Rules:

1. This RP is rated M; this means that it's only for age 16 and over, due to its theme.

2. Obey the main forum rules.

3. No Mary Sues or Gary Stus. Or I will hit you.

4. Absolutely NO TWILIGHT VAMPIRES. I mean it; anyone who tries to sign up with a Meyerpire will be kicked from the RP. The vampires in this RP resemble Night World Vampires; for more information click here: Night World - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Everything in the basic description fits; however, these vampires if made can change humans; and if born, they don't age past twenty. Any questions, just PM me.

5. Please don't all sign up as vampires; there needs to be human characters too. If you like, you can sign up one vampire and one human. If there are too many of one group, you may be told to revise your character. Regarding werewolves; please PM me if you wish to sign up as a werewolf as there are only a few of them and I do not want loads of werewolf characters.

Up on a hilltop in the midst of a lonely town, is an old mansion that has stood for as long as the townspeople can remember. No-one knows when it was built, or even who built it; it is just something that has always been there, now and forever. Most of the people in the town ignore the mansion and its occupants save when they emerge and come down to the town; they are mostly ignorant of the evil in their midst. However, there are a core few who know of the secret that lies within the mansion, of the family of vampires that live there and who prey not only on the townspeople, but also among the neighbouring districts. Not all are related by blood; some are only part of the family cuz they have lived there for centuries so were accepted into the clan. They are careful tho; they only kill when necessary and the attacks remain a mystery among most humans. The few who know the secret of the vampire clan know different tho; they want nothing more than the destruction finally of the vampire clan.

However, it will not be easy to destroy them. As well as those who are members of the same family, who reside within the mansion walls, there are a few hangers on who live alongside them. Some are fledgelings; vampires made by the clan as friends or lovers. Others simply latched on to the mansion as a reaction to constant wandering. The clan is growing decade by decade and now believes itself unstoppable. Not least cuz there are still many preconceptions that exist about vampires, even in the modern world. For example, that the sun can destroy them, or that they can be killed by garlic. Neither are true; however, wood is poison to vampires; the legend about the stake thru the heart is the only one that still rings true. The few humans who know of the vampire clan need to discover this knowledge before it's too late, and what they are hunting turns on them.

Among the clan too, there is danger. Some of the vampire family resent the newcomers; the made vampires who reside alongside them. Others will protect their fledgelings, even against their own family members. Some have guilty secrets which must be protected against; the love for a human, for example, or even for a werewolf. For there was at one point a werewolf pack living alongside the vampire clan; however, nearly all of the 'wolves were exterminated. Of that original pack, none survive; however, there are a few descendants still living in and around the town. Perhaps they yearn for revenge; after all, grudges can survive centuries. The werewolves plot to build up their pack once more, either the normal way, or from biting humans and compelling them to join. There has been an ageold war between the vampires and werewolves for centuries, with no end in sight.

Character form:

When filling out the form, include a personality description in your bio.

Name:
Age:
Appearence:
Short Bio:

~~~
Name: Perdita Redfern
Age: Actual age, 400. Appears 19
Appearence: Long blonde hair, silvery blue eyes, average height
Short Bio: Perdita is neither the eldest or youngest daughter in the clan. She tries to prey on humans who are wicked; ie, rapists, murderers, pickpockets. She falls in love with Flynn for who he is, however at all times there hangs over her the fear for when the clan finds out, which they surely must do eventually. No secrets can be kept in the clan. Perdita has a tendency to be impulsive; she can also be alarmingly selfish, persuing her own agenda. She is also vain as well too fond of luxury. She would never entertain the idea of leaving her home to be with Flynn as she loves living in rich surroundings.
Name: Flynn Blake
Age: 16
Appearence: Dark blonde hair, blue eyes. Average height and build
Short Bio: Flynn grew up in a children's home. He ran away from it at the age of twelve cuz the new superintendant was a pedophile. He now survives mostly on the streets of the town, stealing to stay alive. He ran into Perdita while she was hunting; somehow, they ended up as lovers rather than as predator and prey. Flynn was brave enough to put aside the danger and remain with Perdita against the odds. However, he never considers the future and can be immature at times.
Name: Dolph
Age: Looks to be in his mid twenties, but is actually a few centuries old
Appearence: Longish white blonde hair, amber eyes, average height and build
Short Bio: Dolph leads the local werewolf pack and is one of only two males in the pack; the rest are females. Dolph was born a werewolf and was part of the pack when the werewolves battled the vampires. Half the pack were killed and only recently has the pack built up itself to a respectable number once more. They live in an abandoned warehouse in the town, and mainly hunt in the park or by the river, and also scavenge in the town. Dolph hates vampires for what the clan did to his people, and dreams of the pack once again becoming powerful. He wants to build up the numbers so they can become a force to be recognised. He is ambitious, but has toned down his recklessness a lot since the old days. Dolph has already added one new member to the pack recently, a girl named Lupe.
Name: Lupe
Age: 15
Appearence: Long wavy chestnut hair, with green eyes and pale skin sprinkled with freckles. Lupe is petite and slim with a boyish build.
Short Bio: Lupe ran away from home two years ago, after her new stepfather made advances towards her. Her mother has always been cold towards her, so Lupe feared that if she told her mother what had happened, she would not be believed. Lupe lived rough for a year on the streets before she met with some of the werewolves. They found her to be willing enough to join, so Lupe was taken to see Dolph, who turned her. Lupe now lives for the pack, and has no wish to return to her old life as a human.
~~~

At the dead of night, a figure stole out from the old mansion at the top of the hill. The figure was wrapped in a cloak, with a scarf obscuring her face. Any watcher from the mansion would have been completely in ignorance of who this was.

Perdita crept quietly on light feet thru the gardens at the front of the mansion. She carried no light, but that didn't matter; her vampire eyes could see in darkness that a human would have found impossible without a torch. She looked behind her fearfully, altho there was no pursuit. Maybe it just was cuz of the enormity of what she was doing; going to meet her lover was one thing, but it was who her lover was that her clan would never forgive if they ever found out about him.

Perdita left the mansion grounds and melted into the moonless night.

~~~
A boy waited in the town centre, leaning against an old statue that, as long as he could remember, had always been there. The writing on the statue's plinth that stated who this man was was worn away with time, and now no-one knew. No-one human, that is; but Flynn was sure the vampires on the hill knew. Not that he'd ever get the chance to ask them; the only one he cared about was Perdita, and on the times they met up, talking was the last thing on their mind.
Flynn was torn in two over Perdita; on one hand, he loved her a lot; on the other hand, there was always the danger of the clan finding out and killing him. Flynn loved the thrill; he didn't even consider the danger. He looked up as she walked towards him, removing her scarf as she did so. And then there were no words, and no more thinking as they met in a strong embrace, kissing with passion and not caring if anyone witnessed it.
Name: Claudius Harlow
Age: exact age unknown, appears to be about forty
Appearance: Tall, lean, with dark hair and dark eyes. Clean and well-kept.
Short Bio: Claudius Harlow is one of the oldest members of the Clan, and easily so. It is purported he was among the founding members, but any such questions of the sort go unanswered. He is a strict traditionalist, and holds all those in his acquaintance to a high standard.
Name: Rebeccanne Harlow
Age: about 350, appears 18
Appearance: Rebeccanne is, like her grandfather before her, tall and thin with long dark hair and dark eyes. She dresses in simple black clothing not because she holds to any social group, but because she feels that to dress in anything more lively would, in fact, encourage people to engage her in conversation. And, as an extreme introvert, she only wanted a select few to do that.
Short Bio: Rebeccanne was born and raised in accordance with the typical strict guidelines of any Harlow by her whole family, but found one small way in which to rebel: art. She has a fascination with the inner workings of things, from the living to the mechanical, and creates visual representations of them. Her art is often disturbing as it is thought-provoking, which is just how she likes it.
Name: Sean "Seerian" O'Reilly
Age: 16
Appearance: a reedy thin redhead in punk clothing. His mohawk is dyed black, but the shaved sides of his head are left a rusty orange. His face is all angles and freckles, his eyes a clear blue.
Short Bio: Sean O'Reilly was born to a very strict Catholic family, one that gave him no sympathy or much-needed help for his bi-polar or ADHD. As such, he is growing up into quite the rebel, adopting Satanist symbols to alarm his mother and taking the youngest of their family, Joel, under his wing. He aspires to get away as soon as it's legal, or maybe even before, and only staying in contact with his oldest brother Connor, and Joel.
Name: Connor O'Reilly
Age: 21
Appearance: Where his little brother is all bones, Connor is all muscle. And some fat, as he is no shallow bodybuilder, but can actually use his muscle. He tends to wear whatever he can find that fits. His face is round, as is his nose, his head a mess of red-brown curls, and has dark blue eyes.
Short Bio: As the oldest of the O'Reilly brood, Connor has tried to mitigate, and has tuned out to be a better mother than their actual mother. Despite being of age and having a job, Connor has yet to move out, as he feels it his duty to remain and keep watch over his younger siblings. His mother, he knows, likes to play favorites, likes to antagonize, and just otherwise emotionally abuse. He dreams to be a chef, but doubts it will ever happen.
At long last, she could step back and look at her latest work. She tilted her head, taking in every detail. The feathers caught the low light and almost seemed to shimmer. The way the sculpture's form twisted round and round made it seem to writhe, and the use of raven feathers made it unnerving at best. She smiled to herself, proud of this new work, and certain she would make more of its kind.
It was then the door to what she had appropriated as her studio opened, admitting her grandfather. Well, technically, he was her great-grandfather; her grandfather was actually Walter, but who was keeping track? "Rebeccanne," he greeted softly, his sharp eyes flicking right past her art.
She turned to face him fully. "Grandfather," she replied softly, confident he would get to the point soon enough without her prompting.
She was right, as he stepped in and shut the door. "My dear, sweet grand-daughter, might I ask a favor of you?" She tilted her head at him. He began to slowly walk the room. "I've no proof, but I do believe someone among us has been making... excursions... that are not for hunting. I know not who, nor when. I have simply been around long enough to note a slight change in the atmosphere, particularly around those of your... generation."
"Your favor?" she asked.
"To keep a close watch on the younger vampires, to find this deviant and report back to me," he said, turning to face her once more with his hands behind his back.
She snorted. "I'm not the most social of our generation, grandfather. Why me?"
His eyes glittered in the light, hard and cold as onyx. "You are the only one I trust completely, Rebeccanne." Silence descended after that as she blinked at him, her own dark eyes flat as she considered.
"Fine," she said after a moment.
He grinned and placed an elegant white hand on her shoulder. "Excellent." He gave it a light squeeze, then turned to leave. She watched him go, arms crossing. Though she didn't mind mingling every now and again, he was requiring her to actively do so. How tiring.
~
"I don't know how you do it," Seerian spun so he was looking at Connor, who stood leaning against the wall.
"Do what?" the bigger man asked.
"Stay here! Soon as I turn eighteen, I'm leavin', and I'm takin' Joel with me!" he declared in a huff. He plopped back into his chair.
Connor sighed and approached. "I stay because I'm needed," he said. "I can't leave you all to be with her."
"How the Hell didja turn out so stable?" Seerian asked, wearing a somewhat petulant frown.
Connor rubbed the back of his head. "Dad was actually around when I was little. That made a big difference."
Seerian snorted. "Yeah, now the bitch is unstoppable... I bought that guitar with my own money!" he raged and kicked the desk in front of him, howling in pain when he only succeeded in stubbing his toe.
Connor sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Sean? Forget your homework for now-"
"Seerian!" the teen insisted.
"Right. Seerian, how about I take you out somewhere, or something? It's only a Thursday, but... I think you need it," Connor said.
"Can ya get me into that new horror film?" he brightened instantly, turning to Connor, blue eyes wide.
Connor chuckled. "Sure. I hate that stuff, but I can stomach it this once."
Seerian whirled to get his shoes back on, and Connor put his own on at a more relaxed pace. They both donned their jackets and crept down the stairs and outside, where Seerian lead the way to the local theater with an eager bounce to every step.
Name: Sinopa
Age: Seems mid-twenties, nearly two hundred
Appearance: Olive skin, average height and long black hair with bright blue-green eyes. She has a myriad of facial piercings ranging from a lip ring, nose ring, eyebrow rings, to a tongue stud and earrings on both ears. She originally had snake bites but a bad tussle with another werewolf (there was a dumb fight, she doesn't like talking about it) she's only got one, though she has a faint scar in her lip where the other ring had been torn out. Her wolf form has sleek black fur.
Short Bio: Sinopa has been with the pack for most of her long life (was bitten), and she can't imagine another life. Her loneliness however keeps her from forming too many bonds with the other pack, especially after her mate was killed in the old battles. She's fond enough of Lupe but she worries about Dolph, even though he's calmed down considerably since he was young.
Name: Dale Seraf
Age: 334, appears 25
Appearance: Very tall, Dale is an imposing figure from most angles. Muscular from decades of working on cars, keeps his hair buzzed short, has eyes darker brown than dirt. He has many tattoos, mostly done in black ink, that look vaguely mystical in nature, except for one across his upper back in white - a large, white owl with wings spread out.
Short Bio: Dale, his old name forgotten, was turned to the side of vampires when he was on a slave ship to the new world. On arrival, he and the other vampires on the boat escaped, soon turning to traveling the world. He has a fondness for studying old arcane legends and many of his tattoos come from those studies even if most of it is bunk. The last hundred or so years of his life have been spent as a mechanic and welder for various auto shops - natural strength as a vampire notwithstanding, he does make some attempt at "working out" to maintain an image of normalcy. He also spent time as a drummer for a rock band at one point.
Name: Katrina "Kiki" Lewis
Age: 22
Appearance: Very slim, with short brown hair in a pixie style (which she hates). She wears colored contacts, as she and her sister both have heterochromia with one eye blue, one eye brown. What she lacks in physical strength she more than makes up for in mental stability - with everything she's been through and seen, she's a veritable rock.
Short Bio: Kiki has spent the better part of the last five years being dragged around by her younger twin, Capri, and her twin's less-than-legal drag racing group. But along the way, she found solace in music... and managed to fall in love. But that love fell short, and Kiki lost her in a crash. Her girlfriend's ... ex-boyfriend, Kiki has never been sure, Dale was able to get her and her sister away from the gang, but for how long that lasts, she doesn't know and doesn't want to think about it.
Name: Capria "Capri" Lewis
Age: 22
Appearance: Slim like her sister but with some more muscle mass from being the mechanic and engineer for her boyfriend's car gang. Her hair is long and dyed platinum blond (but her roots are showing by about four inches, as she doesn't take very good care of herself), and shares the different eye colors with her identical twin - but she, herself, doesn't mind the funny looks and constant questions so doesn't hide them. She's a recovering drug addict (don't ask which ones - there were a lot of drugs) and it shows in how little she eats and how little she goes outside. She feels incredible guilt over her sister's girlfriend dying in the car crash and is frequently a shaky, crying mess hiding in her room. She's very pale as a result of not seeing much sun.
Short Bio: Capria became involved with a one Jan Aras in their hometown, a young man like herself who loved cars and wanted to one day attend university to pursue a career in making cars bigger, better, and faster... until she was dragged into his older brother's car gang kicking and screaming. Unbeknownst to the twins, the Aras family was a mishmash of vampires from disparate clans and Capri was one they wanted to join the family until her drug addiction ruined her in their eyes.
Name: Antoinette "Toni" Casper
Age: 200, looks 21
Appearance: Toni is nearly as tall as her on-off lover Dale, who clips about five inches taller than her at 6'8", and has longish red hair sidecut on the right (with the fuzz being a dark brown). Her myriad of tattoos that she herself has more relevance to modern times, punk bands, and popular culture - with one particularly large tattoo on her back being a TARDIS in flight through a Van Gogh painting. This tattoo is marred by scars from a vicious car crash during an attempted rescue of her girlfriend, Kiki. She has very sharp blue eyes and olive skin, and many piercings ranging from snakebites and a tongue stud to hoops, industrials, and eyebrow rings.
Short Bio: Toni is a werewolf, born into the life of a protector more than a wild child like her mother's upbringing. Her father raised her to watch over the small towns they lived near, which was highly unusual for many. Her wanderlust eventually brought her to a small town where she met Dale - while her home had a few vampires, she'd never seen a need to hate them, though she'd grow to be annoyed by his lazy attitude toward life. The two were in a triad of musicians called the Lords of Time with a human as their mixer and electronic expert. Said human is still alive and avoiding the two at all costs. Toni is currently nowhere near the town, still searching for Kiki and Dale (who promised to keep the two safe for her if anything happened to her during the initial rescue).
Dale, Kiki, and Capri moved to town a few weeks ago, and while Kiki has a part-time job at a coffeeshop and Dale does work out of the local auto shop, none of them have really gotten out much, wanting to stay out of sight. Capri doesn't leave the house except in fits of fright and withdrawal.
-----
"Capri?" Kiki pressed her ear against the door, hearing nothing but silence. Dale was leaning against the wall behind her, listening too and already knowing what was going on in the room - Capri had escaped through her bedroom window again. He could always hear her when she got out, but he knew she needed space. Kiki was trying desperately to patch their relationship, she tended to force interaction a little too much.
"You know she's gone again." Dale didn't react at the dirty look she threw him, pulling out a small lockpicking set to open the locked bedroom door. She'd picked up a few of her own tricks on her free time.
Kiki swore out loud when she saw he was right and she laced her hands in her hair, hiding her face in her arms a bit with the motion as she let out a breath. "I just want her to stay home and not go out and find more drugs."
"She never gets too far. Come on, let's go out and start looking. I can find her no problem." Dale put a hand on her shoulder. "The hair makes her stand out," he joked, though finding her by smell was far easier... not that he'd ever told the two what he was.
"Fine." Kiki sighed, turning and walking out the door. Her sister was her one, sore, weak point.
--
Capri sat down in an alleyway, arms wrapped tightly around her waist as she tried to control her breathing. She'd just run, and run, and run once she'd gotten out of her room. She swallowed hard, looking up and out of the alleyway. She was near a theater, she knew that much, but she'd just been blindly bolting through the town. Her head rested against the wall as she rubbed an arm through her - Jan's - leather jacket, feeling a painful shiver wrack her body as sweat ran down her face. She felt so, so damn sick but she couldn't fix it. Not the way she used to. No, she had to suck it up and... just... pretend it wasn't from what it was really from, she thought with a whine, hitting her head against the wall.
She shut her eyes, just focusing on her breathing as she half-hid behind a trash can.
Lupe waited in the shadows outside the warehouse where the werewolves lived, until her heightened senses told her that the coast was clear. Then she casually walked out and began walking down the road to the town. Lupe strolled along, enjoying the way that the moon hung in the sky like a giant white lamp, and the rustles that spoke of small animals going about their business in the bushes by the pavement. Lupe had only been a werewolf for a short time, but she had no regrets and no wish to return to her life as a human. Everything was just so much better; the moon was larger, like an alien spacecraft, throbbing with light and making everything lit up as bright as day, but in shades of grey. She could see everything and hear it, and even smell it, ten times better.
She was at this moment walking towards the theatre, hoping to be able to snatch a purse or two from the masses going in and out. Lupe had lived this way ever since she had run away from home. Sometimes she missed her old home, but now, she had a new one and a new and better family to live with. Walking thru the alleyway next to the theatre, a small sound caught Lupe's notice and she swung round at once. A girl, half hidden behind a dustbin, was there, eyes closed and breathing loudly. It was the sound of the breathing that Lupe had heard, altho a human wouldn't have noticed it, the breathing seemed very loud to Lupe there in the alleyway. She walked up to where the girl was and asked her, "Are you OK?"
The two brothers walked side-by-side down the street. Well, Seerian was almost skipping. He had a bounce to his step, a sure sign Connor had prevented him from falling into one of his black moods, which could be dangerous to both other people and to the teen himself. It was as they were walking past the final alley right beside the theater that Seerian froze after hearing a feminine voice ask, "Are you Ok?" Unable to stay his curiosity, he backed up past and then around Connor and peered around the wall to take a look down the alley.
Connor resisted the urge to groan at his brother's impulsive behavior, and missed the chance to hold him back. Feeling responsible for whatever Seerian did, he followed and peeked a little as well, anticipating trouble.
Capria's eyes snapped open at the voice and she stared up at this stranger's face, her breathing stopping as she froze in fear. "..." When she realized it was just... just a person, not a drug-withdrawal hallucination like so many she'd had already, she let out a short cough and nodded, rubbing her face with the heel of a palm. "I'm fine. I-I was out for a run and overdid it." Capria was hardly dressed for an evening run - leather jacket, short denim shorts and a white tanktop with old motor oil stains. "Got into a stupid fight with my sister, needed to clear my head." That wasn't a lie - Kiki had asked her to please, please go into the rehab center at the local hospital but Capri was't having any of it. She hated hospitals.
Several blocks down, Dale parked the car and climbed out, passing a glance around and frowning. She'd definitely run down this way but she was still far off. "Kiki, you check down the street and in the theater, I'll go up the other way."
The brunette nodded, starting to walk up the road.
Lupe rolled her eyes. "You don't look fine," she said, bluntly. She sniffed; she could smell something familiar coming off this girl, something she had smelled before whenever she passed drug addicts in the streets. Lupe didn't really care if the girl thought that her sniffing the air was strange; she was only a human and Lupe was a werewolf.
Just as Seerian went to take a step forward to see what was going on, Connor dragged him back.
"Awwww, c'mon, bro, lemme go!" he whined.
"Whatever is happening is none of our business, Sean- Seerian," Connor said, voice low and insistent.
"But she could be in trouble, or somethin," Seerian said.
"And it sounds like she has help," Connor replied. "Let's just go see your movie and leave well enough alone."
"I'm. Fine," Capria ground out through her teeth, forcing herself to her feet. "Just-Just buzz off and leave me alone, I don't need anyone else telling me there's something wrong with me."
Kiki stopped across the street from the theater, looking down a different alleyway as she peered around for her sister. She turned her head, seeing the two brothers apparently arguing and looked a little confused... but she didn't know anyone around here enough to ask if things were alright.
Capria turned to step out of the alleyway and saw her sister across the street, and froze in place, audibly letting out a whine. She didn't want to go back to the house!
"Something is wrong, I know it," Lupe replied, softly. She saw Capria freeze, and laid a hand on her shoulder. "I understand things better than you think. You don't want to go to that person across the street. So, come with me. I'll take you someplace else where it's peaceful."
The two didn't even notice the newcomer; though night like this weren't as busy as, say, a Friday, there were a few other people. As such, they paid her no mind- until Connor almost ran into her when all but dragging his brother to the theatre. "Oh, I'm so sorry," he said.
Kiki let out a grunt of surprise and stepped away a bit from the bump, looking at Connor in some minor annoyance but nothing too angry. "I-It's fine, I'm not paying attention. Maybe you could help me?" She rubbed the back of her head. "I'm trying to find my sister, we just moved here a little while ago and I'm worried she's gotten lost. She isn't well. She.. Well, we're identical twins but her hair is blond. White-blond."
Capri tensed up at the hand on her shoulder and yanked herself away, crossing her arms tightly over her midsection and looking back at Lupe. "D-don't touch me." She bit her lip though, glancing out at her sister talking to two young guys before looking at Lupe and just nodding mutely. "Just-Just please don't touch me, I don't like people- people touching me," she said faintly.
"I won't, don't worry, nor do I," Lupe said. She led Capri out the other end of the alleyway. It was dark with no streetlights, but Lupe could see fine by the light of the moon and stars. She walked in silence, turning her head to catch the noises of the night and listen out for danger. Eventually, they arrived at the park. While the wolves sometimes hunted here, Lupe was sure that they wouldn't come to this side, as the lake where the waterfowl lived was on the other side. She indicated a bench by a flower bed.
"We can sit here awhile," she said.
Connor looked sympathetic and Seerian hopped forward. "There was a girl hiding in an alley just by here! I think she was sick," he said.
Connor nodded. "Someone was trying to offer her some help, though. It hasn't been long, they might still be there."
Kiki's eyes widened and she bolted past them, stopping at the mouth of the alley... which was now empty. Her shoulders slumped and she let out an exhausted sigh, rubbing her face. "Damn it, Capri." She looked back at the two. "Thank you for trying. She- We got into a stupid fight. She um, she's always sick in one way or another, always has been."
----
As Lupe lead the way, Capri followed in equal silence punctuated by quiet sniffles and small frightened noises when she thought she heard something nearby. Once they were at the park, though, she sat down on the grass in front of the bench and just let her head rest against it as she tried to relax. "Th-Thanks. I- um, it's not that I can't- She-She's my sister, I just-" Capria forced herself to take a deep breath before she continued, "She wants me to go to rehab and I can't handle going into hospitals, they-they scare me so bad. I-I can deal with the withdrawal, it just-just hurts and it's scary and-and I always feel sick. That's all."
"I'm sure that there's something that can help you," Lupe said. "I had problems up to about a year ago and I found something that fixed them forever. Maybe I can work something out for you."
"You're new around here? Maybe we can help!" Seerian said.
Connor blinked. "I suppose we can, I don't know where she could-"
"Ehhh, there are a few good hiding spots round town, and a few places people just always avoid. If she doesn't know about any of them, she might go to one of them," Seerian insisted.
"Really?" Kiki looked surprised and she smiled thankfully. "Thank you so much. Please, show me where! I-I can't offer much as thanks but I work at that coffee place that opened up a little while ago, is free coffee okay?"
-----
Capria flinched a bit at the mention of any kind of help. "The-The last time someone tried to help me, my sister's girlfriend died. I-I know that sounds really extreme but I'd rather not." She took a deep breath and held it for a few seconds before exhaling slowly. "I just... I need a few hours outside. Out in fresh air. It helps me think. I do like being outside. And... and I understand why she wants me to stay indoors, because she's afraid I'll relapse." She froze a bit, hearing something in the bushes and she turned her head. "What was that?"
Lupe turned slightly and sniffed. A whiff came to her nostrils, that of another werewolf from her pack. In fact, it was the alpha of her pack, Dolph.
"No need to worry," Lupe said. "They won't bother us." She mentally communicated with Dolph.
Don't come any closer, Dolph. This girl is kinda jumpy as it is, and the last thing she needs right now is to see a wolf!
Why are you with her? Do you think that she could be an addition to the pack?
Hey, she needed help. Maybe she might, but I don't think that now's the time to tell her that werewolves are real and not just made up.
As long as you're sure... humans can be tricky. I'll lead the others away to the lake, and leave you alone. Just call if you need any help.
Will do.
Lupe broke the connection; she could hear Dolph in his wolf form quickly slinking away and she relaxed, turning to Capri.
"Probably a mouse or rabbit or something like that," she said, brightly. "Anyway, it's gone now. We can stay out here all night if you want to; it's a good place to chill and just forget the world."
Seerian nodded and smiled. "Heck yeah! Can I get all the fixins, like an iced coffee with mocha and stuff?" He bounced a little. "Anyways... there's a shortcut behind the theatre that leads to the mansion, which is private property, and is said to be haunted. It's also said that those who sneak in never find their way back out." He paused for emphasis, but Connor grumbled something about this not being a horror story, ruining the effect. "....you're a spoilsport, bro. Anyways, there's also the woods by the lake, which has some pretty rabid wild animals. But if you're careful, and stay to the outside, ya won't get too lost. There's also the abandoned warehouse on eighth street, but you have to climb the fence to get in."
"....Seerian, you talk as if you've been in that warehouse," Connor said.
Seerian blushed. "Yeah, well... it looked cool, okay? I got some really badass photos!"
Capria just gave her a funny look - whatever had been in those bushes couldn't have been as small as a rabbit, but... The blond just nodded, settling back against the bench. "I'm okay with just sitting here." She smiled weakly at Lupe. "And...thanks for not judging me."
-----
"Whatever you like, it's on me." Kiki giggled. His description of the mansion made her blink and look skeptical. "Haunted. Really?" She couldn't not chuckle at the two brothers - they reminded her of the way she and her sister used to behave, a bit. "Well, I'm no stranger to climbing into odd buildings, let's give that a go-"
"There you are, Kiki." Dale had stepped from around the corner and stopped next to her, looking at Connor and Seerian with a smile.
"Dale! They said they saw Capri and they might know where she's at. She's either in a haunted mansion," she said it with a teasing tone, but clearly didn't mean anything mean by it, "the woods near the lake, or an abandoned warehouse."
"I think I saw our specific blonde running with another girl to the park. Bit of a walk but we'll get there in time before she runs off, I expect." Dale glanced into the alleyway - he'd noticed a specific smell of specific fuzzy people in town, but he hadn't come this close to running into one before - before looking at Connor and Seerian. "Thank you for your help."
"You're welcome," Lupe replied. "I have had my own problems, so I'd never judge anyone else's. I ran away from home a few years ago, had loads of problems back home. Not any more now; all fixed."
Seerian deflated and looked immediately disappointed. "Just don't go too close to the lake, guys; weird shit happens by the lake."
Connor shrugged. "Never seen anything myself, but I don't tend to wander there."
Capria tilted her head. "What made you leave? Y-You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, obviously," she added nervously.
-----
"What's the matter with the lake?" Kiki asked. Dale just sort of made a face - he had a vague notion of weird shit happening if they got there at the wrong time.
Lupe replied, "Well, that's a long story, but it's no secret so I don't mind telling you. My dad died when I was twelve, and three months later, my mum got married again. My stepfather was a creeper. He kept trying to touch me, and eventually, he came on to me. I was able to fight him off, but I was scared that he'd do it again and I wouldn't be able to stop him. I packed some things and ran away, so that I'd be safe. I moved on every so often, til I came to this town. Now, I'm settled here."
"There's stories of people that appear and disappear outta nowhere, and of rabid beasts," Seerian nodded.
Connor sighed. "The undergrowth is terrible, and going there... you seem to lose all sense of direction. But it's a good place to lose people, if you don't mind getting a little lost yourself for a while. And there's always this feeling of being watched."
"You're a buzzkill, Connor," Seerian pouted. "Tell 'em the interesting stories! Like-!"
Connor cleared his throat. "They're looking for someone, not here for ghost stories."
Capria looked acutely freaked out by her story and had a hand over her mouth. "That's awful! I'm glad you got away. I hope your mother realizes he's a monster." She looked around, wondering something a bit. "Where do you live now?" she asked as she looked back at Lupe.
-----
"Oh, boy. Can't be any worse than losing yourself in a desert." Kiki sighed.
Dale chuckled a bit. "If you want to tell ghost stories, feel free to share. I work at that auto shop up the street from here. I do love a good scary tale." He patted Kiki on the shoulder. "Let's get going to find her, yeah?"
Kiki nodded and smiled at Connor and Seerian. "Thanks again, guys." She stepped past them into the alleyway and Dale followed behind her. Once they were both at the end, Dale pointed in the direction the two had gone, and Dale and Kiki disappeared around the turn.
"Oh, I live at that old warehouse near the river," Lupe said, carelessly. "Lots of us live there. It's like having a whole new family, one where everyone looks out for each other. I finally found someplace where I belong."
Seerian seemed to brighten at the encouragement from Dale. "Will do!"
"Just don't cut class to do it," Connor said softly. "Now, c'mon, we might be able to still make your movie."
Hearing this made Capria... not quite uncomfortable, but internally, it set off some weird alarm. Why would a group of people live out in a warehouse like that? Probably illegally? She glanced at the lake, deeply considering jumping in if only to distract herself from said thoughts. She was being paranoid, she thought, and she knew that, why should she worry? "If you guys are happy, that's cool."
Without two strangers to worry about, Dale was able to direct Kiki subtly toward the path the strange girl and Kiki had taken, soon coming to one of the edges of the park. Kiki looked around, not seeing her sister anywhere on this side, and she started walking forward, calling out into the area for her sister. "Capri! Capri, where are you? Please! It's time to go home!"
Dale called out too, "Capria, it's getting cold out and you don't need to be getting sick again!"
Capria flinched, hearing Dale's much louder voice in the distance, and she sort of scrunched up into a ball on the ground.
