Dolph sent back, If she's going thru withdrawal from drugs, we might be able to help her. If she's turned, then any human cravings would disappear. However, I would be very wary about springing it on her the first day she's come here. Maybe if we make her feel welcome here and encourage her to return if she wishes, then it might be something to mention in the future. Ask her if she has family that might be looking for her, and make sure you sound concerned. When the time is right, we might tell her and ask her if she would like to join the pack.

One of the pack, a female werewolf named Larentia, was on guard. She was in her human form; a thin girl with a boyish figure, green eyes, dark skin and dark brown hair. She was to be on guard for the rest of the night, after which another wolf would relieve her.

Got it. Thanks, boss. Sinopa put her tea down and leaned forward a bit. "Capri... pardon me if this is forward, but you said you had family. Are they looking for you right this minute?"

Capri hesitated but nodded, looking glum. "I'm always scaring my sister half to death with... with my nonsense," she said, looking away.

"Well... If you ever need to get away, we're usually here." Sinopa smiled at her. "I know I spend my days at that coffee shop in-" Sinopa paused, squinting at her. "... goodness, you said you have a sister, I thought you looked weirdly familiar to me. Your sister makes the best lattes I've ever had."

Capri giggled, feeling proud of her sister. "She's a good cook in general."

-----

Kiki and Dale sat down in the woods, the former exhausted by the constant walking and Dale refusing to go any further into the trees. He cited ghost stories about the warehouse as being the reason he refused to step out... ignoring the smell of wolves in the air at least.

"But if she's in there, we need to get her before she hurts herself!" Kiki insisted.

"I'm sure she's fine. If she were in distress, we'd already know." Dale peered around some of the bushes, frowning.

A weathered and rusted fence greeted Seerian as he made it to the grounds surrounding the warehouse. It had taken him previous nights of exploring to find it, but he was able to circle around to a hole in the fence. Skinny as he was, he wriggled through with relative ease. He straightened out his shirt and began to make his way to the warehouse proper, walking among old palettes, barrels, boxes, and the like.

"You can always come here if you need to get away from it all," Lupe said. "Especially if you bring your sister's coffee. I love the fact that she's never stingy with the caramel for a caramel latte. You can really taste it."

~~~
Larentia had had a rather boring evening so far. She glanced at her watch; it was only five minutes since she'd last looked and she sighed. Then, in the next instant, she went on the alert as she heard the distinctive sounds of a human walking thru the yard surrounding the warehouse. Larentia decided to go and confront the intruder; maybe she could head them off. If she couldn't, then she could sound the alarm. Making her way stealthily round to where the intruder was walking, Larentia stepped out boldly right in front of him.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" she challenged the stranger with narrowed eyes.
Capri giggled, blushing despite herself. Kiki had always been the best cook between them - though Capri's cuisine skills fell more in the baking region. "I'll see what I can do. If... If she isn't too mad, maybe... could I bring her here? So she knows I'm-I'm not running with a bad crowd like I used to?" she asked, a little nervously.
Sinopa thought about it for a minute. "... I'll talk to Dolph first. He gets a little antsy with new people wandering in unannounced-" She froze, hearing Larentia outside. Shit!
It wasn't just Larentia's words or the sound of a human outside that caught her attention. She smelled a vampire.
A very, very unfamiliar vampire.
-----
Dale peered through the bushes on the far side of the yard, not on the opposite side to where Seerian was - more the next side of the building than anything. Kiki was behind him, looking exhausted and like she'd lost a fight with a thistle bush. "Is she in there?" Kiki whispered.
"High possibility." Dale narrowed his eyes. The boy getting caught could be a good distraction... but there were others inside and he had no desire to fight.
Seerian froze and his green eyes went comically wide as a teen girl came almost out of nowhere, and right in front of him. He shook the shock off and laughed, rubbing at the goosebumps on his arms. "Jesus, girl, you a ninja? Ya scared me!" His eyes sparkled and his grin turned lopsided. He relaxed his posture, looking arrogant and flirtatious. "Name's Seerian, doll. Just lookin around at this old place. It's kinda neat, ain't it? I think it might be haunted." He had noted her territorial tone, the challenge in her voice and eyes, and wondered if she lived here. Was this a hobo hideout? He wouldn't be too surprised, but usually the homeless were more easy-going than this.
A gang? The thought gave him shivers, and made him yet more excited. Hell, yeah, bring it on!
Lupe went still, delicately sniffing the air. She put on an air of casualness, but in her head, she was talking to Sinopa.
"Sinopa, there's a vampire out there. I can smell them. Oh Selene, what do we do?"
~~~

"Haunted?" Larentia laughed. "You serious, boy? Probably been watching too many bad horror movies. There's no ghosts in this place, not one."

She inwardly scowled at the human boy's arrogance and patronising tone. But it wasn't her place to deal with him, so Larentia sent out a mental alert to Dolph, currently inside the warehouse.

When Dolph got Larentia's alert, he growled. He had been chilling out and resented the interruption, but it was the intruder he was angry with rather than one of his trusted pack members. He uncurled himself, changed into his human form and walked quickly in the direction of Larentia's call. On the way, Dolph caught a whiff of vampire. He could hardly leave Larentia in the lurch, yet the vampire needed to be headed off. So, he sent a mental message to the only other male werewolf in the place, named Phelan, and told him to gather the rest of the pack together and go and intercept the vampire. All save Lupe and Sinopa, who were to remain inside with their visitor.

"I know, I smell them too. Doesn't smell like any of the ones I've seen in town, but..." Sinopa stood up, cracking her back with her fists against her spine as she turned her attention to Capri. "Hey, tell you what, I'll show you my relaxation room! Lupe, come on, it'll be just our little secret for the three of us," she joked. The "relaxation room" was literally just a room full of pillows that some of the little pack used during full moon, it was comfier to sleep in than a hard floor.

-----

The moment Phelan gave the word, a very large white wolf - even for a werewolf, she was very damn big - started back for the warehouse, sniffing around and catching the trail of the vampire... and a human? Lenora narrowed her eyes as she grabbed her clothes from where she'd left them after changing back, pulling on the jeans, black t-shirt and plaid jacket as she straightened up. "I've smelled this one before in town at the auto shop. He's not local." Lenora took another deep sniff and kept walking. "Human with him, girl, smells like coffee?"

-----

Dale turned his head, hearing movement in the distance, and he got up from his crouch, casually sticking his hands in his pockets. "Kiki, you should go on ahead," he said simply, taking a step back.

The brunette turned around where she was getting ready to climb a fence, frowning at him. "What are you talking about!? I can't climb this without your help!"

"She won't respond well to me. You know that." He cleared his throat. "I'll be waiting for you in this general direction."

Kiki stared at him. "... God, why are you such a damn weirdo," she grumbled, climbing the fence with immense difficulty and dropping down on the other side.

"Damn, ain't you a party pooper? Well, Sorry, sweet cheeks, but I'm not gonna let you spoil my fun," he said before moving to get around her.

~

There was another white wolf inside, this one far smaller. She, however, was not just white, but albino, with eyes that looked to be violet due to being a slightly transparent blue. She shifted to her human form, that of a wiry platinum blonde girl, and followed the other. Oh, boy! There hadn't been so much excitement in one night for a long, long time! She hoped it wasn't over in one day, no, siree Bob! She lived for excitement.

Just at that moment, Dolph appeared, to stand next to Larentia who was scowling with fury at the intruder. Over six feet tall, with wiry muscles, he was a far more intimidating prospect than Larentia. He glared at Seerian.

"I'm giving you one last chance," he said, in a cool voice that was none the less throbbing with barely contained anger. "Turn round right now, and walk away, or it'll be the worse for you."

Dolph was fully prepared to give out a beating that would make this cheeky human think twice about coming here again. He wasn't afraid of the police; with at least one werewolf on the police force, they tended to turn a blind eye to the goings on at the warehouse. This boy would rue the day that he tried to trespass on werewolf territory.

~~~
In the relaxation room, Lupe threw herself on to a pile of pillows and sighed with relief. "Just feels so damn good," she said with satisfaction. "Capri, you try. Anywhere's good."
~~~

Phelan sent back to Lenora, "We'll make both of them leave. No-one, whether it be vampire or human, is permitted on our land."

He caught a whiff of a familiar scent, recognising it as his sister. Rolling his eyes, he headed to intercept the human and the vampire. Reconsidering his immediate thought of asking her to stay away, Phelan just shrugged. The more the merrier, especially when it came to vampires. It was for this reason that when he noticed Raksha following himself and Lenora, he didn't ask the girl to go back. Besides, Raksha might only be thirteen years old, but she was the foster daughter of the alphas, and he could hardly leave her alone or send her to her foster mother alone. It would be best to have her come with them, at least for the moment. His sister would make sure that Raksha didn't come to harm.

~~~
Raksha, a thin girl with skin the colour of honey, amber eyes and black hair, was hugging herself with excitement. This was a lot better than staying behind, besides, she didn't know exactly where her foster parents were at this precise moment and wasn't about to wander round on her own looking for them.
Sinopa stayed out of the relaxing room for a moment, glancing around. "...shit!" She bit her lip, grabbing the frame of the door for a moment. How did she keep losing track of Raksha?! "Lupe, keep her company, I'll find us some snacks," Sinopa said cheerily, though the expression on her face was anything but - and Capri noticed as she flopped into a thick pile of blankets that had been wadded up into a nest of sorts.
"Is she okay?" Capri asked nervously. "Kiki gets that look on her face when she's really worried about me."
Sinopa stepped away from the room and took a deep breath, trying not to panic. Their foster daughter was prone to wandering - most children in a pack did that - but right now, this was the worst time. "Has anyone seen Raksha?"
-----
Lenora just raised an eyebrow but shrugged - the human she wasn't too bothered by, but the vampire needed to get out. Lenora spotted him making his way through the bushes and stopped a few yards in front of him, growling under her breath as she stepped closer. "This is our place. Leave."
"Well, you're blocking my exit." Dale pointed past her.
"Why are you here? Are you spying for the clan in the mansion?" Lenora snapped.
"... clan in the-" Dale's eyes widened. "Oh no, hell no, I am not stepping into a grudge-filled shit pile."
"Then grab your human thrall and leave. Where is she? I can smell her."
Dale glanced behind him, then back at Lenora. "She's looking for her sister, someone might have brought her here. I tried to stop her from investigating but she doesn't listen to me. Neither of them do," he admitted.
"Good. You're a vampire, they'd be smart to leave you in the sun come morning." Lenora circled around Dale and he did the same, keeping his eyes on her. He could hear another werewolf - maybe more than one, there were a lot of noises and some words being said in front of the warehouse.
"I assure you, I haven't harmed them, I don't have any power over them, stranger."
"Lying," Lenora snapped. "I smell her on you."
"Considering she was a sobbing mess because we couldn't find her sister, no shit, sherlock." Dale's infinite patience was wearing thin - Lenora reminded him too much of his old lover and it stung to hell.
Seerian took an actual step back as Dolph appeared. "Damn, what is this, a gang hideout?" he blurted without thinking.
~
Takaia heard the call just as she saw Raksha, and quietly followed the girl. She wasn't going to spoil her fun -she understood her leaving, even- but was now determined to at least keep her safe. Vamps were definitely no joke.
Dolph laughed scornfully. "My, my, haven't you got quite the imagination, boy?" he replied. "Just take it as read that you are firstly not welcome here, and secondly, turn right round and leave. Cuz if you don't, the next place you see might well be the inside of an ambulance."
~~~

"I'm sure everything's cool," Lupe said, soothingly. "Sinopa's just such a worrier."

Sinopa started to step out of the warehouse when she sniffed, getting a good whiff of coffee that hadn't been there before. She turned, seeing Kiki squeeze through a mostly blocked door. "Who are you?" Sinopa snapped, starting to walk over to her. "Get out."

"I'm just looking for my sister, she's not well-" Kiki yelped as Sinopa slammed a hand against the door behind her, effectively pinning her between the door and herself.

"Then why are you skulking around, trespassing?"

Kiki looked up at Sinopa, tears in her eyes. "Because I heard there was a gang here and I was scared, for fuck's sake.

-----

Capri sat up when she heard the commotion in the common room. "What was that?"

-----

Dale glanced over Lenora's head, seeing a smaller werewolf girl followed by one that was astonishingly pale. "Trying to gang up on me?"

"Stay away from her. From us." Lenora snarled, baring her teeth.

"I was already leaving. You're blocking me, you know."

Seerian rubbed the back of his neck. "Okay, okay, jeez. But I know y'all are hiding something, and, someday, I'mma find out," he said, green eyes flashing determination and an undertone of fear. He backed away, looked at the pair one more time, then made his way back to the hole in the fence.

Gang? Maybe, but there were no tattoos visible, and they both seemed unaffected by the chill of the night. Something was fishy, and he wanted to know now more than ever.

Raksha watched what was going on, eyes wide. She was hoping that no-one would turn up to spoil what promised to be a good show. As the youngest 'wolf in the pack, she thought that she never got to have any fun.

~~~
Dolph watched the intruder retreat, then turned to Larentia. "We might have to deal with that one," he said. "Pity. I don't like to attract attention to ourselves, but if we allow that interfering human to keep on bothering us, others will get curious and follow him."
Larentia nodded. "Perhaps we could send one of the others who the human didn't see to try and warn him off," she replied. "Make out that there's nothing at all interesting here at all. If he stops thinking that there's something exciting about our land, he'll get bored and stop coming here. Humans are like that; very short attention spans."
"Good idea," Dolph said. "Just to make sure that the human is gone, and that there are no other intruders, come with me. We will make a patrol of our perimeters, just in case."
The two walked off together.
Sinopa glanced back at the comfortable den room, seeing Capri peek her head out. Then Sinopa stared, stunned, at the blond twin before turning back to the other intruder. "Get out of here," Sinopa snarled at Kiki. "You aren't welcome here!" it didn't matter to the overprotective pack leader that this was Capri's sister. She hadn't been invited here.
Capri gasped, seeing her sister. "Kiki! Sinopa, wait, just let me talk to my sister!"
Sinopa looked back at her. "You said you came here to get away from her." Her voice was hard, angry. Worse yet: Sinopa smelled the faintest trace of a vampire on this other girl. Dolph, warehouse, common area, now.
-----
Dale continued to try to widen the space between himself and Lenora, though he was impeded by the sight of the younger werewolf and of the smell of a human fleeing the warehouse. Not Kiki, the boy from earlier. Idiot! "Just let me leave and I will never be back. I want nothing to do with your petty squabbles."
"Petty!!" Lenora almost spat the word. "This pack has suffered more than you can ever imagine, bloodsucker!"
Seerian cut across town, back home. Maybe he ought to 'borrow' a drone, see if that would have better luck. If there was one thing Sean O'Reilly was known for, it was determinedly sticking his nose into trouble.
~
Takaia snorted at that. "Sassy, ain't he?" she murmured, looking at Dale. "Let him go; we gave him the warning. He's not from those other leeches, the local ones, at least."
~
Claudius Harlow decided now was the time to call together the Council of Elders. It had been far too long that their kind had been banished to shadows, hiding in plain sight from the inferior prey. But he had been laying bricks for yeas, and now was the time to finish the foundation and start the dawning of a new era. Or, he thought, perhaps he ought to call it the sunset of a new night, one in which the vampires took their rightful place at the very top of society, and finally dominated mankind. The time was right, for no one really believed in them any more, and a lot of the useful lore was long forgotten; all was lost in confusing and conflicting tales.
He mused over wording as he wrote on a paper to gather his thoughts before calling on the others. He knew he would only have one chance to lay out his evidence and gather support, and he needed to do it just right.
Dolph caught the message and growled in annoyance. "Come with me, Larentia," he said to the other werewolf. "It seems that there is more trouble inside." She nodded and followed her pack leader as he ran towards the common area. Dolph was raging as he ran; all he ever wanted was for the pack to be left in peace but sometimes, it seemed that that was just too much to ask!
~~~

"And just how do we know that you won't leave just to gather more of your undead friends and return?" Phelan spat at Dale. "We should kill you now, to make sure that you don't." He picked up a stick from the ground and sharpened the end of it to a point using his knife.

Sinopa made Kiki sit on the floor, and kept Capri behind her despite the weaker girl's continued struggle to get to her sister. "Just- Leave her alone! She was just worried about me!" Capri insisted, starting to panic.

The werewolf said nothing, just turned her head when she heard the other pack leader's steps. "Lupe brought the blond here. This one snuck in." The brown-haired one smells like a vampire. Not like other vampires from here, though.

----

"Because I have none, if you'd taken half a second to listen to me," Dale snapped. He was, finally, starting to lose his patience. He glanced at the impromptu stake, grimacing, his arm bumping against a tree as he backed away more.

Lenora sniffed the air, narrowing her eyes and tilting her head. Wait a moment... She approached Dale cautiously, not flinching when he held up a hand to keep her away. Instead, she sniffed him again, determined to figure out what it was she smelled. Or, rather, what she wasn't. Dale looked confused and mildly alarmed but stayed still, not wanting her to attack and not wanting the others to attack either.

"He doesn't smell like them. At all. Of any of them." Lenoa's tone was confused - but at least her concern was mildly abated, for now.

Takaia sometimes felt that Phelan was a little too aggressive- but that was his job, wasn't it? She held back her tongue, knowing nobody really listened to her anyway, as she wasn't really that high-ranking in the pack. She would join the pack if it came to a fight, but she personally didn't think the leech smelled aggressive. If anything, he smelled wary, but not fight-or-flight desperate yet.

A caregiving sort by nature, one that liked the cubs and younglings, she was perhaps too fond of giving chances. But what was life worth without a little kindness? It was why she wasn't usually on the 'welcoming' committee... oops. It was actually a wonder her curiosity wasn't being punished. Eh, maybe it would be later, who knows?

Still, her sugar-sweet heart couldn't stand the thought of an innocent, even a frickin' leech, being staked over a simple territory dispute. "Yeah, I thought so! He doesn't smell funky, like sour milk. He smells more like a lemon left out in the sun for a while, y'know? I think- I think this whole thing was a... weird accident?" She flinched even as she said it, ever a submissive to the stronger ones within the pack.

-

The centuries have come and gone, and our infamy was lost to the passing of time. The mortal mind is weak, unstable, unable to hold on to the truth that was once before them. We live in shadows, watching the world through dusty panes, sneaking our due in unlit alleys from unsavory specimens. But I say, brethren, the mortals learn anew what caused them to fear the night in the firstplace.

But lest you think I mean a coup, I say wait; wait, and listen. The seeds have been sown for a method far slower, but far more thorough. Come, come and see what the future holds for us. Three weeks hence, the night of the new moon, at three in the morning, let us meet and discuss the beginning of a new age. We will reclaim our right to rule this pitiful, polluted world, and set all aright once again. The plans are made, the seeds are sown, but I need hands for the reaping.
