![]() ISABELLA CLYDE ![]() * This is the song that never ends, Yes, it goes on and on, my friends. Some people started singing it, not knowing what it was, and they'll continue singing it forever just because... . HEY THERE. THE NAME IS MILLY, AND I AM 24. HERE'S MY IM: SMILYKYLIE8@HOTMAIL.COM, MILLY1858@YAHOO.COM Unfortunately, for Issy’s family, she was born not that bright, and to make matters worse she is the only living child. Isabella once had three older brothers, but they all died before adulthood. Her mother did try for more additions to the family, but being pregnant with twins, killed her and the babes. Issy was seven at the time and the loss of her mother and siblings kept her in a childlike state for what seems the rest of her life (unless someone can wake her out of it). Even before all of the deaths, Issy was a spoilt child; not only the only daughter, but the youngest as well. She was treated much like a doll by her mother, someone to dress up and show off. It was all a mother could do with all that wealth in the family and she always considered Issy’s red hair and green eyes as gorgeous. No one really knew where she got the looks from, but seeing as the Clyde family was a long ago descendant of Scots, there would have been plenty of green-eyed, red-heads in the family. Both her parents and all three brothers had a different shade of brown and blue eyes. Issy didn’t know her first two older brothers for they died before she was born, but the third she knew until a hunting accident took his life when she was five. So naturally, Issy was pampered all the more by both parents. She was always daddy’s little girl and her mother’s doll. Used to her all of this pampering, she became quite devastated when her mother died. She had been so excited about having a new brother or sister, but that final blow was like a slap in the face. She didn’t know what to think or feel, so she went into that childlike stage. No one thought anything of it at first, with her only seven, but as the years went by, her body would grow, but her mind did not, no matter what her father tried. In fact her father didn’t try too hard as he was going through his own grieving, having lost his beloved wife and all of his children save one, he soon came to ignore Issy almost altogether. After that, Issy was raised by the servants and became an impossible child. With no parents to tell her off and with all the money in the world a girl could have, she soon found a passion of spending. At least one thing her father controlled was what she spent, he never actually told her how much was available to her, but even so his wealth would last her four lifetimes, no matter how big her spending habits were. That was one problem her father had, no male heir to take over his title of Marquess. Of course he could try to marry again, but now his heart wasn’t in it. No heart for the man made him weak and prone to illness. All hope now laid in his daughter, but more importantly the man whom she would marry, for all of her father’s possessions would be handed over to that man, including his title. And no one would want any less. Isabella Clyde may be pleasurable to look at, but with a child’s mind she would be quite a handful. Of course, there had to be some way for Issy to be taught the ways of adulthood especially with everything left by her father would be given to her on her wedding day. It soon came to the servants and those in charge of Issy’s education that the only way to do this was to read her a story. Eventually, stories of fairytales included tales of marriage and children and other requirements of a noblewoman of this age. Soon Issy had it in her head that she must marry a powerful man and bore him sons. So by the time she was to attend court, this was all that was on her mind. Unfortunately, for two powerful people, Issy was going to give them hell. The first was Princess Margaret Tudor. Someone, whoever suggested it thought it would be quite amusing to give Issy to the short tempered Princess as a lady-in-waiting. Not only would Issy drive Margaret mad (especially being of Scottish descent), but the older woman might actually keep Isabella in line. And the second person Issy was going to be a living hell to? The Duke of Norfolk, Thomas Howard. At the age of 17, Isabella’s first time at court, one of the first men she met was The Duke of Norfolk. Remembering her stories, it was the Duke’s appearance that made her believe that he was meant to be her husband, anything else didn’t matter, not even his mean personality. Now a year on, Lady Isabella Clyde not only believes Thomas Howard should be her husband, but with her mind full of dreams and stories, she has mixed fiction with reality, but now she actually believes that he already is her husband. She believes it so much that she calls herself the Duchess of Norfolk and calls him her husband to his face! Of course most of court sees this quite amusing, letting Issy play her little game, but only time will tell of how this game shall end. Issy’s determination to be the Duchess of Norfolk shows no end, but how long Norfolk will put up with her is another question. |
