Well, I never thought I'd try this, but I'll try. I had so many plots though... It's gonna be tough and rough. Written solely from memory. Previously on Duke of Darkness: Thomas meets his Boleyn nieces and nephew in court, allows the notion of Mary Boleyn (then Natalie Portman) to be the queen to the still bachelor king, but nothing comes of it when Henry choses Margaret Shelton. At the same time he invited George Boleyn to dine with him and finds out George is a selfish, arrogant, useless nothing. Norfolk becomes the organizer of the festivities surrounding the King's and Queen's wedding, spanning over two days and including feasts, parades, a hunt, joust and archery contest. He meets Cecily Seymour for the first time since he was sixteen and she five, they sex it up and she supposedly gets pregnant with his child, but then Milly drops out and the plot is scratched. Norfolk appoints Betsy BArton to his service to find out if she can really see future. When he determines she can, he passes her on to the King, but first intimidates her into being his agent. Elena Lawley, Duchess of Northampton in spe, enters into negotiations with Norfolk. He's about to lend her money and specialists to help her estates, and she agrees to marry into the Howard family. Norfolk wants her to marry Charles Howard, his youngest nephew. Currently on hiatus pending reconsideration. Jane Popincourt becomes his mistress, because she's French and he never had a French before, because he hates them. Surprisingly he grows fond of her, and she of him, but then she leaves to France. She comes back later and they return to their sinful ways. Eventually Jane becomes pregnant with his son. Catherine Howard becomes Norfolk's candidate to be King's mistress when Margaret Shelton becomes pregnant. Anne Boleyn becomes BC's tutor on how to grab and keep King's attention. Things drag on but eventually she becomes the King's mistress little before he choses Francesca d'Medici as his new Queen. Norfolk's not happy, because he hoped Catherine could become queen. But now he's happy that she's marrying Duke of Suffolk. In the absence of Wolsey, Norfolk leads a Privy Council meeting where he announces just reasons for war with France, including the death of his brother, Lord High Admiral, Edward Howard. Catherine Willoughby stumbles on the Duke and he finds out her mother just died and she is now the Baroness. He helps her out with funeral and estates, and finds her a husband - Earl of Warwick. They now consider Norfolk a friend and are indebted to him. Anne Howard dies, so Thomas is single again. Will Parr, his primary errand boy, helps out with drawing a list of potential brides. Norfolk approaches Buckingham and received his blessing to marry Elizabeth Stafford but it falls through when Elizabeth goes to France. Isabella Clyde, infatuated with the Duke, sneaks into his bedchamber. He rapes her to give her a lesson and she comes away with his child, whom Betsy Barton names a long awaited son, heir of Norfolk, roughly at the same time as Jane Popincourt has his bastard boy. Norfolk marries Issy to cover up the pregnancy and to get hold of a boy for his succession. Norfolk suggests to William Parr that Ursula Pole would be a good wife and starts negotiations. In the meantime, Anne Bourchier, Will's current wife who was supposed to be annulled but isn't yet, comes to court to haunt him. Norfolk has to get rid of her through poisoning. Because William Parr is such an obedient toy, Norfolk now decides to marry Charles Howard (again) to one of the Parr sisters, so the ties are even closer. His sight falls first on Anne Parr, and then on Katherine Parr. When Francesca de Medici becomes queen, she becomes Norfolk's target, because she's Italian, not noble and taking the spot he wants for a Howard girl. To find out something incriminating about her, Norfolk recruits Bridget Wingfield and Jane Boleyn to be his spies in the Queen's chambers. Anne Boleyn and Henry Percy eventually come together and Norfolk represents before the King, trying to convince him to grant them marriage. So that's the most important developments so far. I've probably missed something too. |
