![]() D O R O T H Y B R A Y E ![]() * And I turned 'round and there you go / And, Michael, you would fall / And turn the white snow red as strawberries / In the summertime... . HEY THERE. THE NAME IS M, AND I AM 20. I'VE BEEN ROLEPLAYING FOR ABOUT A LONG TIME AND MY OTHER CHARACTERS WOULD BE MARGARET PERCY. I FOUND FKAC AT GOOGLE (?). OH, BY THE WAY, I READ THE RULES. WANT PROOF? THE CODE WORD IS ALTERNATE UNIVERSE WANT TO REACH ME? HERE'S MY IM: CUPCAKEXCRUSADER Dorothy Braye was born to Sir Edmund Braye, 1st Baron Braye, and Jane Halliwell nineteen years ago at Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire. The youngest of six children, she has five older sisters and one brother. Her eldest sister, Anne, Baroness Cobham, is 23 years her senior. The family is large and spread out age-wise, and there has been something to glean from each of her siblings, especially her sisters. From them, Dorothy has learned how to carry herself as a young lady and how to treat advances that come her way. She sees the value of flirtation as a tool to further herself, but her sense of morals is high enough where she will not sleep around. She intends to keep her maidenhood intact until her marriage, at which point she will give herself completely to her husband. She is one of the co-heirs to the Barony of Braye, but unless the rest of her older siblings die (highly unlikely) she knows that she will not inherit the title. This is fine with her, for she isn't the type of girl to imagine her siblings' death, but it has also given her incentive to try and find a title for herself. She isn't aiming terribly high, but she would like to continue living comfortably. Soon she will get her opportunity to try to make a match with a man with a title, for her father is bringing all of his unmarried children - John, Frances, Frideswide and Dorothy - to court so they might find good spouses and he might create alliances for himself. He has recently been knighted and summoned to the House of Lords by the king. To Dorothy, this is one of the best things to ever happen to her. She is looking forward to making her first appearance at a court that she's heard much about. Ever since she was little, Dorothy has clung to rumors and stories about the court ruled by King Henry VIII, and she is eager to finally put faces to the names she knows. She plans on following the fashions of the court very closely and creating a good name for herself. She wishes to be stylish, but not seem whorish or vain. Ideally she wishes to portray herself as a good wife and a good mother. After growing up in a large family, she desires many children of her own and wishes to raise them all in the Catholic faith. Rumors of heresy at court gives her cause to be slightly apprehensive, but she believes her own faith strong enough to resist any other opinions she might come across. When called into question, her morals can make her very stubborn. She does her best to do what is right. As the baby of the family and the youngest of the girls, Dorothy had to work if she wished to have her parent's attention. When she grew old enough to recognize ambition, she didn't try as hard to be seen, especially by her father. She is wary of his willingness to do anything to gain himself more friends at court and is intelligent enough to realize that someday this might result in complications for her. Those, she doesn't want. While she has a fascination for all of the drama and scandal at court, she does not wish to be involved in any herself. She hopes that her future husband will be a man who will spend much of his time at court so she can remain there as well. Her education was modest growing up. She learned much of what it means to be a woman from her older sisters and her mother, and she's well-versed in many of the household arts. Once upon a time she liked to ride horses but after she suffered a bad riding accident and was thrown from the saddle, she has never gotten back on - willingly, at least. Reading is difficult for her and tends to give her a headache, and her penmanship can be less than ideal. If someone were to work with her, those skills might improve, but reading and writing for the women was never stressed in her home. Despite her lack of knowledge of literature, Dorothy isn't an idiot. She does have common sense and uses it more often than not. Her sense of morals gets her through challenges she faces. |
