Oblivion rating changed to M

The ESRB has changed the rating of the PC version of Oblivion from T (Teen) to M (Mature). The ratings board enacted the change because the game contains stronger depictions of violence than what were featured in the content that was submitted to determine the original rating. But more importantly, the new M-rating is a result of hidden (archived) topless skin files that can be accessed via a fan-created mod.

At this time, it's unclear if a recall will be issued, but the new rating, along with the addition of a "nudity" warning, will be applied to copies of Oblivion that are still on store shelves. It's also possible that Take-Two will force Bethesda to remove the archived files and re-release the game, in turn, regaining the T-rating.

So those ESRB keep changing their minds about the Mature and Teen rating? They have to think of a rating sometime. Its not just going to continuously go up and down for the rest of the year.

Oblivion is only being rated M now because it has nipples that can be unlocked with a mod and also becasue of a little blood. There isn't much blood and gore compared to games like FEAR or Quake 4. Just a little blood comes out when you are fighting and then in some rooms there are bloody limbs and stuff on the floor but you can't hack off limbs yourself.

Most underaged kids play these games anyway. And I don't blame them. I played/watched aged 18 games/movies when I was 8+ and it didn't do me any harm.

I just LOVE Orlando Bloom
Yeah, I never did see the rating system do any good. Kid's just tell their parents what they want and they got it for their birthday, christmas or just got it. I must have been nine or so when Resident Evil was first released and I must say I have fallen in love with that series.

The kids all know what the rating system on the box means, but don't care.
The parent's don't know at all what the little letters on the box means, so they buy it anyways.
Orlando Bloom is sooooo handsome

True. They use an age rating system in the UK:

Its used for both games and movies. Its probably easier to understand, but still....we all know parents still buy the game. I think it is because they agree with us. And their children all turn out fine so whats the point in rejecting.

Let's face everyone knows what the ratings system means if you have ever seen a commerical or the news you know. They say T for Teen at the end of every commerical and same with every other rating. Parents that buy them just don't care no knowing isn't much of an excuse when it says what it means and why the ratings is there right on the box. Everyone knows games don't really affect kids. I mean come on things on the news are much worse. On the news you are seeing things about rape, murder, and stuff like that. In some more of the popular M games like Oblivion you really aren't killing people that much you are killing demons, aliens, or whatever.
