    - - - - Fears,
    Being alone and or hated.
Being utterly disgraced and falling out of favour with the king.
    - - - - Overall Personality,
For the kind of loose, highly immoral man Francis is he is a surprisingly likeable person. There is no doubt that he is a womaniser and pleasure seeker of note, he can be a heartbreaker but generally he prefers it if women are under no illusions that he is not prepared for anything serious at his young age.

He is a confident person, overly confident and outgoing at times but he is a generally friendly upbeat person and not as cocky he might appear to someone who has just met him or only heard the rumours. He loves causing scandals but is no fool and is mostly careful to keep his actions just this side of discrete, when they involve ladies.

He is a nice person, quite charming and highly educated. To some he may come across as a lazy layabout especially because of his love for revelry and avoidance of commitments that would force him to travel outside court.

Some may find his constantly prevalent charm and confidence grating and he is aware that there are those in court who dislike him he tends to take other people disliking him rather well, water off a duck’s back and all.

Though he is aware he has enemies, he is surprisingly sticky and hard to shake off if he decides he is friends with or likes a person. He especially favours sharp witty conversation in his friends.

He is on the other had quite swift to judge people and finds it quite difficult to hide it when he dislikes someone.

He is a fairly loyal person but is not known for his tendency to keep his mouth shut about anything unless it relates to the king. He is loyal to people whom he is friends with but he is a man of fairly fluid opinions so whom those friends might be could chance quite abruptly given half a reason.

He is a very forward person. Quite likely to speak what is on his mind has the ability to be quite crass and un-gentlemanly towards those he dislikes or wishes to annoy, though is fully capable of pulling off the complete opposite(which is in fact his main modus operandi.)

His intelligence is not something that should be underestimated, but often is. He is sharp cultured and capable.

  • - - - - Family Members, son of Sir Thomas Bryan and Margaret Bourchier, 2 younger sisters
    - - - - Overall History,
Sir Thomas Bryan, the son of a judge, made his career at court where he was a knight of the body to Henry VII and Henry VIII and vice-chamberlain to the late Queen: he married into a cultured baronial family prominent at court and his wife, Margaret. Francis was born in about 1490, Cheddington, Buckinghamshire, England. He was brought to court at a young age and became a companion of the king who was of a similar age. As a boy he was placed in the household of Sir Thomas Parr, whom in later life he was to call his special patron. As the son of one courtier and the protégé of another, Bryan soon found his own place at court, he was educated at oxford (sir Thomas Parr may have acted as a sponsor of sorts for this) and found to be quite gifted with languages.

Although Francis does not wield the power wield the power in court that some of the older more wealthy nobles do, his influence on people most notably his majesty, mostly make up for that. He has a rather vast network of connections within the court. Though seldom has need to make use of it because he has little interest in politics, which of probably one of the reasons that people are a little more willing to trust him. He has little interest in political affairs of any sort at this stage though he has a keen ear for gossip that he would never admit to.

He is very good at influencing his friends to accompany him on horribly immoral endeavors, and gets them into trouble more than he helps them.

He is the worst voice in the King's ear, and would like nothing more than for court to eternally be a place to eat, drink, dance, and lust after everyone with two feet.

As a friend of the king he constantly shifts his views on things to fit what his majesty feels is best, as he has always avoided politics himself but for the sake of having an opinion sides with the king. He has always been a player and charmer of the ladies at court and it is one of the strongest whispered general rumours in the court. However if one tried to pin down who exactly he has been with few would admit it.

Francis was never a very religious man (how could he be with his lifestyle?) though his parents were quite devout but he is religious enough not to be frowned upon, though he had been heard to make fairly irreverent statements on occasion.

With little chance of tying his flighty son down with a good solid marriage, his father has been haranguing him to join the military or navy, but so far he has put it off. He just loves court life too much and so is staying there ostensibly as a translator. Despite his seeming faults he is really not a trouble maker although is a womaniser and pleasure seeker those are really his only main faults he gets along well with people at the court. He has grown up in court but is by no means a sheltered little daisy. He can be tough bout mentally and physically once his hackles are up.

To escape his father most recently however he has spent the last year in the papal court in Venice along side the English ambassador there, however after a couple of rather scandalous liaisons with women of high standing, he was asked (in a formal capacity that was more of a veiled order) by the powers that be to return to England because he was disturbing the peace. and so he has recently returned to England.

  • - - - - Roleplay Sample,
Francis stepped into the hall chin high and ice blue eyes darting around the hall. His appearance was the epitome of a perfect gentleman. Although he was prone to more flashy modes of dress, for once he had donned a simpler set of dark blue riding clothes. Black Leather riding boots clasped his calves and a feathered hat that complemented the outfit perched atop his immaculate dark hair.

The hat of course- he thought as he strode down the hallway, footsteps ringing into the emptiness – would be securely tucked away into a saddle bag the moment he and his horse were out of sight of the palace. He was a man easily bored, and having had no stimulation in the form of court parties for a couple of weeks now he was just itching to do something to release his pent up energy. Taking his horse for a run and galloping in one direction for a few miles seemed an appealing option. Most especially since he had not been introduced to any very interesting ladies recently. He knew there were quite a few new faces in court at the moment however it seemed that to ensure their welfare (and perhaps his own) his friends were feigning ignorance.

He sighed as he headed out of the palace and in the direction of the stables. They were no fun really, his friends. From time to time they tended to treat him like he was some badly trained dog, likely to jump up and put his muddy paws on a lady’s skirt at first opportunity. Which was not ... entirely true. Ah well -he thought, pulling his riding gloves from where they had been tucked into his belt and started putting them on as he walked – he would just have to do a little persuading when he got back, perhaps find one of them who would introduce him to the ladies over from the Italian court. He would rather like to utilize his linguistic talent a little.

As he approached the stables he was noticed by a stable boy who disappeared and then rematerialized as Sir Bryan drew closer, leading his piebald gelding out by the reins. Francis had sent out notice ahead with one of the servants to see that his horse was prepared so he nodded shortly to the stable boy who must have been about five years younger than Sir Bryan. The boy handed over the reins, made a slight bow and then scampered off.

Francis checked over the gear more especially the saddle. He lengthened the stirrups a bit, what sort of midget did they he was? And yanked the girth tighter when his horse wasn’t expecting it. The cussed animal always blew out its stomach while the stable boys were saddling him.

Smiling his slightly crooked charming smile in satisfaction for no one to see, Francis mounted in one swift movement. He sighed blissfully and put up a hand to hold his hat as the gelding frisked on the spot for a second. He was finally getting to do something. He leaned forward to pat the horse’s neck and glanced up at the castle. He could make out his father’s figure heading across the lawns towards him. Damn it one of the servants must have ratted him out. He wheeled the horse around and tapped his heels into its sides, feeling its powerful muscles bunch and uncoil as it leapt forward straight into a canter, away from the castle and his father. If the old man was really intent on bending his ear today, he was going to have to catch up.

Hi Alex!

Just one thing to change and you're good: this is AU Tudor era, so we're in 1511 and Henry is married to someone else, not Catherine of Aragon. So just change that and I'll pass you on through!
