- - - - Fears, He doesn't have any particular fears other than stalling in his pursuit of grandeur.
- - - - Overall Personality, William de Burgh is to put it bluntly, a complete boarish asshole most of the time. Sure, he can be charismatic in public, but once he is out of the sight of important eyes, he's crass, forceful, and abusive. He's been known to go into fits of rage, breaking things. He's rough with his wife, and he's hit her. If he wants her, he takes her with little care for her state.
He has the personality of a soldier, because that is what he is for the most part, although he has his ambitions. He prefers action to idleness. He prefers bloodshed to pleasantries. de Burgh is the hidden evils of all people, combined into one man. He has little conscience and feels little empathy. To the outside person, he seems like the general charismatic nobleman with appropriate behavior and niceness, but hidden inside is a monster. He unleashes this on his wife.
His one love that finds a tender place in his heart is his daughter, Elizabeth. William dotes on her. He is gentle with her and loving with her. He gives her anything and would spoil her rotten.
William cares little for others and does not entertain many close friends despite entertaining alliances that might be beneficial to him. Few people know the true William de Burgh, not even his close friend Sir William Kingston. He knows what to keep hidden, and he's good at it. He knows he has rugged charms and uses them as he sees fit, caring little who he steps on along the way.
de Burgh, despite his monstrosities, is very loyal to the King as he comes from a long line of supporters to the Tudor line. He has little care for his own welfare when he thunders off into battle. It is one of the few times in which de Burgh isn't cold and self-involved.
His ice, grey-blue eyes convey his stormy personality quite well. People would likely guess it is because he is 'war-hardened', but it is not simply because of that fact that de Burgh can be cold. He's known little 'love' all his life and only finds his heart warmed by children.
He can be quite pleasant, but there's always that darkness that can be felt within him. Nobody would guess that it's not just war that's made him dark but a childhood of abuse and a recurrence of abuse to his wife.

Margaret de Burgh - Wife Elizabeth de Burgh - Daughter (but he doesn't know she's not his >.>)
- - - - Overall History, William is the 3rd son (of 4) of Baron Berkeley and grew up with a father prone to fits of drunkeness and rage. He grew up seeing violence done to his mother and siblings and experiencing it himself. Far from making him a meek weakling, it made William strong and rough. He almost relished in being able to withstand his father's punishments and fits of temper. He has a small scar on his forehead from his father smacking him with a plate when he was a boy. Aside from being rough, William had a good relationship with his father and had appropriate measure of fear, respect, and admiration for the man.
William was educated according to his station in life, being from a small yet noble family of warriors, and spent most of his time learning arms, armament, strategy, and riding. Most of his knowledge and education pertains to his ability to soldier effectively.
Not being the eldest, William was left to make most of his own way in the world with the backing of his father's purse. He looked up to his father for his father's own war feats during the earlier battles for the throne in the War of the Roses. He took to feats of arms and war as a youth, himself, and earned himself distinctions on the battlefield as a young man in the Cornish uprisings (fighting against a potential usurper to the throne). He earned himself a knighthood and has most recently (some five years ago) been made a Baron for feats of war. It is his crowning achievement but has not assuaged his need for advancement and recognition. It was that excursion in which he met his close friend, William Kingston, who was knighted when he was made Baron.
Kingston is perhaps one of his closest friends and even yet has no idea how William is away from prying eyes. He knows William's cold battle-fury, but has no idea that he exhibits it outside of war and fighting.
In time away from fighting and soldiering, Baron de Burgh can be found many times at court (probably lobbying for war). His favourite activities aside from fighting are jousting and drinking. He is formidable with a lance and once killed a man in a tournament, proving he has deadly good aim and no will to curb it for entertainment. Feats of strength are feats of strength and anyone not wishing to be hurt or die should stay away from such activities. About the only man he'd not aim for the jugular in a tournament is the King himself. de Burgh, despite everything is all for the service of Henry VIII.
William had been too busy fighting to settle with a wife early in life, but after he starting winning distinction, he knew he'd need to marry. William had known his wife's father for some time and married the girl frankly because he wanted her for himself, as a possession. She was beautiful, and he needed an heir. She brought no dowry, but she seemed as if she'd be ripe for having children. They have one daughter together, Elizabeth, and she is not his, but he doesn't know this. He loves her dearly and as she has been it, it is taking a toll on him. He is craving a son and because of this desperation for an heir, he forces himself on his wife.
He is keen on war, and will be very happy to get back to it in France. He speaks out against the French loudly, insighting xenophobia whenever he can and adding to French rumours with zeal.
