You
Why did you decide to join the Guild?

I was looking for a heavy-RP guild that would accept Draenei characters and isn't military structured. Preferably, this guild would also be compatible with what I had in mind for my character. Ere Argus fulfills both these requirements, and seems like a fun group with fresh ideas as well.

What other Role-playing guilds have you been in?
As my only guild experiences have been on Sporeggar, I haven't been in any RP guilds on this server. We joined a small guild a while back, but that is essentially just a group of friends wanting to play together with mild RP involved. Shriyaro and I were looking for something a little more focussed. On Sporeggar I have been a member of the guild 'The Shattered Blades', which is blood elf only, untill it disbanded last weekend, after which I joined the follow-up called 'The Red Blades'.

Do you have any special 'interests', like writing stories, drawing or anything of the like?
I like writing a lot, and occasionally try my hand at a little (amateurish) drawing. I also read quite a bit, but most of it is school-related these days.

What do you expect from the Guild?
Fun RP, a chance to develop my own roleplay skills and character, meeting new friends.

How good is your knowledge of English?
I'm not a native speaker, but I study English at University. Occasionally, especially when I'm tired, I do make mistakes, but I try to prevent that from happening as much as possible. Sometimes I can be quite the Grammar Nazi, my apologies in advance, it is the way they make me think in class.

Anything else?
I sometimes take little breaks from the game for study-related reasons, but I always do my best to attend events and try to find IC reasons if I miss any. I don't consider myself hard-core or anything, I'm a casual gamer and don't really care if I 'win' or not as long as it's been a fun ride. I'm usually online with Shriyaro, but we try to keep our addictions in check by doing other things as well. I am currently living with Shriyaro and we've been a couple for over three years now.

Your character
Why did you name your character the way you did?
To me, Ariyuni sounds exotic and playfull. It doesn't really signify anything that I know of, I just picked some random sounds that I like and that I think represent my character and went from there.

What is your character's personality?
She is young and upbeat, and can be a little bit on the naive side. She loves life and all living creatures and does not believe that something can be inherently evil. She is very religious, but accepts those that don't understand her faith. Her interests lie in the lighter and prettier side of things, but she can be very serious when it comes down to it. Sometimes she might appear oblivious and locked in her own little world, but in reality she takes note of everything and balances things out carefully in her own mind. She is training to be a priestess so she can heal and help those in need, as she can't stand by and see the world suffer. Her primary goals right now are learning about the ways of the light, protecting Shriyaro in every way possible, and finding a place in a commune so she can reconnect with her people.

How do you think your character will fit in the guild concept?
Ariyuni can always be found for a good talk or a shoulder to cry on. Her main concern is always the well-being of others, even if it puts herself in mortal danger. She will offer advice if asked but never force anything. In a debate she will always take the side of those who are not represented or those who are on the losing team, even if that contradicts with her own beliefs. She is altruistic to a fault, so she needs structures like a commune and people like Shriyaro to ensure that she is not taken advantage of. She is a good healer and a patient woman, who shows promise of being a wise and intelligent priestess one day. But make no mistake, she can be very fierce in her hour of need.

How easy is your character to anger?
Not at all. She is more often a cooling and soothing force on the tempers of others, like Shriyaro. Of course, she is not a saint, and if pushed long and deliberate enough she will lash out quite furiously. And once that line is crossed, there is no telling how long she will remain angry with someone.

What are your character's views on Death Knights, Warlocks and Orcs?
Their existence and abuse is a cause of great sadness, but no one is ever completely lost for the light. Death Knights are good people corrupted by the Lich King, but with a little guidance they will surely come back to where they belong. Warlocks have been seduced by power but with long studies and hard work they too can redeem themselves. Orcs were used in the past but the destruction of the Draenei was not their fault. If anything, the Draenei are responsible for bringing the corruption to the planet of these creatures. Should they decide to join the light, all will be well, and they can be a powerfull ally against the Burning Crusade.

IC letter:

Greetings Sister,

I hope this day finds you well, and may our people bask in the glory of the Light.
I have heard from your commune from a priest that is trying to find a place for me and my companion, as we have been travelling this strange planet for some time without a real place to call our home. Our stay in Stormwind has been very nice, but I feel these Humans, Elves, Gnomes and Dwarves are not open to the kind of connection we are looking for. We have seen the most amazing things here, and are determined to explore even more, but we are looking for brothers and sisters to share our experiences with. To fully understand the beings and objects of this land, I feel we need others in our position to discuss matters with. Likewise, I think it is necessary to form a unified front so that these beings can understand us in return.

I am sure that we can be of some use within your group, as I am fortunate enough to be skilled in healing and Shriyaro is one of the best warriors I have seen. She is very strong and courageous, and goes to great lengths to protect what she stands for. I understand she has also sent you a letter, in fact she is writing it next to me as I am putting these words down. She has a very serious look on her face, so I apologise if her words sound too grave. She can have a little bit of a strong first impression on people. But I digress, I am sure other things are more pressing for your attention than my musings about my companion. My apologies.

I hope we meet soon. Untill then, may the Naaru light your path with joy.

Ariyuni.

I feel a little uneasy reviewing an application made jointly with another application as it implies something heavy further down the line, so I'll try to ignore the connection.

Overall a good first impression, I don't think there's any real reason not to greenlight this.

This application is Approved (1), and is still up for review by other members and officers. You will be notified of any change or important notes arising about your application.

Thanks for the quick reply.

One question, though: What is the 'something heavy' you are worried about? :)

Well it wouldn't be the first time I've seen online drama escalate extremely rapidly when people know eachother IRL - Probably far more so when they're actually involved.

It's not an accusation, just an observation about a scenario I hope to avoid.

Really?
Nothing to worry about here. We're both open and laid-back people. I'm sure any touchy situation can be dealt with in a responsible manner. :D If not, you have my permission to hit me with a giant piece of cheese.

With 3 separate Guild members approving of this application, I'll extend the offer for an In Character interview.

IC response in Shriyaro's application thread.
