Greiver faced The Sun-Eyed Set, and replied with a trailing list, to give the students an idea of what was available. They'd eventually hit them all, but that was for him to know and them to not know yet. "It breaks down two ways, how I see it: book work and foot work. Bookwork is like what we're doing now: lectures, discussions... stuff that that. Most of your histories, save for perhaps tactics and field history, are in-class lessons. Foot work is quite the opposite. Mostly combat training, but there are 'other' things we can do as well. However, you can't have one without the other." "Oh right. Simple." He shifted trains of thought, and reiterated the point. "Either way, you will be instructed in whatever manner I see fit. I'm offering you a chose between a more scholarly approach, or a more practical, real-world approach to the lesson materials." Greiver was prepared to take it either way. Some students really weren't interested in combat, per se, but others weren't so interested in the alternatives. Althought, Instructor Aldaras was technically slated in as the weapons instructor, it was he who taught him; and hell, Greiver was Head Instructor. Maybe if the students decided they wanted a combat lesson today, he'd go and knock on Aldaras' door. Maybe. |

Koios gave it the teacher's options very careful consideration. As much as he could remember what he had heard, he would eventually have to write something down. But having no prior education, he wasn't entirely sure what the other "more practical, real-world approach" as the teacher put it, was going to be like. Koios made himself more comfortable, looked at the teacher and made a casual hand wave to make himself more noticed. He suggested to the teacher in a voice so the entire classroom to hear, "Can't we do both? I mean, I don't really have the means to take notes if you're lecturing, and it would get boring as well. Uhh, no offence. But if we did the more practical approach to the lessons, we wouldn't know the logistics behind the lesson, either. So, I just think it would be good if we used both approaches." He looked at the expressions of the teacher and classmates and awaited their responses. |

Drizzt waited curiously for the answer to what he was going to learn. He hoped that he wasn't being to impatient. But then Feather Mist said ' The school is well known throughout for the high standard of battle trained students that graduate, some go off to wars, some stay and teach, either way, no one I've heard of has failed here. ' Then Greiver seemed to telling himself something then he answered ' Well' Then continued ' there certainly is an emphasis on the militant aspect to acadamy, but that's not all. I think it's best that we cover a bit of history behind the acadamy first. ' Drizzt watched as Greiver walked to the back of the class, and grabbing a torch off the wall, he picked up the first pane of glass; and put it atop the over-head projector. Drizzt was looking and wondering what the hell was that. Then greiver putt the torch in the mirrored container, the over head projected an image of the province of Everland up to the front of the class, on the black board. Drizzt was amazed that such an thing could be invented. If Greievr was the one who invented this he must be really wise. The black board was bathed in reflected torch light, and black lines that formed the boarders appeared in that instant. Several other lines appeared outside the outlines of Everland to show where the boardering provinces began. Several other little images, including symbols to represent certain towns, and the acadamy, were also shown in black. Then he continued and said ' This is Everland. ' After a moment, Drizzt watched as greiver wlaked to the front of the class, passing Loki, and he tapped the desk near to his head, Probably because he wasn't paying much attention, then he continued ' The centeral-most province in the realms. Geographically speaking, it's in the middle. Not much more I can say about that. ' Drizzt listen intently on every word he said. then Drizzt watched as he stepped down to the center row, right side, and looked down the row and continued ' Politically speaking, Everland has quite a history to it. ' Then Drizzt thought to himself, Yeah well if Everland didn't have any history this place wouldn't be known and it would be a boring place. Drizzt listened and watched as Greiver walked around the clas room and he continued ' Necransia used to be the powerhouse of the realms. But about 51 years ago, their king died. Ever since, they've been in a steady state of decline, waging wars with the neighboring provinces of Candoth. ' Drizzt watched as Greiver pointed towars the upper left corner of the image - northwest at Candoth. Then he continued ' and Gladiatia to the south.' Then he pointed to the right of the image now. Then he continued once again ' Generally speaking, current day Necransia is the most politically aggressive, but militarily speaking, they are the weakest. ' Well i wonder why, was the thought that came to Drizzt. Then Greiver motioned back to the upper left side of the image, as he crossed in front of the class to stand on the left side he continued ' Candoth has always been politically governed by the residing military of the day. Although historically they've been pretty passive in relation to the other provinces, ever since Necransia's former king kicked it, all of the Candothian 'politicians' have been unanimous in their common goal to both keep up the wars between the two nations.' While he paused Drizzt wished he would put it in short term. It's taking to long for is liking Drizzt was starting to get irritated. Then he continued ' Gladiatia is pretty much the opposite of Candoth. That's to say, instead of being ruled by the military, they're ruled by politicians, who command an equally brutal army. So being pinned between Candoth and Gladiatia is really beating up Necransia.' As much as this was interesting, well not really the projecter interested Drizzt more than anything. Drizzt just half listened and started looking outside. He wished so much that he could just go outside and practice. While Drizzt was day dreaming Greiver's sounded like a murmur to him. Then Drizzt came back to reality and he was back listening to Greiver. 'Not only would acadamy house refugees, but acadamy would also serve to create a standing army for the province of Everland, should the warring provinces turn on Everland, particularily on the refugees. Most misinterpret this fact, and the reputation acadamy has instead is that which you all seem to have now - that acadamy's only purpose is to train students for combat. This is not entirely the truth, but yes, it is a part of it. King Zolton, several years ago now, was approached by the counsil of nations and it was told that because the student body was consistant of citizens of their respected provinces, that should they wish to participate in the wars, they were not to be restrained.' Drizzt should have listened to understand what he was talking about but he just looked at the pictures showing that he his interested. Then Greiver continued ' It's been acadamy's unofficial goal - and this is strictly to be kept in class - to educate you all to think for yourselves, to learn what's actually out there in the world besides war and politics. I say educate for one reason, and that's because you learn all the time, but education happens in places like this; between people. So if it's learning you're after, the door is behind you.' Drizzt was totally confused of what meaning did he mean by whatever he just said it made no sence. Then Greiver continued ' If not, then take a moment amoungst yourselves to decide what you'd like to do first in the class, and then pick someone to represent your decision. ' Drizzt looked at the class for someone to say something to explain what was going on then Set said 'So what are our options, instructor? ' It just made Drizzt more confused. Then Greiver said ' It breaks down two ways, how I see it: book work and foot work. Bookwork is like what we're doing now: lectures, discussions... stuff that that. Most of your histories, save for perhaps tactics and field history, are in-class lessons. Foot work is quite the opposite. Mostly combat training, but there are 'other' things we can do as well. However, you can't have one without the other.Oh right. Simple. Either way, you will be instructed in whatever manner I see fit. I'm offering you a chose between a more scholarly approach, or a more practical, real-world approach to the lesson materials.' It made better sence to him now. Drizzt couldn't deny the wisdom in aproaching an enemy. Sometimes it's the best way but if you do not learn it you can not use it to your adventage so Drizzt was going to stay. |

A student I was not yet acquainted with gave the first opinion of the optional lesson plans. "Can't we do both? I mean, I don't really have the means to take notes if you're lecturing, and it would get boring as well. Uhh, no offense. But if we did the more practical approach to the lessons, we wouldn't know the logistics behind the lesson, either. So, I just think it would be good if we used both approaches." This seemed a very intelligent idea. I decided to second it. I waved my hand in the same manner as my classmate, hoping to attract the same attention. "This seems to be a good course of action. Knowing the drills and techniques are nice and all, but what good does it do you if you don't know when to use which ones? If we take a small note after each practical, outlining the strengths and weaknesses of the skill we just learned, the knowledge could allow us to prevail in our teachings. There are many great fighters in the land, but how many incorperate intelligence into their actions? How many hold that knowledge at all?" Feeling I served my argument justly, I relaxed in my seat, taking in the reactions of the students, and most importantly, that of the instructor. I made a mental note to meet the student who had first spoken. I felt a rumble in my stomach. I hadn't eaten between classes, so it had been about two hours since breakfast. Brunch was due, but the class had just started. I cursed silently as time went on... |

Looking over at the student who was speaking, Koios gave a few nods of agreement and looked back at the teacher when he was finished. He resumed his class-wide speaking voice, saying "So either way, sir, what are we going to be doing today? It's nice that you ask for our input, but please tell me you had planned something for today" The way Koios saw it, he didn't want the class to fall short and have us just sitting around picking our ass for the rest of the time. Then he'd have to use his social skills. Heaven forbid... |

Otoko couldn’t help but marvel at the map making contraption now in use. It was like the screen that she seen used for puppet show when she lived in Hokosha Tengoku, just better. Otoko also mentally noted that Hokosha Tengoku and Bancho were not on the map. I made sense though, neither had any real connections to any of the states show on the map, they traded with private traders from Hokosha Tengoku and that was about it. Otoko enjoyed history and politics very much and noted down everything the instructor said. Otoko listened to the Instructor and also the boys who where giving their own ideas about how they should be thought. She personally didn’t care, and would enjoy lectures, but theory was only useful to a certain degree. |

"Can't we do both? I mean, I don't really have the means to take notes if you're lecturing, and it would get boring as well." began Drizzt. "Uhh, no offense. But if we did the more practical approach to the lessons, we wouldn't know the logistics behind the lesson, either. So, I just think it would be good if we used both approaches." Then Von piped in with "This seems to be a good course of action. How many hold that knowledge at all?" Less to the point, and then, to bring the class back on focus, Koios with "So either way, sir, what are we going to be doing today? It's nice that you ask for our input, but please tell me you had planned something for today." Greiver had already seen this coming, pretty much. Minus the little detours in decision making, and the indecisiveness of it all. Of course he was going to incorporate both forms of instruction into the lessons. But he wasn't going to emphasis on it; not cut a lesson in half to say "ok kids, time to take notes on what you just did" or anything like that. Well, he could, but that was... oh, how would have his favorite pupil to hate said it? "fucking lame-ass shit" ? Greiver looked over to Koios, and replied. "Actually." Greiver said, with a small grin. Carrying out the 'actually', he was already turned around picking up a large bound volume of hand-written text (by his hand, but that wasn't apparent from where they sat) "I've got something for this entire semester planned out." He took the volume, and dropped it with a resounding thud on the desk before him. "Go ahead, have a look." Greiver stepped away to the front of the class again, noting a couple little grins on several faces. "Alright! Well then, we'll have it your way!" Greiver announced after a moment. "Leave your stuff where it is, and follow me." OOC: Continued at: Second Floor Hallway Feel free to post a concluding post here before you post in Section 2. |

"Ack!" was all The Sun-Eyed Set had to say. Well, Set had more to say than that, but that's what she was thinking about this whole 'you tell me what you want' thing. Head instructor Greiver really was what the rumors said though: you could never tell what he'd do next. The fact of him also standing up there minutes earlier, and reciting the entire briefing of the political history of each province for the last fifty-some years or so was definatly impressive. Then again, it seemed that everything about him was impressive - the room, his clothes, his knowledge... The Sun-Eyed Set looked over Greiver quickly again. Not to say she hadn't before! Greiver wore his cloak, as always (black with silver trim and detailing, a silver rose clasp at his throat) overtop a silky black shirt (which had a silver crest worked in over the heart, and silver trim around the french cuffs, center and collar) black pants with a single silver stripe which ran down the side of each leg; a black leather belt with a worked buckle, blackened (although origonally soft grey) soft leather boots. And they were headed right past Set, and out the door at the back of the class. What was strange is that his hair (being neither black nor silver) seemed to suit his get-up well! Well, okay, it looked a little black, but the difference between the blackishness, the brownishness, and the copper tones was astounding! "What a strange man..." Set got up and smoothed out her skirt as best she could, running both hands down the back of her butt and thighs repeatedly. Stepping out into the aisle, Set stepped up the steps and was caught up with Koios. (although she didn't remember his name) "So what do you think of head instructor Greiver?" Set asked Koios and the other nearby student, whom was Von. Set remembered Von from the earlier class of instructor Aldaras', and he hadn't changed since then. Not that he would, but... well, he looked a little different. Now he looked hungry, and a little frustrated? Uh-oh!" Greiver had exited the class by this point, and was calling in for someone to wake up Loki. And since The Sun-Eyed Set, Koios and the guy who was called Von because his other name was ridiculously long and difficult to pronounce (another weird thing Set noticed, was that Greiver could say it just fine. "hmm...") - since they were near, Set decided to wake him. She dropped on her knees, keeping the conversation up with Von and Koios, saying to them (while turning her head over her right shoulder to look at them) "I think he's really smart, but he scares me a bit." Set turned her head back to look at Loki (whom she presumed to be asleep) and patted him hand with one hand while fluffing his snow-white hair with the other. "Loki?" Set asked, having learned his name from the instructor calling it into the class. "C'mon Loki, wake up." |

As people began filing out of the class, Koios got up and followed, on his way out he heard some feminine voice start talking to him. He never really bothered to look back at her, he just made conversation while looking out the door. "So what do you think of head instructor Greiver?" She said to him. "Is that his name?... I'm having trouble understanding him. His lesson so far seems to be like it's all over the place. I don't know, he just seems busy...maybe that's just me." he replied, his voice trailing somewhat at the end. "I think he's really smart, but he scares me a bit." It occured to Koios suddenly that he had no idea who this person, or anyone except for "Greiver" was in this school. "So, I never got your names..." He said generally to the person who had been talking to him and the other person who was being spoken at. |

"Yeah... he's probably swamped with the new semester, registries, and all that." Set said to Koios. "Or other things." Getting up off her knees, The Sun-Eyed Set said "I'm The Sun-Eyed Set. Loki's mind was in turmoil, it was spinning and hurt dreadfully. He wasn't entirely sure what exactly was going on but he was dimly aware that someone said his name. He tried to open his eyes but he found himself incapable. Hearing the person leave he focused all his energy on pushing the pain in his head away, successfully he opened his eye's and stood up to see that the class was know empty except for the fiery red head and the person who had been sitting in the back corner, entering into the hallway. At this point he took time to remember what he could before the pain came. Greiver prattling on about history and what was going to be covered in the course, students asking questions and being cut off by Griever. "He's quite the friendly type ain't he," thought Loki. He shook his head slightly and a new burst of pain assailed him, a tearing feeling was occurring, throwing his head back into oblivion and pain, he feel to his knees and his vision started to blur. Once more he mastered himself and stood, his head assailed by torrential waves of pain. He took a step forward and did not fall on the ground, taking that as a good sign he stepped forward again. His vision now clear and the pain subsiding he followed the students out of class to see the whole group following Griever. "Great," he thought, "Another lecture from that snob will be most interesting. Perhaps he will take a dislike to me, I certainly hope so." Straightening his Katana sheath he walked on. |

Otoko quickly put all her writing utensils back into the box as Set tried to wake Loki. She left with Von as Otoko got ready to go out into the hall. She stopped when Loki began to rise. He was obviously in pain because of the expression on his face and the way he staggered. As she went to see if he needed help, he seemed to be able to gain control of himself and quickly left the room. Otoko fallowed. |

Stuff began to happen in the classroom that Drestia had neglected to follow. Shit, what the hell happened to be? Did I black out or something? Drestia thought. She could have sworn she just spaced out for a few moments but now there was a lot of talking going on concerned with “what we were doing this semester.” Last she remembered they were talking about history and the academy and such. Oops... wonder if anyone noticed? She sort of figured it was up to Greiver to decide that one, not his students but I might get him better relations with them. Von beside her and another boy were giving their input. She smiled a bit at him, wondering how this would go. ”Alright then, we’ll have it your way! Leave your stuff where it is, and follow me.” With that he strode from the room, expecting his students to follow. A smile spread slowly on Drestia’s face and she shook her head slowly. The students began to leave and Von left her side. She stayed back a bit, watching the orange-haired girl attempt to wake up Loki. He seemed very disoriented. He fell to his knees and appeared to be in pain. Drestia stood watching, unsure of whether to do anything. Soon he began to recover and Drestia left the room to join the rest of class with Greiver. |
