mind. Of course she also has the social graces expected of a courtier, young though she is, and she is quite kind and empathetic. There is, however, a slightly superficial streak in her and she sometimes judges too quickly. Due to her aunt's situation, she is afraid of getting too close and counts on her displays of arrogance and intelligence to keep anyone at arms' length.

She is the type that will never bend to the will of another unless they share mutual interests or it serves her own personal interest. If she agrees to do such things, she is fiercely loyal and will never sell out anyone she has given her loyalty to. Coercion is possible, but no one has ever pushed her hard enough.

Often she can be impatient and despises being left to wait by anyone be they of high position or not. Not the vengeful kind, Elisabeth prefers for guilt to quietly eat away at someone until they are forced to apologize. If they have no conscience, she simply bears them no other thoughts.

    - - - - Overall History, George Brooke, Baron Cobham, was a man like any other man. His desire was to father as many sons as he could and to his disappointment, his wife Anne delivered a daughter on her first pregnancy and the second. Elisabeth was this second child and despite her sister Dorothy receiving disinterest from their father, he paid special attention to her. Even a year later, when Elisabeth's first brother arrived, he still spoiled her and made certain she had everything she needed. Anne, on the other hand, gave equal attention to all her children as they were born and did her best to foster love between the eight siblings. She worried for Elisabeth's relationship with Dorothy, believing their father's actions would have terrible consequences later in life. The sisters, and their other siblings, rarely treated each other badly, however. They squabbled like any other siblings would, but it was usually in jest. Elisabeth looked up to Dorothy and would often imitate her as she was two years older and in the child's mind, more wordly.

When she was six and Dorothy was eight, George sent them to Elisabeth's namesake, Lady Elizabeth Wyatt. Anne tried to persuade her husband against it as she didn't believe her sister-in-law could teach her daughters proper social graces and other womanly duties, considering she was openly living in adultery and estranged from her husband, Sir Thomas Wyatt. George was unmovable on the subject, though; he was very close to his sister and didn't like anyone speaking ill of her. Privately, he worried over the same issues as his wife, but he didn't want to insult his beloved sister. He told his daughters not to listen to any gossip or let anyone speak against their aunt. Elisabeth would follow this advice, but Dorothy would not. Until that point, the sisters lived happily with their aunt and her live-in lover.

Lady Wyatt saw to it that they learned the proper social graces and had them instructed in horsemanship, embroidery, household direction, writing, and religion. She ignored her sister-in-law's pleas not to teach them anything controversial. Elisabeth loved each of her lessons and thirsted for more, pressing her tutors for any information they could give her. Her tutors sent reports to the baron and baroness, expressing their pleasure of having such an engaging pupil. Anne continued to worry for her daughters' marriagibility, feeling no man would marry a ward of a woman such as Lady Wyatt. At ten, Elisabeth was irritated by her mother's treatment of her aunt and began to refuse to write her. Twelve-year-old Dorothy requested to return home and be given in wardship to someone else as she was unable to stand what was being said about her aunt and hated her for Elisabeth's decision to isolate herself from their mother. The request was granted and George Brooke wrote letters to Elisabeth, pleading with her to forgive her mother. Nothing was said for her to be given as a ward to the same family as Dorothy and their younger sister, Catherine.

Elisabeth was presented at court at thirteen, meant to be given a place at court that would gain her aunt some respect, but she was called home after being there for only a few days. Dorothy had died of smallpox and George wanted Elisabeth to marry her intended, John Jerningham whose family Dorothy and Catherine were in wardship, too. Elisabeth didn't care for John and he didn't care for her. He complained she was too outspoken and didn't wish for a wife so headstrong. Elisabeth, in turn, complained he was too bland to be her husband and she didn't feel such a man would give her many children. Scandalized by her behavior, she was sent back to Lady Wyatt and arrangements were made for her sister Catherine to marry him. Elisabeth soon received a letter of appreciation from Catherine who had wanted to marry John all along. To her, he was handsome and strong and she was certain she would give birth to many strong sons for him. Elisabeth didn't want to create trouble between this sister and herself as she was devastated by Dorothy's death. They were still writing each other up until Dorothy took ill. A half finished letter from Dorothy had said she understood Elisabeth's feelings on their mother's treatment of their aunt and not to lose her convictions.

Upon her return to the Wyatt residence, her aunt presented her with a few proposals and together they sifted through them, deciding none of these men were the sort of men she would like to attract. Taking Elisabeth under private tutelage, Lady Wyatt counselled her on court intrigue and ways to climb the social ladder. Elisabeth visited court several times on her own up until Christmas of 1512 when she decided to stay and find a position at court. Still a ward of Lady Wyatt and now eighteen years of age, Elisabeth hopes to find a position at court and perhaps use her aunt's other tutelage to its true value.
