In a hope to stop spam bots that have been charging full on lately, I have turned on the e-mail validation tool. It is the hope that it will stop all spam bots (though probably not). So, I apologize to new members, but I really don't want spam bots all over the place.

No one wants spam bots.. and anyway, seeing as how we're getting a new member once every.. oh.. month.. I don't think it'll be much of a hassle for our new members.

Besides, most reasonable forums have the email validation already. It's a standard thing, no one really cares.

Ooooooo warning toolbar.. That's new.. *warns self*

Edit reason: Merging a double post -nods-

I'd also like to make a note right now...that I will not rest until all of these pharmacy spambots are stopped. If they continue to persist, I will take heavy action and, sadly, force not only user validation, but also admin validation. This will stop them completely, as it is impossible to post until you have been validated, and only an admin would be able to complete the process, which at this time consists of me and Freerefill. So, with that said, I do apologize to any new members this may push away (not that we're getting any right now ANYWAYS), but this step will be taken if necessary, though I would definitely hate to do it.

If you at all want to not worry about having super tight security, you and I can just keep an eye out for spam bots. They're not nice, but it's not like they're scary. A quick delete and they're done. I usually check the forum once a day, I'm sure you check it more often than I do. It wouldn't be hard for us to keep a few bots at bay with a little elbow grease if it means legitimate people and posts have an easier time. I for one wouldn't mind the extra effort, but that's just me. Just a suggestion ^_^

-nods- I agree...it is a good idea to keep a close watch...so far it looks like the latest filter is working...so I doubt we have to worry about the pharmacy bots anymore...now we just hope no other bots pop up, I suppose...
