    - - - - General Look, Charles is handsome. Charles knows he’s handsome. He isn’t exactly traditionally regal-handsome. He has softer features, for example a less-defined nose and jaw line than some of the other men of the court. But it’s his softer features that keep him looking young. As with any man, the way he carries himself is obviously a large factor of women’s attraction to him. And his carriage is also different. While still regal, Charles has accomplished the ability to keep his attitude and demeanor relaxed and friendly, which is something he takes pride in.

His eyes are a warm hazel, quite a contrast to those of his best friend. And his gaze is one that inspires secrets and stories from his friends. He is usually clean shaven, though can be seen with a slight bit of stubble when he has some early morning errands to attend to. Being an orphan, one would hardly expect his fashion to be at the height it is. But the Tudors have all made sure that Charles Brandon is just a step behind their own style. Though, in his opinion, fashion hardly matters.

    - - - - Fears, To lose his place in court and be completely alone.
    - - - - Overall Personality, Charm and wit and a strong-will are traits any man of the court will possess. Every man will be proud. Every man will be bullheaded (whether he admits it or not) but not every man will appreciate the small things. Charles has experienced quite a great deal of loss in his life. He never knew his Mother and his Father was killed when he was just 10. But the silver lining is easy for him to spot. He is an incredibly optimistic man, considering everything he’s been through. And he tries to make his optimism contagious. He is phenomenal at uplifting people when they’re upset and consoling people when they’re downtrodden.

With women, though, Charles is pure genius. He’s mastered the charming smile and strategic placement of his hands. He knows how to lower his tone just enough to make a woman really listen. And he knows how to make her feel like the only woman in the room. It’s easy for him to change swiftly and without much notice, going from friend to rogue to love interest with ease. He does have a bit of a playboy reputation and doesn’t mind at all. It keeps the allure up, really. When it comes time for him to marry he will be faithful to his wife but he is still a young man. And with all the lovely women running around he can’t help his wily ways.

To his friends Charles is overwhelming loyal, especially Henry Tudor. The Tudor family has done more than enough to earn his respect and he knows that should they ever call a favor upon him obliging wouldn’t be a second thought. But that doesn’t stop him from calling his closest friend out when it comes to his shortcomings. Charles is the one person that keeps Henry’s ego in check, reminding his friend at least once a week that he is not, in fact, invinsible.

  • - - - - Family Members, None. His Mother died in child birth and his Father was killed in battle.
    - - - - Overall History, Born into a family of wealth and prestige, Charles Brandon was incredibly unlucky from the start. He was the cause of his mother’s death, her frail little body unable to endure the pains and struggles of labor. She passed just hours after he was born, the only thing she ever gave him being his name. As a young child he was raised by chambermaids and nurses. His father had little part in his early childhood, as much as any father, but Lord Brandon always noticed his son’s cleverness and ease of learning. When Charles was eight years old his father was murdered. It wasn’t a secret what happened. He was killed by the King’s rival in battle. But his death was not in vain. It was his father’s proven loyalty that secured Charles care and comfort for the rest of his life.

In respect to his father the King took Charles in as his own. He was close enough in age to Henry VIII that the two of them became quick friends. And from then on his luck had been changed. He learned alongside Henry and thus had the best tutors. He ate with the finest food and danced the finest dances. As a teenager he first came to know the feel of a woman’s body. And he hasn’t ever felt a body he didn’t love. In just a years time he gained the reputation he holds with quiet pride: the reputation that Charles Brandon is quite a rogue with the ladies. When he was seventeen Charles was in a terrible horseback riding accident. In a race with the sweet Mary Tudor he was thrown from his horse and sustained several injuries, including full body paralysis. Movement came back to him slowly and he had to learn how to walk again. And it was through this first experience that he realized that the feelings he harbored for Mary were a little more than ruthless lust.

He never entertained those thoughts and feelings. Because despite his fantastical upbringing with the Tudors Charles knows his place. The lady’s of Princess Mary’s court are enough to keep him satiated but he knows that only one woman will be able to truly satisfy him. There are little repercussions from his accident, several years later. His joints grow sore on days when the weather is anything but sunny. And he is a little bit stiffer during the winter months but Charles has made a full recovery. He is sad, of course, at the death of the man that saved his life by taking him in when there was no obligation but the excitement of what is to come with the new king has infected him. As best friend to the new king his position in the new court has risen to new heights. The unlucky orphan indeed.
