Ok, so I was running around the neighborhood (that is to say, I was checking all my bookmarked webcomics for updates) and I landed on Applegeeks. The most recent Applegeeks Lite (#270) has Alice asking Jayce if a certain dress makes her butt look big. Two blank panels ensue, then as Jayce attempts to respond, Hawk leaps in shouting "IT'S A TRAP!" The punchline, I think, is the typical one of a guy being unable to respond to such a question. Suppose the dress does not make her butt look big. If this is the case, the guy tells the truth and that's done. However, women being more observant than men, will know straight away if this dress does indeed make her butt look too big. She already knows, she just wants something to comfort her, to let her know that it looks good, regardless of how big it may be. Ergo, she's only asking for a second opinion; it already looks too big. She wouldn't ask if it didn't. So, the man now has two options: tell her the truth, or lie. He obviously cannot lie, but telling the truth would offend her, even if she already knows it. She doesn't want the truth, she doesn't want a lie, what can a guy do? Hence the punchline, hence the trap. Got me thinking though. The potential way out of it would be to, perhaps, proclaim "Yes!!" and then proceed to compliment her on her voluptuous posterior. Suppose, just suppose, that the guy LIKES big butts. If such is the case, and we've already shown that he cannot lie, then he could very well get out of this well-known and otherwise inescapable trap. What do you think? Plausible? Either way, I am now simply ITCHING for a female to have me contemplate the volume of her gluteus, just so I can circumvent her paradoxical query and shower her derriere with prodigious praise. Any takers? ^_^ |

hehe, I figured the punchline was the fact "It's a trap!" was a very commonly known phrase off of Star Wars -nods- but -shrugs- Honestly...I don't think I'd ever ask that...simply cause I rarely care about what other people think about me...but -shrugs- not to say that when I'm a girl I won't...being stuck in a male body sucks, though |
