Encounters with Chupacabras Meetings with the frightening, ravenous and elusive "goat sucker" It's not often that a new monster comes along. Bigfoot has been around for centuries, and sightings of the Loch Ness Monster may go as far back as the 6th century. The strange creature known as el chupacabras (the goat sucker), however, seems to be a relatively recent arrival. This vicious little thing entered the lexicon of monsters in 1975 when it slaughtered several farm animals in Puerto Rico. It really earned its reputation in the 1990s when the attacks intensified in both frequency and scope. In some attacks, according to the reports, hundreds of animals were killed at a time - goats, chickens, ducks, dogs - chupacabras had an appetite for them all. The sightings of the three-foot-tall, sharp-toothed, blazing-eyed monster started in Puerto Rico, but soon spread to Central America, the Southern United States and appeared most prominently in South America where it continues to be reported in Chile. Reports of creatures that fit the chupacabras description, in whole or in part, have come in to this website from all over. ![]() A popular image of "chupacabras," based on descriptions, although it is almost certainly a fake. ~ Creator/photographer unknown People are seeing strange things perched in trees, hiding in bushes and lurking in alleyways. We cannot say for sure, of course, if what they are seeing is really el chupacabras (if indeed the monster exists at all), but there are striking consistencies in the look and behavior of these sighted creatures. These are just some of the stories that have been sent my way: Maryland - One night in 2000, Mary C. and a friend were driving down a road they had traveled many times before. "It was mostly dark except for a couple of lights that guided the way," Mary said. "To the side of this street is a fairly wooded area with an open sewer line about a mile away." As they reached the end of the street, Mary's attention was drawn by a pair of "glowing eyes." At first she naturally assumed it was a dog or cat, the eyes of which commonly reflect brightly in headlights. The eyes were staring out of a hollowed-out tree that Mary knew since childhood. Then something unexpected happened. "As we approached the tree," Mary said, "whatever it was began to hop across the street like a kangaroo, but extremely fast." Unfortunately, Mary's friend didn't see the unusual sight, so Mary shrugged it off as possibly an injured dog. She might have forgotten about the incident had she not seen the creature again a few nights later. "We were headed for that [same] street again on our way to a friend's house. Lo and behold, [the creature] came from the same tree and rapidly darted past the car. Only this time we both saw it. It had back legs like a kangaroo's, even the forelegs were up like a kangaroo's. This thing was no kangaroo. It had a snout resembling an anteater's and very red eyes gleaming in the light. As it crossed the street, it stared at the car, probably in fear, seeing as how it ran the last time it saw the car. It was hairy like a rat and it stood about thee to four feet high as it hopped. I don't know what it was, but I have never seen any animal around here that looked like that and neither had my friend." New Jersey - It was on a golf course in Brigantine in 2000 where "Skapunk" and a friend had their sighting. His friend saw the little animal first, moving in the weeds. "He yelled at it and it stood straight up," Skapunk said. "It was about three feet tall with spikes on its back." Later that year, another friend was startled by an unknown creature - again at the same golf course. Skapunk and a few other friends went to investigate. "Rich was flashing his light around and he caught two big red eyes. What we [saw] was crouched, then stood up and ran. We found the footprints in the sand traps on the golf course. We know it wasn't a fox. It had two big sharp claws in the front and a very small palm." Illinois - Around 1989 when Tim B. was 15 and living in Naperville, he believes he may have encountered chupacabras. "I was at a friend's house drinking and carrying on. When it became time for me to walk home, my walk was through a large dark field, then over a hill and down, then over railroad tracks, then up a hill again to my home. I reached the tracks, now standing on them. I was paralyzed with what I saw. Looking directly into my eyes - a demon as I called it - was a quarter of the way up the hill in front of me in some brush about 20 ft. from the path I took. It was bald with huge eyes, about three to four feet tall and the hands having claws. I saw no other features. I was so scared, it took everything I had to just run. I have never run as fast in my life. I ran by him up the hill, never once looking back. Location Unknown - One night, when I was he was in seventh grade, Kip H. was coming home from a friend's house when he saw something red up in the trees. He stopped to get a better look and saw something move. "Then I saw two glowing red eyes," Kip said. "Whatever it was stood up. It stood to about 3 to 3-1/2 feet tall. I had seen all these things about the chupacabras on TV and I did not believe them, but what I saw looked exactly like the descriptions I had heard on TV. The creature made a sound like a drunken dog or something - squealing like I never heard before. It sounded unearthly. Then I saw something like a long tongue come out of its mouth and move around. My house was about three houses away, so I ran." ![]() Chupacabras perched in a tree... or a computer image manipulation? ~ Photographer unknown Unfortunately, the creature ran, too, chasing Kip down the street. "It was in my neighbor's yard moving around. I pounded on the door to my house and rang the doorbell a lot of times. My step-dad opened the door and when I turned to look, the creature had run away." Location Unknown - It was a cold February morning when Sonoran P. woke up and went about his daily routine. His mother had gone to work, so he made himself some breakfast and sat to watch a little TV. He heard a window break. Being alone, he grabbed a golf club and went to investigate. In his own bedroom, he got the shock of his life. "When I saw what it was, I got paralyzed," Sonoran reported. "Climbing in my bed was a creature I had never seen before. It appeared to be hurt because it seemed it could not move well." Sonoran, golf club at the ready, slowly moved closer for a better look. "That thing hissed horribly. It shrieked in an unworldly manner, which made me even more scared. It was about the size of a large rabbit, dark in color and had reddish eyes. It had wings, a spine of quills in its back and a semi-reptilian face. It appeared to have hair and small legs. I thought it was a sort of large bat, but when I clearly saw its face I instinctively raised the golf club. It hissed and showed its large, yellowish teeth, which appeared to be sharp, like those of a crocodile." Apparently, the mysterious creature wasn't really hurt as it hopped out of the window and rapidly hopped across the street into the oak trees. "The shrieks it gave made it strange," Sonoran said, "and its red, glazing eyes are something not easy to forget." Have you spotted a creature that might have been chupacabras? Tell us the story of your encounter with "the goat sucker" or any other mysterious creature. We know they're out there... CREDIT BH Enterprises & Paranormal.About.Com |

I have seen many images and read some interesting accounts of sightings concerning this alleged creature during the past year or so but I have never came across video evidence of any kind.

Really don't think it does exist well no more then big foot exists which is about as likely as a Star Wars fan dressed as a Wookie flys his X-Wing(Honda Civic) into the forest. :rolleyess:

Sure not saying these photos are real, but I think this creature may exist. You just never know. New species are being discovered all the time...while creatures once thought to be history have been re-discovered. This crazy world is so mass. We haven't yet begin to search every square inch. You just don't know what creatures could still be out there......

Pretty Interesting Read. I Don't Really Know What To Think Of This, But There Could Be A Possibility That This Creature Could Be Real.

Well yeah there is a possibility of course. But it most likely isn't real. IMO. I mean in the time of Thomas Jefferson they still thought there were Dinasours out west when he sent Lios and Clark. This could be no different just fairy tales and rumors.
