I disagree...It will of course be not the same without luby as it has resolved so many character issues for the both, however MT more then held her own without Luka and she will again. But i do see what u mean, that it will be hard to give MT a really juicy storyline with someone new as a love interest in s14 and we have seen the single mum thing already, with corday but i am holding my trust in MT's acting and TPTB's storylines. To lose both major characters would be a disaster. Although I do admire PN enough to think she could run the sow by herself, her chemisry with everyone is awesome.

Sorry, that was a long reply without making any conclusions! I am just sooo excited to think of what is gonna happen in Croatia!

Maura signed for 14th seasn.

i can't remember where I read that but I also have read a few times that she's signed. and also she seems to make it pretty clear she's around for s14 for her last few interviews. Which is interesting cos if Luka/Abby's fates are so interlinked in s14 then u would expect MT's contract to be as unsure as GV's
thanks for my avator dubenkojunkie!

It appears Goran is indeed leaving. I just read this from 'Ask Ausiello' at TVGuide.com

Question: Any ER scoop? I will love you forever.— Ruby
Ausiello: Hope you have a defibrillator laying around, because multiple sources confirm that Goran Visnjic has decided not to renew his contract, and will most likely leave the show at the end of the season. I say "most likely" because I'm told Warner Bros. is attempting to broker a Noah Wyle-type deal with Visnjic that would bring Dr. Kovac back for five or six episodes next season — likely the show's last. That would give producers enough time to script an appropriate ending to the Kovac/Abby love story, since I'm fairly certain Maura Tierney is sticking around.

This is my first post here after being a luker for a very LONG time. According to Ausiello's vodcast the contracts of both GV AND MT expire at the end of this season. Claims that GV is "leaning" toward not renewing. In his first revelation he was pretty sure MT was staying. Quite a contradiction if you ask me.

What does this tell us? That no one really knows at the present time including Ausiello. Someone said in a previous post to 'keep the faith." I echo that sentiment.

ER heart-throb GORAN VISNJIC has reportedly quit the hit hospital drama. The Croatian actor, who plays DR LUCA KOVAC, is thought to be leaving the show at the end of the current series. However, TV bosses want Visnjic to star in a further six episodes, to allow them time to write him out of the storyline, which involves his relationship with DR ABBY LOCKHART, played by MAURA TIERNEY. Visnjic, 34, joined ER in 1999

The key words in that quote are "thought to be." GV can't be leaving if he returns for six episodes next season. Leaving is leaving...never to return again. He stated on the Today Show that ER wll be filming an episode in Croatia this coming May. Said episode will most likely air in season 14. Don't panic.

I also saw that Today Show interview. I believe he said that they were scouting locations right now to start filming for episodes that will air in May. I don't want to accept it either, but I seems pretty much like a 'done deal'. I just hope he does agree to the additional six episodes next season that the producers are asking for.

I have Goran's Today Show interview on tape. He said the Croation episode will be filmed in May. Said episode, if it is still in the works, will most likely air at the beginning of season 14.

All I'm saying is that he can't be truly leaving if he is to return, albeit for six episodes, in season 14. Do you see what I'm saying? Goran won't particapate in a full season but he will be back in a limited capicity. He makes his offical exit then not now.

Will he agree to those six episodes? I think TBTP and Goran have all ready worked that all out. A character's coming and going is not something that can be saved for the last minute. To borrow a line from a baseball player "it ain't over til it's over." And that would be at the conclusion of his episode arc next season.

So when he decides to leave and Abby and Joe go along with him, they will move to live in Croatia? It seems to me that they will do that to the characters since the people who leave tend to travel AWAY from Chicago... Like it's where the plague is. Or the hospital is. At any rate, they must not go! They should stay. What's this need to leave the show anyway? It just started to get btter. I think we need this as a "make it up to us" thing. :sniff:

I'm repeating myself but...

The reason that I'm not taking stock in any of this is because of Noah Wyle. Yes, I said Noah Wyle. The media had that guy leaving ER a couple of years before he actually left. If I remember correctly, it was almost carved in stone that he was leaving and then at the last minute...POOF...he signed his contract for another year. It was almost laughable.

These reports that we are seeing now about GV's departure all seem to stem from Ausiello's revelation last week and I don't believe he knows anymore then we do. We have to remember that this is contract time and people are going to circulate misinformation just to get a proper answer.

I do believe that if Goran where leaving it would have been reported on more believeable news sites such as Entertainment Tonight and E!. Plus he would not have said "I"ll be around" when questioned on the Today Show about leaving.

It could turn out that this tizzy is for nothing.

He did give an interview on E! that he has played Luka for eight years now and he feels it is time to move on.

I don't know what more you are expecting him to say about it.

And again from Ausiello:

Question: Is it 100 percent confirmed that Goran Visnjic won't come back (as a regular) for the 14th season of ER (Ask Ausiello 2/28)? What about Maura Tierney? Anything new on her coming back?— Alice

Ausiello: I'd say it's 99 percent certain he won't be back as a series regular. And Maura is contracted through next season, so she's definitely sticking around.

Was the interview on E! before or after his Today Show appearence? According to a post on another board Goran will be taking a break from ER at the end of 2007. I believe the poster more then Ausiello.

October of 06, you can even find it on youtube if you feel like searching for it.

I'll put more stock in Ausiello, a professional in the industry, over some random board poster. It's not news that GV wants to move on. It hasn't been news for well over a year.
