I HATE that game so MUCH!!!!!!!!!

crap pisses me off!!!

It just messes with my head at a level that's not even funny. The way the thing presents you with the oportunity to get items and summons by completing certain challenges in exchange for DP it breaks me! Even with my character at level 100 (yes i "mastered" Emo Faggot Cloud cuz shockingly he sucks less than everybody else aparently) still i get beaten to a pulp and embarassed by lower level NPCs that dodge EVER FUCKING TIME and have more attacks than i do!

Every character looks super badass when played by the A.I but when you try to actually use them yourself it's like you can't do half the stuff because you either get blocked, dodged or simply assaulted during the move.

This game suffers from a VERY polirised difficulty, meaning it's either very easy or agonysingly hard without any middle ground.

And now... that i'm done whinning like a little bitch about what's probably my own shortcomings, to a more indept look at the beast.

The game has HUGE replay value, i think it's the best thing about the game, you have an extensive story mode although an individual storyline for the villains would be welcome. Lot's of things to collect, be it character profiles, the summons list, rare equipment, icons and Cosmos and Chao's reports that much like the Ansem reports from KH explain a bit of the background of the two Gods but only become available after you finish the whole story.

A look at the modes.

Story Mode

Play the story through the point of view of each Hero fighting for Cosmos as you face the forces of Chaos. The gameplay is presented to you with a board where you are suposed to move your character's piece next to the enemies until you clear a path to the final piece by engaging them into battle. Each story is divided by 5 levels each being rated after the last enemy piece is engaged, finishing a level with a large amount of battles, lots of HP remaining, spare DP and the less possible losses or retries grants you more points and better bonus items.
Each character's story mode has a different level of difficulty, unlike me who just went from Final Fantasy 1 to 10 you should pick the easy stories first.
The story itself doesn't add much to the characters it just gives us what we already know about them (Tidus is a cheerful little prick and Cloud and Squall brood a lot) making this far less imaginative than an ordinary fan fiction, but i digress.

Arcade Mode - not much to say here, use a character of your choice with pre-set stats against a gauntlet of enemies to win a prize at the end.

Quick Battle - Chose a character and level it up by facing a NPC of your choice, you can pick the oponents level and make him up to 100+ levels higher than you for ultimate grinding or make him level 1 and make him your bitch. You can also pick the A.I's aggressiveness or lameness and the level of it's equipment for extra pawnage. It's advised to give this mode a look before venturing forth to story mode.

Duel Colesseum - It's a hidden game mode which allows you to gain EXP AP PP and items much like quickplay. It starts by giving you the choice between two courses, being more available after purchased at the PP catalog, the courses are divided by level of oponents in them being the first composed of enemies with levels ranging from 1 to 30 although you're more likely to find oponents the same level as you or higher, the second one rangesfrom 31 to 60. This mode is a quick way to level up and get the rare items you need to trade for new weapons and armour.

The game works by allowing you to pick from the first three cards from a row at the bottom of the screen, there are enemy cards, item cards and job cards.

Enemy Cards - to fight an enemy for medals, win you gain medals, lose you lose medals.

Item Cards - you to trade the medals you earned so far for the item in the card.

Job Cards - special cards that affect the flow of the other cards, with various effects that can go from getting weaker enemies to gaining twice the medals in each fight.

When done playing your medals wont be saved though insead they'll be traded for PP and the records of your battles will be recorded such as the number of oponents faced and the number of straight victories.

Costumization -Here you can change your character's individual abilities which you will be allowed to use more as you gain AP atribute points by fighting. Equip stuff to make you more powerful and resistant as well as set up your summons to change the tides of battle. Shop for items like weapons armour and shinny things. And also change your Play Plan a system that lets you gain more EXP or items depending on the setting you chose. The acomplishments are like a "To do" list of stuff that you'll complete as you play the game, it awards you with an item everytime you acomplish something.

Communication Mode- Allows multi-player gameplay, face your friends with your costumized characters and woop their butts Final Fantasy style. You can also gain EXP and other goodies this way and exchange player cards with information about yourself. The game also features a sleep mode for shy people that allows you to pick up other player cards without talking to the person, which i think it's very useless at least where i am, where the odds of finding another person with a PSP let alone a Dissidia game are staggering. Not to mention its highly battery cosumable. It lets you record your friends data and chalenge their ghost offline.

PP Catalog - PP stands for purchase points, you gain these at the end of each fight on story mode, quick battle or colesseum. They let you to buy extra content for the game, being extra characters as the villains for arcade mode, extra costumes, harder difficulty settings and more stuff to make the game lenghtier.

Museum - Allows you to view you collectibles, like character and summon profiles that contain short pieces of info on the previous games, player icons to feature on your player card, FMV player and a great video editor that allows you to play back and edit replays you save from previous fights along with many other things.

Player Settings - Here you can change your username, play plan and bonus day. Bonus day is a feature that allows you to gain extra Gil, EXP, PP, AP or whatever, depending on which day of the week it is.

Options - Various game settings like data management, such as data install. Data install allows you to install part of the game directly to the psp to cut on the loading time.

Thanks for all that Info man, appreciate it. I'm gonna play the Quick Battle modes first then to level up, but if its as you say it is on the difficulty, that is a pisstaker! But at least its more of a challenge and gives ya more of a satisfaction when you beat them. Love it that its got a replay value and so many extra that will keep you occupied for ages.

Yeah there's a brief tuturial on story mode, it works as a prologue chapter, but when you're hyped as hell you really just blaze over it without taking much from it.

Oh i forgot to mention that the game also has loads of help screens, you can access them by pressing start on any menu, these provide you somewhat helpful hints and tips from several characters from the Final Fantasy universe, Like FF VIII's Selphie battle tips and FF XII's Penelo Character hints.

However this does little to help you in actual gameplay.

Sorry for the double posting but just to add that i had the oportunity to try the online mode today.

It was fun, way better than playing the A.I, you can still level up your characters and gain items as you play. The game doesn't lag and holds up quite nicely.

Since no one seems to post anything useful, i'll just take complete comtrol of this thread.

Today i got one of my minions to purchase the llimited edition of Dissidia, i kept the box and i'll keep it for a while.

Okay, here's the content.

Game

Light/Darkness Cover

Mini CD with soundtrack

Instructions

Booklet with art

Two postals one with heros, one with villains.

I think the price was great just for the game, cheaper than i thought.

Still i like it better for free.

Ok, so I've been playing the quick battles all this time and got most of em relatively high, about 12-15. I can easily kick ass against level 8 cpu. Tried the story mode and this stupid chess thing malarky has got confused =/ do i just move to the red symbol thing and thats it?? I don't get it man.

Yes the point is to get to the boss piece on the board. On your way there you might have to fight other pieces that block you, sometimes there are blocked spaces on the board that only clear up after a certain enemy is defeated.. The objective is to get to the final piece with max HP and spare DP to unlock the bonus prizes.

The first one was pretty straightfoward then wasn;t it. Just go upto the red peice and thats it. I was going up and down and left and right thinking I'd be encountering some enemies or something. They should've made that clear I reckon. But ok lets see what happens next..

lol nelo how did u get stuck on the board? the only thing i dont like is when u dont have enough DP and the conditions for getting more is kinda hard. like getting a break in 10 seconds is easy but getting a critical in 10 seconds is hard, i dont think iv ever done a critical hit.

I didn't get stuck. Its just it seemed a bit too straightforward if you know what I mean. No battles no nothing, just straight to the last peice and cleared ;o I was like wtf. surely theres something that must be done. But obviously now its all good, can easily get the DP's and kick ass. But yeah I do know what you mean, the critical one is tough, to do that try and fly behind em and strike, that gives you critical.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

I'm at the chapter that appears after you beat Chaos and the ending video and now all enemies are 100+ levels 100+!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't get more that 100 why can they????????? It's not funny, it's not fair, it's not entertaining!!! I managed to clear the first board and it only took me about... 743 tries, give or take. Did i feel fufilled by doing that? Did i feel acomplished? fart NO!!!! I probably lost years of my life getting pissed and stressed out at the damn thing!

Jeebus, this game is fun as hell.

It'd be better if my PSP didn't break Saturday. ._.

But it's hilarious when you're playing against your friend, and you beat so many times that he almost breaks down crying. ;D

My friend Owen also leveled up Kefka to, like, 62. And I only had a level 20 Cloud at the time as my best character. It was quite saddening. ._.

The game is loads of fun to play against a friend, specialy if your level is even. But if you just use multi player to level up it gets kind of boring cuz the character with the highest level win... except if you're me pawning a level 60 Cloud with a level 3 Ultimecia.

Also, love Sephiroths black materia attack. Just find a good place distant from the oponent, charge a bit and smash a meteor on his ass that trick is so cheap and nearly impossible to dodge.
