credit: joystiq.com Now that the Big Three's media briefings have concluded, it's time to decide who put on the best show. Here are our picks: * Best Badge - Winner: Nintendo (we've been waiting to get our own personal ticket to Hyrule since 1987) * Cheapest Parking - Winner: Sony (it was free; we paid to park while attending Nintendo and Microsoft's briefings) * Shortest Lines - Winner: Microsoft (we walked right in; Sony and Nintendo kept us waiting ... and waiting ... and waiting) * Dopest Venue - Winner: Microsoft (we said it before: "This is by far the best venue of the three. Majestical, red, Chinese, comfortable, cool: this space also probably cost the most of the three ... If you got it, flaunt it.") * Audience Approval - Winner: Nintendo (Microsoft was a close second, but the fanboys were definitely in the house at the Kodak Theatre) * Technical Difficulties - Winner Loser: Nintendo (during the first several minutes of the RedSteel demo the center stage screen was blank with only the Wii logo on display) * Best Tunes - Winner: Microsoft (Sony had a stockpile of tracks, but Galvanize by The Chemical Brothers featuring Q-Tip is still looping in our heads) * Best Food - Winner: Microsoft (fish n' chips in a Chinese takeout box? Need we say more? Okay ... fine: 'chocolate fountain.') * Best Swag - Winner: Nintendo (a DS Lite carrying case beats Sony's Memory Stick media kit -- even if the case remains empty until June)* |

Yes it does because if it's not very good and they don't have much to show then their console and software doesn't have much to offer. It's a show for the industry more for the media they want to show games, developers, and journalists what they are planning so they can get people excited. I watched all 3 of the press conferences I downloaded yesterday. I have to say Sony's sucked all they showed was the controller and more of the same. They showed wow current games with better graphics. The high point was the MGS 4 trailer I would get a PS3 just for that. Nintendos really gave away the most mystery. They have the new Zelda game which looks awesome. Red Steel for the Wii looks good too. But all these games seem too arcady and not really in depth. Red Steel doesn't even have a little bit of blood. Microsofts was good. I don't care about Halo 3 since I only play FPS on the PC with a keyboard and mouse FTW! Gears of War is 3rd person and would play well on the 360 for that type of game. The graphics and enviroments looks amazing. Also another big thing that I liked was they are now taking the PC more seriously by Microsoft. They are now instead of saying the gamef is for PC they are saying it's for Windows because with Vista Microsoft wants to support Windows as a game platform. The new FPS Crysis is going to amazing on the PC graphics are amazing. Sony really didn't introduce any real direction they were heading except the game old series that we love GT, MGS, Jak, Ratchet and Clanks, etc. |
