    - - - - Overall Personality, Elizabeth is a very smart woman despite the lack of education afforded to her due to her gender. She speaks and writes both French and English. She was taught embroidery and sewing as well as how to efficiently run an estate. She is stubbornly self-confident. For a woman in the Middle Ages, she is very independent. She sees herself as a dutiful wife and mother, a faithful Catholic, and a loyal servant to the King. She feels that others may perceive her as proud and bold. Which is not entirely false. Elizabeth is very proud of her blood line and her family; and she is bold to speak against heresy.

This is sometimes the product of her rash tongue that wields it’s ugly head when Lutherans and French Fashion are the topics at hand. Why you ask? She sees Lutherans as heretics to the Church. She hates French Fashion because of the restraints it places on the human body. To her it is beyond what is needed for covering the body. She is also usually a patient woman, unless dealing with these topics as well as ignorance and stupidity. She is not very tolerant of those who behave stupidly.

Elizabeth, the independent being that she is, enjoy the country life and is utterly at ease due to the freedom she enjoys there. There is no need for corsets and binding at her stately manor. She can ride and enjoy the company of her closest friends without filters as oppose to court life where she feels everything gets turned inside out.

Elizabeth often fights with herself to be submissive, especially to those who are not her husband or her King. She feels that women are just as capable of running things as men are, the proof being it is the wife’s duty to care for the estate when her husband is at battle.

Elizabeth is a rational person for the most part, though she does depend on her faith a good bit. If something cannot be rationalized then she feels it was the will of God that caused it. She has a witty sense of humor. She can be a bit sarcastic at times. She is overall a well mannered and proper lady.

Through her father she is cousin to Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham.

    - - - - Overall History,
Elizabeth de Vere was born in 1480 to Sir William de Vere and Margaret Stafford. She grew up near her cousin’s Buckingham estate where she spent time horseback riding, hunting and enjoying the fine art of falconry with her cousin, Edward. At the age of six, Elizabeth began studying with a tutor learing to read and write in both English and French, as her mother had ties to some French Nobles and considered it a necessity should Elizabeth find a French suitor. Her tutor also made sure that young Elizabeth was well versed in scripture.

She, with her parents and siblings, attended court for the winger of 1490. Her father had now introduced her to society and was looking for potential husbands for the ten year old Elizabeth. Elizabeth didn’t particularly like being at court if only for the clothes she was required to wear. She despised the confining clothing that she felt prevent her from breathing. After three years at Court, Elizabeth’s father, William, finally came to an agreement with Sir John Wingfield on a marriage between John’s son, Anthony, and Elizabeth.

On June 21, 1495 15 year old Elizabeth married 20 year old Anthony in a ceremony attended by the King, Henry VII. The two were given land in Suffolk and within a year of their marriage they welcomed their first child, a son, whom they named Robert. Robert was the first of what would be their thirteen children. Elizabeth, a very headstrong young woman, insisted on being the caregiver of her child with very little help from outside help aside from the wet nurse. The only time help was needed was when Elizabeth was pregnant or for a few months after the birth of her children.

It has been fifteen years since the birth of her first son, Robert. Elizabeth, now thirty-one, has spent the past fifteen years caring for her household. She has given birth to five sons, the youngest only a year old. With the exception of winter feasts, Elizabeth has been absent from Court. She has only now decided to return in order to find suitable matches for her sons.

Hello, and welcome to FKAC!

There are some issues with your app, but once they're fixed, you can go on through. :)

Firstly, we don't use sigs here. Just to let you know.

If you could elaborate on her personality and history, that would be great. Right now it just seems like stuff strung together, you know? She was a real person, but you can do whatever you'd want with her background and personality. Have some fun with it. :)

Women didn't really learn languages other than their own, unless their families were truly remarkable. So, for her education, she would just learn how to read and write in English (some couldn't even do that), sew, Scripture, etcetera. Womanly things. Enough knowledge to entertain in conversation but not enough to be an expert at anything, because women weren't supposed to be; they were just supposed to be an adornment to their husband.

You say her dream is to be a mother; but she already has a few children, right?

Thanks!

Lanie

Her personality needs to be changed still. It reads like a list...I want to truly know Elizabeth. Also, you need to read the Tudor Handbook about life for women...women did not go on hunts and did not train in combat. They also did not take up archery, did not care for their own children on their own, and their education was limited.

Here is the Tudor Handbook: http://z3.invisionfree.com/For_King_And_Co...?showtopic=1896

Take a look, redo her personality, and we'll look at it again.
