X-rays

We've all seen the ER docs look at x-rays. When a gunshot victim rolls in and the bullet is still in them they take x-rays. See if you can answer these questions.

(1) Do bullets show up because they are made of lead and people use lead to block out x-rays?

(2) Do they show up as a white spot where something should be?

(3) Do they show up as a bullet sitting there?

No, anything that's solid will show up in an x-ray, not just because it's lead. That's why bone shows. You can see outline of other tissues too. Yes, they look white in x-rays. The more dense the material is the whiter it appears on an x-ray because of lack of penetration by the rays.
I'm beginning to think "E.R." stands for "Everyone's Retarded".

What do you mean? If people eat the contact lenses? Or on a head x-ray?

I guess that would depend on the material of the contacts. Like I said before, more dense = less penetration by x rays = it appears whiter.
