Bucking the international adoption trend, ER actor Goran Visnjic and his wife Ivana have adopted an American baby. The child, a boy the couple has named Tin Visnjic, was born April 19th at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Tin is pronounced T-ee-n, with a long 'e,' and is very popular in Goran's native Croatia.

It is the first child for the couple, who will celebrate their 8-year anniversary next week, on May 8.

If anyone here has a chance to pick up Story, a Croatian magazine, there's a really great article/interview of sorts in there about Tin. He weighed only 5.5 pounds and Ivana was quoted saying that he has lots of blonde hair and big, blue eyes. Goran didn't go to the hospital out of respect for the woman's privacy, plus he was filming his last scene of ER in Chicago at the time, and Ivana says that he returned home at the same time she brought Tin from the hospital, and is nervous about holding the baby, since he's still so small. There's a lot more, but I don't have any time for translating, unfortunately.

AAAWWWWW! Tata Goran! I'm so happy for them! Does anyone know why they decided to adopt? Did they try for a baby and had no luck? My aunt and uncle triedfor 8 years and then adopted two babies and they are a beautiful family but it was real heartache for themwhile they were trying and being disappointed.

Thanks so much for the details. I am so happy to hear about the details. Sadly, we don't get this magazine here.

Congratulations to Goran and Ivana on their new baby! How wonderful for them! I really like their attitude toward adoption - that an adopted baby is not a "last resort - substitute for having your own birth child". That is one lucky baby! And it's also sweet that Goran and Ivana will adopt another child if they can't have their own. No child should be an "only child". I was and it was lonely. When I went to kindergarten, I was so shy I couldn't relate to the other kids and it took a long time to overcome. So I'm especially pleased by their attitude.

Who knows, though? They might still have their own baby. My aunt and uncle tried for years to have a baby. They ended up adopting a gorgeous baby girl. Within 6 months, she was pregnant. The OB doc told her that sometimes couple just try too hard and are all stressed out about it and nothing happens. After they adopt a child, they relax and surprise! the woman is pregnant. Needless to say, my aunt was a very busy Mom with two children very close in age!

Anyway, all the best to Goran and Ivana! :yahoo:

I'm back to my original favorite character, Susan Lewis. Sherry, I enjoyed your acting and character so much (not just because your character and I had the same name). I loved your wit and you brightened the screen. I felt you were cheated out of a decent exit arc, when all it consisted of was a "one liner" announcement from Kerry. You deserved more...
