*Jake is apparently staying at Abby's a lot. Kerry seems to be noticing Jake/Abby. Jake is on a surgical rotation.

* Neela: So it's already an every-night kind of thing?
Abby: Just since he started his surgical rotation. Dubenko's working him pretty hard, my place is closer to the hospital.
What a pathetic line of reasoning; Neela sees right through it
Neela: Oh, I see, sleeping over is basically a convenience.

*Carter/Ray/Neela treats a woman with an addiction problem that she and her husband is in denial over it. When Carter with Ray/Neela watching tries to talk to them about it the husband and patient attack Carter. Security is called.

*Sam/Luka apparently have a disagreement over Alex.

*This episode deals a lot with Weaver/birth Mom, but we have little of their interaction.

It opens up with Kerry going to a hotel room and asking for Helen, her mother. Then Kerry is at work all day, doing one of her twice-a-month rotations to keep her skills up. At the beginning of Act IV, she has gone out to dinner with Helen who shows her alot of family photos. Kerry asks to see one of her father, and we learn that Kerry's mother, Helen, was 14 years old when she got pregnant, and Kerry's father was 15 years old and named Cody Boone. The photo is the two of them leaning against a '53 Chevy.

As Carterfan reported above, it does seem like Abby and Jake do have an on-going relationship.

I'm not sure that Sam and Luka have had an argument. Sam starts telling Susan about why snowflakes are white, information she learned while she and Luka helped Alex with a book report -- something they really got into. Luka does not appear in the spoilers so far.

Carter is there, as is Susan and Neela, Ray. As Carter tries to intervene with the couple on behalf of the interns, the man assaults Carter, and a fight ensuses. Neela almost bashes the buy on the head with a bed pan, and then security arives. Meanwhile, Dubenko seems to get into trouble with Kerry.

The patients are the couple who are in denial about the wife's use of demerol. There is a woman whose mother has Pick's Disease, a form of Alzheimer's of a sort. There is an injured icescater hurt during the morning practice, 530am-7am, has has a nasty gash in her leg. There is an obnoxious guy who needs suturing, and a guy injured at a birthday party.

Carter:I spend 23 hours a day wondering whether we're wrong for each other. But in the 24th hour, I realize I've been thinking about her for 23 hours, and I come back to there's something about her that I can't stay away from. Something about her that makes me want to... love her

I can't wait to see this stuff about Kerry and her biological mother! I mean we have so many thing we don't know about Kerry...maybe they will finally resolve that issue from way back when.

Now all they need to tell us is why Kerry has the crutch!

01/29 - Due to a scheduling conflict, Sissy Spacek is being replaced by Frances Fisher ("House of Sand and Fog") in the February 10th episode of "ER" entitled "Shortness of Breath." Fisher will play an important person from Weaver's (Laura Innes) past. Source: NBC

01/26 - Dr. Weaver (Laura Innes) encounters an evasive patient (Oscar-winning guest star Sissy Spacek) who shocks her by revealing that she is her birth mother, who put her baby up for adoption at 15. As they spend time sharing their life stories, their budding relationship withers when Weaver confesses to her mother - an evangelical Christian - that she is gay. Elsewhere, Dr. Pratt (Mekhi Phifer) warily turns over an addled elderly woman to the care of Jane (guest star Sarah Gilbert, "Roseanne") while Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) causes a commotion when he confronts a couple hoping to scam some painkilling drugs. Source: NBC

so just replace sissy spacek with frances fisher

Ohhhh!! I would much rather see Sissy Spacek! Who knows, maybe she will still play her mother!

Abby: It's not a gang, it's a club.
Carter: Not another stage-diving incident, I hope.
Abby: First rule of girls club is - you don't talk about girls club.
Carter: You're not going to tell me what you did?
Abby: Oh, you know, the usual, crank calls, pillow fights, lesbian experimentation.
