American Aurors

While there is a very large base of the wizarding world centered around London, it is not the only place where Witches and Wizards exist. While they are not as well known, and for good reasons, there is a large base of them in America. These are the people that keep the line between Wizard and Muggle separate.

There are different branches of the American Aurors, seeing that America is a big place this isn’t a surprise. This branch is based on the East Coast, based out of the one and only Salem, Massachusetts. They hide in the one spot where it is known they are.

Why are we here?
We are here to prevent the Muggles from knowing that we live right along-side them. While that actual job goes to the Ministry of Magic, we are the ones responsible for those who think they are above the rules. We are responsible for finding them and making sure that it doesn’t happen again.

Headquarters

The East Coast Aurors are based out of Salem, Massachusetts. The Headquarters consist of only the Aurors, the Ministry is located in the area surrounding the Aurors, although the exact location is known only to the high-ranking officials.

The Headquarters have a multitude of spells cast upon it, including Muggle Repelling charms. The Headquarters is not a huge building, but is not small in contrast. It is in the form of a mansion and the size of a mansion, since it is a mansion.

Each Auror has his/her own office, which is one of the countless number of bedrooms in the mansion. Not all of the Aurors on the East Coast Aurors live and work here, but it is a stopping point for many of them. The majority of the Aurors that live and work here are placed in the New England area. Each room is set up as a bedroom with a bed, desk, bookshelf and closet. Each Auror uses it in a different way, although many of them do spend most of their time at the headquarters and make use of the bedroom style offices.

The Headquarters is easy to find, located on the beach in Salem. The back of the house looks out to the ocean, giving a great view of the water. Various rocks layer the ground before the ocean, making a great place for the Aurors to sit and converse, should they want to. The tides run in and out like clockwork, covering most of the rocks at high tide and leaving much uncovered at low tide.

The Mansion itself is three stories, and a basement, allowing more than enough room for the Aurors like call the Headquarters home. The first floor is the kitchen and library, both stocked with anything and everything an Auror could need and imagine. The second and third floors are the bedrooms and bathrooms. The basement consists of a training area, the only area where spell work is allowed. Many spells are placed upon this basement to allow that to be possible. Since they are placed in a Muggle town, they can’t just walk about using spells and magic as they want. Basic spells are allowed throughout the house, but fighting and advanced spells can only be used in the basement. Anyone who tries to use a spell such as that will find it will not work at all.

Robert was sitting on the rocks behind the mansion that was the Auror Headquarters, not that many of the people around knew that was what it was. While it was a major Headquarters for the American Aurors, it was situated right in the middle of a muggle town, meaning they had to be very careful at all times. It had never been a problem thus far and Robert didn't plan on it being a problem.

He had been working here for eight years now, three of them in training and the other five working his way up to where he sat now. He wasn't the one in total charge, but he didn't mind that at all. Eventually he knew he would end up there, but he would wait for that day.

Looking back towards the mansion, Robert could see the own perched inside the house, knowing that it couldn't go outside to Robert. Seeing this, Robert stood up, straitening out his pale blue button down shirt before carefully making his way around the rock and water back to the mansion.

Inside, Robert smiled as he got a better look at the owl. "Hey Rosie." He said with a smile, recognizing the white barn owl that currently sat perched just inside the mansion. Rosie belonged to an old student of his, Koree Wyman. "How are you doing, hm? He asked, petting her on the head a few times before untying the letter from her leg. He grabbed a nearby bowl with some water in it and placed it in front of Rosie. "You've have quite the flight, take a break." He said with a smile. Once Rosie was drinking the water, Robert turned and opened the letter from Koree.

It started off just like her other letters from her, but quickly turned into quite the surprise. She wanted him to come over and take control of the London Aurors. Robert sighed and reread the note, making sure it said what he thought it said. It did.

Letter still in his hand, Robert walked back outside, sitting on the rocks and looking out at the ocean that it looked like he was going to have to cross for his next job. He wasn't against this job and he knew Koree wouldn't ask for his help if he couldn't do it. He had always wanted to go to London, having heard so much about everything that had happened there.

Tucking the letter into his shirt pocket, Robert thought about what it was that he was going to have to do. First, he had to run this past the Minister and the Head Auror. With a tired sigh, Robert stood back up and walked back into the Mansion, wondering which of the two people would be easier to find and put this idea past first.

Almost three hours later, Robert was back where he started. "Hey Rosie." He said with a smile, petting the owl lightly on the head to wake it from it's nap. "Come on." He said, extending his arm for her to hop on to. "We're going back the short way." With a hoot of approval, Rosie hopped onto the outstretched arm and with a crack, they were no longer there.

Max Bodnar sat at his desk, looking through the pile of paperwork that was currently sitting on it. It had gotten a lot busier around here since Robert had gone. Max hadn't realized how much the man had actually done until he wasn't there. Then again, that's how everything worked.

He paused on a particularly interesting story of a magical duel between two kids in the middle of Boston. "These kids." He muttered, glad that someone else had taken care of this and it hadn't been him. Just as he got to the end of the report, an owl landed on the edge of his desk.

"What the... " He paused as he saw the letter attached to the owl's leg. He reached over and took the letter from the owl. He read through it quickly, smiling slightly at who it was from but not at the actual contents of letter.

"What are you gettin yourself into, huh Robert?" Max muttered to himself as he began to look through a different pile of papers. It was gonna be a long night to get all of this stuff together and back out to Robert, but the sooner it got done, the better.
