Margaret Percy

Dark circles rimmed Margaret's eyes as she headed toward the Great Hall, feeling out of sorts. If she didn't go to sleep soon, she was going to pass out in her food. But it didn't appear there was going to be an early evening tonight. Everyone looked ready to go, but Margaret just felt stretched, like she was fabric pulled out too far. Things at court had been going well so far. She had a friend or two among the ladies present and she had her brothers for when anything felt wrong, but now she was just tired. There had been noises coming from one of the rooms and Margaret hadn't liked listening. One of her roommates was very - active, yes, that could be a word - and she really wished whoever it was would take their entertainment elsewhere.

She stepped into the Great Hall and swayed on her feet. Feeling warm and dizzy, she moved to step aside from everyone else, fanning herself as subtly as she could with a hand. This was the last place she wanted to look or feel sick. Part of her told her to pull herself together. Passing out in front of the rest of the people present wouldn't do anything for her reputation. Her stomach flipped and she took in a breath, willing it to stabilize itself. If she had a little bit to eat and something to drink, she would be lovely. That and a little bit of sleep. With that, she moved toward the table and an empty chair. With the way she was feeling, she probably wouldn't notice who she sat next to. She couldn't notice anything except the pounding of her own head.

Sinking into her seat, she pressed her hands to her head for a moment before shaking it off. All she needed was a little bit of wine. Her eyes flicked around, trying to find a goblet. There it was. Her fingers curled around the stem of it and she tried to raise it to her waiting mouth. Then her hand gave a particularly violent tremor and the red liquid splashed down her front. Margaret's cheeks flushed an even deeper scarlet, and she felt the heat spread over her body. In vain, she tried to dab at the liquid with a cloth, but her hand was shaking even more. Margaret moved to stand and the world swam in front of her. Swallowing hard, she dropped back into her chair and pressed her hands to her head. Goodness, she couldn't think. She needed to think. Sudden pain swelled in her temples. No, she needed to go back to her room and lay down.

Henry Stafford

Henry was beside himself. He could not believe it. The King finally took heed to his warning and now? The Duke of Buckingham had been arrested for treason. Henry knew that there was a lot more to it than just his mere warning to the King, but still he felt guilty for betraying his own flesh and blood. But he had to do it, didn’t he? The worse of it though was courtiers leading to believe that he betrayed his father so that he could have him out of the way and he could easily take over his Dukedom early. That wasn’t it at all. It was all for his beloved wife, Renna. He had been more afraid of what his father would do to her if Edward Stafford succeeded in taking over the throne. Henry didn’t even want to think about the things his father could make him do if Henry had suddenly became a Prince of England, which would have been all thanks to his father’s ambitions.

Henry knew he disappointed his father, but there was a wrong and there was a right and Henry didn’t want to be a part of his father’s plotting no more. He made that clear when he fought with his father that day and married his low-ranking Scottish lady. And he never regretted it, except for now that he was without an inheritance, without a title to his name but that of being a Knight. He did have friends, and he was glad for it, but he would have to make his own way in this world, pick up the pieces and start anew. He had to provide for his new wife and he wasn’t going to do that with handouts. He was once to become a Duke, so he wasn’t going to sit around and let his wife bring in the main source of income. No he would have to go to the King, but he knew the King to be a busy man, so he would have to wait.

While he owned a house in London, he knew that he would have to reacquaint himself to the King’s court and return every once in a while. Besides this way he could see his wife more often as she continued her duties as a Lady-in-waiting to the Queen. He would have to eventually see the King, but when the King felt like seeing him was another question, so he would just wait it out. So he wandered out into the Great Hall and the first person he saw was one of his cousins, Margaret Percy. He had not seen her for quite some time, but then he hadn’t seen anyone for quite some time, with him being away from court for so long and only just returned now that his father was safely locked away in the Tower waiting for his trial.

Slowly he approached his cousin and upon closer inspection he was immediately concerned. She didn’t seem all that well at all. He bowed his head in greeting, holding out another cloth for her to use after spilling her wine. “My Lady…cousin are you alright?”
