To make pictures perfect for forums, they need to be 3 things: 1. Clearity and show what you are trying to show! 2. No wider than 600px, otherwise people will have trouble viewing them 3. Small enough file size to download quickly ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The easiest way to make pictures forum ready is as follows: Pc users follow these instructions: 1. Right click this link, and save the file to your computer - http://download.microsoft.com/download/whi...wertoySetup.exe this is called a Windows XP Powertoy, and its a simple little add-on that will add a "resize images" to your right-click menu. This handy little toy lets you reduce the size and quality of your images to any size you want. Instructions for use: 1. Make sure installation is completed 2. Right click on the picture you want to put in the forum 3. Click on resize images 4. Select the size you want the images to be, i recommend the option of fitting to the 800x600 screen(if you want to do multiples you need to select them all before right clicking) 5. Click OK and you will see your resized images appear before your eyes, the filename will be something like "originalpic-medium.jpg or what ever it was named before. 6. Upload the image to your favorite host and you are done! F-cool mac users, follow these instructions: 1. Save this link to your computer - http://www.eastcoastdrift.net/pics/resizer.app its a little Applescript Qwux made to resize images to 600px wide. Only works in Mac osX . 2. Leave the script somewhere you can find it, have it on your desktop down the bottom. 3. Drag your pic, only one at a time, onto the resizer icon, you can drag from anywhere in finder, it doesn't matter, this is a smart script 4. After a few seconds, your new smaller images will be in the same folder as the original, called "scaled.originalpic.jpg" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Uploading your images Now you have your smaller, forum friendly image ready to be hosted, where do you go?? To any of the free hosting sites around. Let me know what you think!!!! |
