Bridget Jones actress Renee Zellweger said she was "dumbfounded" to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Zellweger's is the 2,286th star on the famed walk

The 36-year-old actress told Tuesday's unveiling ceremony she had dreamed of appearing on the Walk of Fame since her first trip to Hollywood in 1988.

"I used two rolls of film on just these stars alone, and I was so excited to be here," she said.

"I never imagined a day like this or that I would be invited to be part of this legacy," she added.

Zellweger, who has appeared in the Bridget Jones films, Chicago and won an Oscar for her role in the American Civil War epic Cold Mountain, became the 2,286th star on the famed pavement.

Tsunami Benefit
It sits alongside those of cinema icons such as Bette Davis, Rita Hayworth, and her Cold Mountain co-star Nicole Kidman

"The reality of this just hit me a few seconds ago and I am dumbfounded," she said,

The unveiling of Zellweger's star came 10 days before the opening of her next film Cinderella Man, in which she co-stars with Russell Crowe.

She plays the wife of boxer James Braddock, played by Crowe, who won boxing's world heavyweight championship in a major upset during the Great Depression.

Earlier this month, Zellweger also married country music singer Kenny Chesney in a small ceremony on the Caribbean island of St John.

The couple met at a benefit for tsunami relief in January where Chesney was singing and Zellweger was answering telephones.

Renee Zellweger's a pretty good actress, but I don't think she's contributed enough to Hollywood to merit a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame just yet. Oh well - it would have happened eventually anyway, I guess.
