![]() John de Vere of Linley ![]() * It goes in one ear and right out the other, people talking shit but you know I never bother . ![]() HEY THERE. THE NAME IS Wills, AND I AM OLD. I'VE BEEN ROLEPLAYING FOR ABOUT 10 years AND MY OTHER CHARACTERS WOULD BE William Spencer, William Compton, Arthur Lambert. I FOUND FKAC AT RPGD. OH, BY THE WAY, I READ THE RULES. WANT PROOF? THE CODE WORD IS George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham WANT TO REACH ME? HERE'S MY IM: WilliamHSpencer I am John Richard de Vere, eldest son of John de Vere, Earl of Oxford. I hold the courtesy title of Viscount Linley until the day that I follow in the footsteps of my father as Earl of Oxford and Lord Great Chamberlain. I am a blood relation of many illustrious names, among them the Howards. My mother, who passed during my birth, was Ann Howard, daughter of the 2nd Duke of Norfolk. As the heir to my father, I was taught very early about the great accomplishments of my forebears and hope to one day live up to their example. At my age of sixteen, this seems to be a great and difficult feat indeed, but I am eager to prove my worth to my father and uncle. My childhood was quite normal and progressed no different than anyone else I've known. I was educated by the best tutors, procured for me by my father and uncle. Following my education in humanities, languages, and other such things an heir should be educated in, I was ready for the next part of my education. Any future Lord Great Chamberlain needs to know how to do all those duties properly, so I was sent off to serve my uncle, the Duke of Norfolk. That was...an adjustment of sorts. I think I have a bit too much of my mother in me for most tastes. It is not all bad, I suppose. I am certainly stronger than I was when I first came to my uncle. The man is strict but fair, and he has taught me much. I have far more bearing and confidence than the quiet boy that I had been. My demanding duties and schedule has definitely made me more resilient and diligent. As men of warlike nature, both my father and uncle were highly motivated to make sure that I can wield all the proper weapons with skill. This tutelage will hopefully prove valuable to my life as it seems we are soon to war. I am, of course, expected to go to war with my uncle to hopefully make he and my father proud and bring honour to my family and myself. Being in the service of the duke leaves me little time for much frivolity, but I find my ways to have fun and enjoy myself. I am quite proficient at flirting with my eyes across a room. This usually leads somewhere quite pleasing so long as I am not disappeared when my uncle needs me. He can be quite frightening when angered or disappointing, and he could easily squish me. I do not ever intend to intentionally thwart him, but it inevitably happens with his high expectations. Sometimes I find the man can make me crumble on the inside in a way I would not, were I away from him. Serving the duke as court, I do see my father quite often, and I feel his eyes on me when he is around. I really wish to please him, as it is only the two of us. He has the same standard and expectations, so at the very least, I can say my life is quite consistent. I do think I am properly manly and strong enough to be proud of |
