How Nintendo could lead in home console market

Though the following editorial is probably the longest piece ever published on the internet, it does a good job of analyzing the competition between Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo, and how the latter just might lead in home console market share this next-generation. Pocket Gamer writes: "Nintendo's performance in Japan is an excellent indicator of the shape of things to come in the rest of the world, and possibly even how the next gen TV-console war will play out... the success of DS, and the apparent reason for its success – Nintendo's championing innovation over graphical firepower – suggests that for the first time in years, Nintendo has a shot at getting the number one spot back."

The author goes on to say that Nintendo's traditional lack of "gritty fare" realistic games is the Achilles Heel for both the DS and Wii, and a sign that "Nintendo hasn't yet learned every lesson it might have."

Sony will be the biggest, in my opinion. But we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

lol did you read what the crazy dudes at Sony are saying. They are the most arrogrogant people I've ever heard. They said "the PS3 will replace all PCs." "Even if the PS3 had no games on it people would still buy it." Plus $500 for a retard pack is insane and makes the $300 360 retard pack seem like a good deal.

Nintendo might lead but I don't know. I have a feeling Microsoft will win overall because they have the 360 and PC.

Hmm. They are going a bit over the top with that one. But, cost aside, I will be looking forward to seeing what the PS3 is like. If it is too expensive and it doesn't live up to expectations they will have no choice but to lower the price. But I think its too far ahead to judge for now.
I think Nintendo will do very well, whatever happens. Not so sure about Microsoft.

Yeah I'm not trying to pre-judge them and not give the PS3 a fair chance I'm just predicting on what I've seen/heard so far. By the time the PS3 comes out Microsoft will already have 10 million 360 units out the door and their blockbuster games coming out this Christmas.

Yeah. PS3 should of got a move on. It does seem very late. But maybe they have good reason (or they think they do).

well microsoft are a bit over rating themselves aswell because you can't really count the pc in this 1 when most people think console war its usually ps3, wii, 360. and pc's dont just sell for gaming.
