ER STAR INNES DAMAGES BACK
Published: October 26, 2006

ER actress LAURA INNES has damaged her spine after playing injured DR KERRY WEAVER in the US TV show for 10 years.

The 47-year-old star has received treatment on her back after noticing regular discomfort there.

Her character in ER has recently had hip surgery in the show meaning she no longer has to limp.

Innes says, "My real back was getting screwed up.
"I got a bone density test and the bottom of my spine is starting to curve on one side from 10 years of raising my hip.

"I've just started going to the chiropractor. I don't need an operation."

Gotta love the irony there. Laura messes up her back from playing 10 years of a disabled Weaver, who just fixed her disability. I guess that explains why she wasn't in the last two episodes at all, and why we may not see her ever-improving post-op limp, which was a nice touch. Even though it's been some time since her surgery, it was good the way she wasn't completely cured overnight. But with this incident, I think her recovery will be over, because I highly doubt Innes will want to make the recovery seem so believeable that she would risk permanent damage to her back. I swear I don't know any spoilers, but I'm betting that when we see her in "Heart of the Matter" this week, she'll be walking normally.

I agree... I didn't really like her when she first came on either... she seemed pretty stuck up... and too good for everyone... but I love her now... I love how she has "evolved" on the show... and I think the show would be "limp" without her because she is the backbone of the show.

I read another quick blurb and it explained that the whole miraculous hip recovery thing came from her need to stop the crutch usage. I've had hip displasia and surgery and so has my entire family, so we thought that it was pretty dumb that the reason should be that, however it makes sense if they had to find somethign that was a quick fix for Laura to correct her back issues. Okay, I forgive the writers for that. Maybe I can watch the new episodes easier now...:)
