Welcome! Here are some stepts and tips that will help you get started in the Guild, Ere Argus is a heavy RP guild and that means that you are expected to carefully study and digest the lore. You don't have to role-play your character as a stereotype Draenei, but you should know the stereotype! Step one - Common sense There won't be any detailed 100-article lawbook telling you what you may and may not do. Simply follow the Realm rules and common sense. Some specific things I want to mention still: -No ERP/cybor in public. We don't want to look like some cheap cybor-guild. So either avoid it or do it somewhere private. -No griefing RPers. This entails corpse camping, intentionally killing low-level enemy quest-givers over and over, disrupting RP events (for both Horde and Alliance) and so on. Step two - Things to read Guild concept which you can find in the recruitment section is highly advisable. Please read up on the Draenei lore and the lore behind the Light (Shamanism is optional, although advised); http://destron.blogspot.com/2008/02/exodar.html http://www.wowpedia.org/Draenei http://www.wowpedia.org/Light http://www.wowpedia.org/Naaru http://www.wowpedia.org/Velen Some fast tips: -Draenei live incredibly long, immortal lives, with Argus-born over 25k+ years being common. -Draenei did not follow the Light during their time on Argus, learning it from the Naaru after the exodus. Step three - Regarding your rank The ranks are not exactly placed on a ladder; Brothers, Sisters, Seekers, Peacekeepers and Adepts are all equal despite appearing above one-another on the guild list. The higher ranks such as Lightwarden, Caregiver and Triumvir are for officers who have the responsibility of maintaining the guild mechanically; Everyone still has equal say in votes such as for applications on the forums, and everyone is allowed to create and manage RP events as they please. Step four - Choosing a Path Your Path represents a direction you would like your character to go, or a role you feel they belong in. Paths are not set in stone and you can choose to change yours at any time, simply by asking an officer to change your guild rank. A Path does not define your character and is merely a way to easily convey to other roleplayers what place your Draenei has set for themselves at this point in their life. Step five - Thinking about your place If you have a special idea of how your character can contribute to the guild, for example a scholar studying druids, expert on gnome-draenei relationships and you want to roleplay it out, feel free to. Bring it up with others and see if you can get them interested in your undertaking as well! Step six - Let go of the ladder! Yes, the guild has a guild leader and it has some officers, but please try to let go of the ladder-thinking. IC everyone is expected to either reach consensus on the best course of action, adhere to the teachings of the Naaru, or simply obey whoever is the most experienced in the matter. OOC we give as much leeway as possible with the Officers mostly being there for specific maintenance and management tasks. If you have aspirations to organize and lead events, don't be discouraged by the fact that you don't have an Officer-rank. Feel free to speak up your mind on guild meetings or in the chat, propose your ideas and organize events. If you feel the guild could benefit from a new direction or that a new player should be part of the guild, don't be afraid to share your thoughts with the rest of us. |
