Bad Boy on the Dance Floor - and he's striking a rather familiar pose.

Robbie Williams, he of 'I snogged Kylie' fame, is about to invest in an oversized white jumpsuit.

It's rumoured that the former 'Take That' singer is going to step into John Travolta's shoes for a remake of 70's Disco fave, "Saturday Night Fever".

According to both The Daily Star and Dark Horizons, a £20 million remake of John Badham's boppy smash is on the way - with original crooners, The Bee Gees, behind it. This year, Brothers Robin and Barry Gibb gain ownership of their back catalogue of hits - hence, the timing of the rework.

A friend of the band says, "They have always wanted to remake the film and bring out a more modern version and Robbie is the ideal candidate to play Tony - he can sing, dance, is a good-looking lad and has loads of charisma."

The original film told of Tony Manero, a troubled Brooklyn youth whose weekend activities are dominated by visits to a New York discotheque. While in the disco Tony is the king, and the visits help him to temporarily forget the reality of his life: a dead-end job, clashes with his unsupportive and squabbling parents, racial tensions in the local community, and his associations with a dead-beat gang of friends.

Travolta reprised his role for the weak-ass sequel, "Staying Alive" in 1983.

I don't think he can act. But we'll have to wait and see.
