From the amazing Bru at CF.

More important (well, not really), I must share with you this juicy (but heartbreaking) scoop: Goran Visjnic all but admitted he's ready to leave ER at the end of this season. As you can see in the Vine show, when asked about his plans after his contract expires in May, he started off with an "Uhhh...nnn..." then said, "I've been on this show for seven years. I've been here for a long time, so I think maybe it's time to think about some other things."
Regardless, Goran's on board for the current season, which I highly recommend you (re)check out to see what all the fuss is about."

Video?
Official interview?
New Carby signature yet to come!

A reason for Carby: Because Carter provides the "lo." And Abby the "ve."
Because he is the sky to her clouds.

Can't I be obsessed with both?

Sorry that's all I know on the matter. And he did say in his JR interview that he only had two more years left- ending S13.

I hope this isn't true. He must know that he and Maura carry the show, can't he last one more season? I would rather he last until the end of next season-that being the series finale-than he leave at the end of this season, leaving ER twisting in the wind and Abby completely broken. Maura's not going anywhere, so if he leaves this season it'll be the end of Abby and Luka. That can't happen.

While Kristen implies that he basically dropped large hints that he was leaving, he sort of avoided the question. That his contract is up at the end of the season isn't anything I haven't heard before... nothing is completely certain yet.
I would put some shipper message here, but I'm just not *that* kind of fan...

I'd question that. While his character is very popular, Abby's kind of a split. I get the feeling that as many people love her as hate her. It was said ER would die without Doug... Without Mark... Without Carter. Just about every time someone leaves, there's a big fuss about how they were carrying the show, and then, it goes on.

If he and Maura Tierny really did carry the show, they'd have axed half of the other stars and put that money toward his salary to make sure he kept around.

I think this is more true than ever before. There isn't another character that is so beloved that they could hold people's attention for a whole season. Sure, Abby would still be there, but she would be a broken mess without Luka there to love her and raise their child with her. That's why I agree that Abby really is a split. Overall, I really like Abby, but when she's got all kinds of drama in her life, she makes herself miserable, and then spreads the misery around. I don't want the whole last season to be like that, it's too exhausting.

If any of the other characters were given as much screen time as Kovac or Abby, there's a very good chance afore mentioned character would have an equal following. People rarely get attatched to characters they never really see and who don't get plots.

I've been thinking about what they would do with Luby too, once Goran left. Who knows, they might just kill him off... anyway. I hope they leave at the same time.

With Doug, Mark and Carter they had great characters ready to go on and let this show at its great ratings.
I don't see how anyone besides Goran will be able to carry on with ER and still get 15 million people to tune in every Thursday.
I love Maura, but I doubt she will be enough to keep this show running.
And maybe Maura does leave when Goran leaves, then who else do we got to keep this show as great as it is now?

I mean, look at Somebody To Love, alot of people expirienced it as boring compared to the other 2 episodes of this season. I think that's because Maura only had 2 minutes in this episode, and Goran didn't do much either. All we saw was Pratt and Gates and some of the others trying to run the ER.

Many other people liked that episode for the lower Abby-content.

I can think of several of the current starring characters that could successfully be brought into a more prominent roll.

And I can think of reasons that every single one of those characters couldn't do it alone. Well, they couldn't do it alone and give ER the same feel that it has now.

I agree. if Abby and Luka both left at the same time then it would be easier to deal with. On the other hand, only Luka leaving could open up a new plotline for abby/joe.

The only way Abby would be left alone with Joe is if Luka is dead. No way is he ever going to leave that kid.

Well... if he thinks it's time, it's time. Isn't this sort of old news anyway? We knew he wasn't going to stick around after Season 13 at the end of season 11...

Don't see what the fuss is about.
